Re: WTF Wednesday
His reaction? "Do you really think NOW is a good time for a pedicure? Aren't we trying to save money?"
SERIOUSLY? Yes, I'd say the week before my induction is a GREAT time for a pedicure. Considering the only other pedicures I've had in my life were before prom and before my wedding, its not like I indulge in this often. I haven't been able to reach my feet in months, I would like a little pampering since its been a pretty rough pregnancy, and we are going to a cheap place anyway. Besides, I'm 99% sure my mom is paying for it. Also, he is going to a freaking bar tomorrow! That is spending money! And I support it because he should go do something fun with his friends before the baby arrives, just like I deserve to do something nice for myself before the baby arrives.
I'm still so fuming mad at his ignorance that I don't even know what to do.
My WTF is BBB - I changed my EDD to 5/8 so we could get the completion coupon early and we still haven't received it. Glad my DD isn't really until the end of the month, not like I need some things or anything like that...
Almost everyone who works for the drug courts is a contract worker so we're all technically self employed and make our own schedules (for the most part). I'm a clinical case manager, which you need a Masters in Social Work to do. This lady is currently a case aide so she does a lot of transportation for our drug court clients since we're in a rural area with terrible public transportation, and she's working on getting her MSW. Well we had talked back in March about her shadowing me a few times a week to familiarize herself with my case load and the basics of clinical case management, since she has no experience. So after talking with her two months ago, she has shadowed me less than 8 hours because she always has something else to go do or has taken on a new transport and needs to cut our time short.
I'm super frustrated because she is the one that told me she can shadow me from 12-5 on Wednesdays, which isn't that much to begin with but I understand she also needs to work, but has cut out on me early each time. I get that my job may not be rocket science, but it requires common sense, assertiveness/the ability to call clients out on their shit and hold them accountable for their actions, flexibility, a knowledge of case management in order to meet client needs, etc...ALL of which this lady is lacking at this point. I've told her the times I work are based on my clients availability/schedules and she can't shadow me for any other times because she always has something going on... So now I've started having to schedule appointments with my client that pull them out of work early, just so she can be available to shadow me...which is really unfair to my clients. I'm worried that my case load is going to fall apart in the 8 weeks that I'll be gone, and my clients can't risk that because they have prison on the line. Then my supervisor told me today that if things go well with this lady she'd like to possibly hire her in next grant period. Which kind of terrifies me at this point, but I don't feel like I can say anything to my supervisor yet about it all without first speaking to this lady - which I kinda did today. I told her I'm due in a month and this kid will come whenever she wants, and if she came tomorrow would you be ready to take over my case load? Her response: "No, I'd be screwed." Uhh, so get it together lady!
I just don't think this lady is going to make it. It's a tough job where you're dealing with Judges, defense & prosecuting attorneys, probation officers, jails in various counties, therapists, a bunch of other state agencies, addiction - so you need to have a general inderstanding on meds that are approved/unapproved, not to mention the clients all have criminal charges so you're dealing with both addict and criminal thinking which is super sneaky and manipulative. Plus you really need flexibily, which she's not budging on at all. Ugh.
Also, WTF to my mom for being an asshole about getting the TDAP vaccine AND my husband for questioning why I want the police department to check that we've installed the car seats correctly. Does it matter? It's for our child's goddamn safety, just do it.
/end rant.
I'm also frustrated about the TDAP shot and our families. Just get the damn shot for crying out loud.
A baby gate is exactly what I'd recommend to a client in this situation. Now that the peeing behavior has started, you want to do everything you can to prevent it from happening again and becoming a persistent problem or habit. Plus I'm not a fan of letting dogs have access to nurseries anyway. Be sure to get a gate that'll be easy for you to operate after giving birth, some are a pain.
Update me if the peeing continues!
my toddlers escort me to the bathroom, and then proceed to try to sit on my ever-decreasing lap space. Now try to wipe...
