  • I have no idea how many DPO I am. Well I have a general idea...but I decided not o temp this month so I'm not 100% sure. I've had about 10+ days of fertile CM so I don't know what the hell is going on. I'm hoping that I actually ovulated this month. I think I did because I took my temp this morning and it was above cover. After about 9 months of temping my cover has never changed so I'm hoping that I finally ovulated. Luckily DH and I have been BDing EOD for about 2 weeks. I'm hoping we've got a decent chance.

  • Congrats to all the BFP's on this thread!  It looks like there are many and that brings me hope.  After 7 weeks post-d&c and no period, I decided to start charting temps, and I believe I actually ovulated.  So I'll join this thread for the next week and a half while I wait it out.
  • So, what's everyone's TTW style? Do you restrict anything? Do anything different etc?

My nurse that did my IUI told me to "act pregnant until we tell you otherwise" which is not my style usually. Not that I drink more than a beer or two a week, but still. She's gotten in my head though!

  • @BornReady it's such a conundrum. My best advice is to do what makes you comfortable. Look for a balance. I've played it both ways. Nowadays, my approach is to act semi pregnant. Haha! I don't drink after the first week of the TWW and last cycle I actually stayed away from yoga for the whole TWW too. (Power yoga is hot and I read someone describe it as basically giving yourself a fever, so I figured why risk it when we are paying for the process at this point.)

I don't stop eating lunch meat or bacon (don't know that I would completely anyway) but I am more concious of what I'm consuming.

What do you feel like you would need to change? A lot or a little? I'm all for erring on the side of caution, but it's half a month every month... So I've tried to find my balance.

  • @BornReady It's such a tough balance to strike. I don't really do anything in my everyday life that pregnant people aren't supposed to do (I don't drink, I don't eat meat) but I do take melatonin through the TWW. I figure I'd rather sleep through at least part of the crazy and I don't sleep without it. Ehh, it's really up to you and how comfortable you're feeling.

  • I don't usually drink anyway, so the TWW is not much different, but I certainly won't avoid things like sushi and soft cheeses unless I really have to!
  • @fivetimesnoluck I don't think I would really have to change much. I'm not a drinker, maybe 1 or 2 glasses a week. I do exercise though and like tea (caffeine) etc. I think I would just typically proceed with normal life as usual, but with her statement she has me all second-guessing.
  • Aera11Aera11 member
@BornReady I agree with PP, I think you do whatever is comfortable for you.  I am not a drinker but I do take melatonin like @reneeannemm and probably one coffee a day.  I never eat lunch meat but when I was pregnant, it was all I thought about haha.  The CDC had released something a while back with similar feelings to what your nurse said and it got in my head too.

Last time when I was pregnant, it was Christmas and New Years, so I drank more wine and champagne than my regular week. I also went for sushi with my BFF and of course enjoyed fine soft cheeses and deli meat with my family. I also ate lots of ceviche (raw fish) as I was visiting in Peru...When I got my BFP, back in Chile, I kept thinking about this behavior!!!

Now as i am TTC again, I am drinking d-caf at the office, and also caffeine free herbal teas. I am trying not to drink
(when I remember). Deli meats and cheese I'm still having though.

Thanks to a fellow bumpie, I just found out that you shouldn't drink hibiscus tea while pregnant!!! I didn't know and still have half a box of it at the office. I am so glad that she told me! Thanks

When I found out I was pregnant, I was on vacation in New Orleans and we had been drinking quite a bit- the first night we were there I got pretty toasted. I had raw oysters and all kinds of other things. I got my BFP the night before we went back home and I was so stressed out that I drank so much and could of hurt the baby. I told this to the nurse at my first OB visit and she said "don't worry about it, how do you think most babies get conceived anyways?" But now that I have had a loss, even though I know nothing I did caused it- it still is hard, not sure what I will do for my first TWW TTCAL.

The drinking never gave me pause b/c you don't share a blood supply until right around the time of missed period anyway.

The think I struggle most with during 2WW is space heaters (my office is FREEZING year round) and heated seats in the car (obviously only during winter), as strange as that sounds.

@MWoodsideI forgot all about my heated car seats, which I LOVE. Someone mentioned not to use them after embryo transfer in IVF and I couldn't believe I didn't think of that. I drive around in the winter with mine on full blast.
  • You guys!!!! FF gave me dotted crosshairs today....putting potential O at 40 days post-D&C. We started NTNP after my testing came back and I'm sure we probably hit at least one day of the FW and so maybe I'm in the TWW and already feeling paranoid....talk me down please....

...and all I did was use a heating pad on my back recently and had one drink on day of probable O. What is wrong with me?

I refuse to buy pee sticks. I refuse to feed my own crazy.

Yay for dotted crosshairs @wishilivedinflorida....hope FF doesn't take them away from you and you actually did O! :) I'm still WTO, my first cycle post D&C was super long and screwed up so wondering when I will ovulate- later, sooner or same than usual? Guess we will see....might start OPKS earlier.

I agree with PP to do what you feel comfortable with, personally I don't act pregnant until i get a positive test. with my first pregnancy, I drank until I got a positive test. I told my dr at my first visit and she told me not to worry, as long as i stopped when I got a positive test. I really hate all the 'pregnancy rules' about food and caffeine. I feel like all these studies scare women into thinking every little thing we put in our body can harm our baby. yes, there are some risky foods that should be avoided but overall i'm all for everything in moderation while pregnant, except smoking and drinking of course. a lot of women still enjoy a glass of wine occasionally while pregnant, while that's something i stayed away from while pregnant, I don't think it's the worst thing in the world.

  • I'm just frustrated and sick of giving up everything for nothing. When we started trying I gave up everything...caffeine, booze, lunch meat, you name it. I kept that up during my entire cycle for the six months it took to get pregnant and I still had a m/c (it was genetic so nothing would have changed the results). So now I've decided that I'm going to live my life (within reason of course). I don't drink that much caffeine but iced coffee is a special treat for me and I'm not going to avoid booze if I want a glass of wine one or two nights a week. It seems to put even more pressure on me and I know that's stress isn't good either.
    Pregnancy Ticker
  • I cut everything out when we first started trying going from a huge caffeine intake to nothing, gave up wine and yoga and it was for nothing. Again genetics wouldn't change what i did or did not drink. I was doing decaf but heard it's worse than one cup or regular since its chemically processed. I now keep to one regular drip cup a day and don't feel bad if I need one glass of wine during the TWW. I know it's too early to share blood and if something I'm doing is damaging my eggs, well, that one has already been determined too. I am working on getting rid of things that cause me more anxiety and stress for this next go round and that is just one of them.

  • just an fyi, it is typically acceptable to drink up to 200 mg of caffeine per day while pregnant which is a cup or 2 of coffee, depending on the strength. a can of soda is about 35 mg of caffeine so please ladies, don't stress yourself out over caffeine. don't go overboard obviously but don't deprive yourself needlessly if you really want a coffee.

  • I drink one coffee every morning. I drink a decaf in the afternoon, if I feel like more. We have a fancy espresso machine, so that's even less caffeine than standard. I cut waaaaaay back when we started TTC and I sleep much better, so I never went back. Though, if I want a drip coffee at a diner or whatever, I never hold back on account of TTC.
