You guys... I've been crying all day.  I am so incredibly overwhelmed right now I can't manage the emotions.  Everyone (family/friends that know) keep saying how exciting twins is, I'm fucking miserable.  I feel terrible, like an aweful mother.  I'm so overwhelmed and can't connect.  I just unleashed all of this on my H, and he's now stressed about me being stressed.  I'm so surprised about my reaction to this and it makes me feel like a terrible person.  I hope these feelings will pass.  Sorry to be heavy, I needed to get it out.
You have to feel what you have to feel. It does NOT make you a bad mother at all. When I first got the BFP with DD, I sobbed on the couch while DH danced in the living room. And I had panics throughout the pregnancy about the overwhelming responsibility. Twins are exciting, but having your expectations change for your pregnancy so quickly is certain to cause some hesitation. And if you felt that twins were nothing but exciting right now, you may not be prepared for the responsibility in the future. You're just being a good mother. Truly considering what will need to be done to care for those little ones.

I agree with other posters about checking out the Multiples page in the next few weeks. While twins definitely changes the game a bit, I imagine posters on those boards have so many positives to share with you that will up the excitement. And I know from a friend with triplets that there are a lot of discount programs out there for moms of multiples. It's all manageable, and you don't have to do it all at once.

Sidenote: I had another inappropriate cry...Watching Three Amigos tonight (perhaps the least negatively or dramatically emotional movie ever), I cried when they finally saved the town from El Guapo. I'm pathetic.

  • @DiFazette Sorry you're having a hard time, but oh man, I would be right there with you.  This doesn't make you a bad mom and I'm sure that you'll be super excited and ready for those babies before long.
  • I can get emotional, but lately... it's been so much worse!

Yesterday, I cried during Nashville when we were catching up on the DVR. And then, when we started watching the NFL Draft, I started tearing up when one of my college alums players went Pick #2... and just thinking about it makes me eyes water.

OH!! I was at Hallmark yesterday picking up cards for Mother's Day, and got the 2016 Dreambook. When I got home, I was flipping through it and found the page with the "Baby's 1st Christmas" ornaments. I just bawled.

Also..Greys Anatomy anyone??? did the producers just say to themselves "lets involve a baby in almost EVERY episode this season!" :| it upsets me and makes me ragey at the same time.

  • I cried twice during My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2 last night...not just tears, bit full on sobbing.  It was ridiculous

  • First episode of Fuller House. Ugly crying the whole time.
  • DH is undermining me with DD. :( He is clearly father of the year and I'm just a crap mom.

  • Once again I'm crying (which makes me feel super lame!)
This time it's because husband asked what I wanted for lunch and I said "Dickeys Salad" (it's a BBQ chain) and he thought I said "tiki salad" so I cried which made me even harder to understand.. I just want a salad covered in chopped beef brisket :(
luckily he is now on his way to get one.
  • today we went to the hallmark store to pick out mother's day cards. I started crying with every card i picked up.  I had to have DH pick out a card for me to give to my mom- I couldn't get passed the front of the cards!  He looked at me like i was nuts.  but I couldn't stop. a big ball of weepy in the middle of hallmark. even the Disney cards and the humor cards were making me cry.
every year DH tries to make me cry with a sappy card.  the bar for this year is apparently set very low.
  • I wish I was crying more. Crying for some reason seems to alleviate nausea for me a bit. I got whimpery watching an episode of Orphan Black this morning. Oh sweet relief!

    I cried twice yesterday.

First, because DH insists on coming to my next appointment, and got a little offended that I said he didn't need to go, so then I felt bad.

Then, I cried because I was so.freaking.tired yesterday and couldn't get off the couch to even pack my lunch for today. But, DH got me up and helped me get the chores done, and I survived. Then I cried again lol.
  • I was just watching a movie where there was a 2 second side storyline where the woman had to put her dog down and I lost it. DH came home shortly later and I burst into hysterical laughing and crying as I explained why I was the way that I was. Last time this happened I was coming to from anesthesia from wisdom tooth surgery.

I got misty-eyed a few times today because people keep sharing stupid emotional videos with sappy songs about how babies grow up. The tears started rolling when the dad walked in and saw his daughter in her wedding dress. MY DAUGHTER AND THIS BEAN INSIDE ME ARE NOT ALLOWED TO GROW UP

  • I cried because of Grey's Anatomy. Definitely a legitimate reason.
  • I am normally not a crier unless I'm pregnant. The other day I cried while watching Thomas Rhett's Die a happy man video.  I just couldnt handle how they were so in love with each other in the video.
I also bawled my eyes out uncontrollably because I took to long getting ready an DH an I missed the hotel continental breakfast. Yep I cried over a stale cereal an dried out pastries. DH did his best to comfort me an then treated me to a wonderful breakfast on the French Quarter in Charleston.
  • @DiFazette multiples is so much to process! You need to give yourself a little grace here... You will adjust and you will make it work and at some point you'll even say that you wouldn't have it any other way! But be patient with yourself and allow yourself to feel all the feels unashamedly. You're doing great ❤️

I cried last night sitting on the couch alone at 1am suffering through insane heartburn. I just keep asking myself why am I doing this again? I adore my daughter and everything I went through to have her was absolutely worth it, but I swore I'd never get pregnant again after that and here I am. I hate not feeling "normal" and I'm terrified that my entire pregnancy will feel like this (I was sick all 9 months with my daughter -- ugh).
  • @swhiddon33 that  sounds like my self-deprecating slew of texts that I sent to my H yesterday... "I'm sorry I'm so useless right now." "I can't wait to be a better mom and wife again." "She ate ramen and chocolate pudding for lunch...." (<--- that last one belongs in FFFC)
  • I cried over a McDonald's commercial last night! A freaking McDonald's commercial!!!!

There was a Chase MasterCard commercial that I  watched as a precursor to some random thing on Facebook, and I was waterworks for at least ten minutes because it was "so touching". DH was laughing his @ss off at me.

Then today I cried three different times. Once while car shopping (for a baby friendly vehicle) because I didn't like the color maroon. Next because I was so hungry I thought my stomach was going to eat itself. Then lastly, because DH said I was purposely "being lazy" and I said that I work my toosh off at school (middle school teacher here) and all I want is 5 minutes to just sit...he pointed out that I had been reading posts on the app for at least 30 minutes.

Oh no! Four times! This morning I cried because I couldn't fit in my skinny bras anymore!

  • I'm not usually weepy, except when there is ANY story involving babies or families or birthing.
Also, country music seems to be a trigger.

@LCartee2016 Country music is the most depressing genre on the planet. My dog died, my wife left me, I'm drunk and remembering my long lost horse...and my tractor.

I have few sniffles because I am so tired. I got barely any sleep last night and I'm not sure why. :(

This made me think of that Rascal Flatts song Backwards. Funniest country song I've heard. It's about what happens when you play a country song backwards!

  • Proud of myself for not crying when I finished my tub of sour keys.  Gilmore Girls on the other hand, totally made me cry, even though I've seen it a dozen times.

Lol, it really is a depressing genre! My problem is that I really love all music, and unfortunately that includes country.
I think it's a nostalgia thing though. *shrug*
