Why my pregnant self is crying...

We all know that our hormones can get the best of us at the littlest of things, are you an easy crier? Tell us some of the funny (or random) things that made you shed a tear!

  • I watched an extended preview of the new movie coming out "Mother's Day" and I couldn't stop crying. The thought of finally becoming a mom made me so emotional. This is all from watching a commercial!!

I'm highly annoyed and irritated because a friend of ours has been waiting 4 hours for a couple we know that is notoriously HOURS late for events. There's just no excuse for that kind of behavior--incredibly disrespectful. They were 2.5 hours late for game night on Friday, so I am done!! No tears yet but I did kick my feet some while I was laying on the couch. Very mature.

I watched the movie Max for the first time last night... I didn't just cry once I was full blown sobbing multiple times... I'm a crier anyways, so throw in some hormones and I'm a freaking water works show! My 3 year old DD kept asking why I was crying and DH was laughing it up... Luckily I knew I was being ridiculous so I laughed along with him
  • Yeah I'm tearing up over everything. I cried over Prince like 3 times, and while I like him I wouldn't say I was a major fan. I cried because I was hungry. Articles on Facebook....
  • I have cried over so many silly things it's ridiculous. I cry almost every day when I'm driving to work singing some song on the radio that gets me emotional.
And crying over various commercials and shows, most recently a Dateline episode on antifreeze and I just couldn't believe that they don't add a bitter taste to that stuff!

I'm usually never one to get teary-eyed at anything....and I totally cried a couple days ago scrolling through the happy birthday wishes on George Takei's Facebook page. They were so genuine and sweet! Who have I become...? lol

  • YES! I've cried during the silliest times in movies. Today I cried because my husband called me mean. Which he calls me all the time so it's not something out of the blue. I cried the other morning when I got sick lol

  • My latest has been watching episodes of Long Lost Family on TLC. It's about biological families and adoptees finding each other and reuniting. I was adopted at 4 weeks and have zero information about my biological parents other than they were 16 when I was born. I've always been curious but now being pregnant I'm borderline obsessed with the idea of finding them. Last night I signed up on a bunch of adoption registries just in case they're out there looking too.
  • I cry at movies on a regular basis, but that's about it. I just broke down in sobs of happiness in the store because H grabbed me a loaf of pre sliced garlic bread, when we have 10 loaves of bread at home.

  • I cried at Grey's Anatomy last week, and then again at the previews for this week. I cried today at lunch because I couldn't get the peanut butter open.
  • I am not a crier...until I get pregnant.

I cried watching Girl Meets World (don't judge me!)

I then cried when I went to the gas station for a cherry coke and they didn't have any (I usually hate cherry coke but that's all I've been wanting)

Brian Shawn 15 years old; Ethan Jonathon 10 years old; Greyson Conrad 5 years old; Keegan Ryan 3 years old

  • I cried at Matilda the other day...I might normally tear up at that movie, but I was bawling throughout this time. Also the other day when I wanted to go home to go for a walk but our waitress at dinner wouldn't bring us the freakin' check, I started to tear up at the idea I wasn't going to be able to walk. It hasn't gotten totally bad yet, but I know it's coming.

@jandd2014  - I develop very emotional attachments to food during pregnancy, so I totally feel you on the garlic bread! Last pregnancy, my SIL took ALL BUT ONE PIECE of my amazing CocaCola cake from my baby shower without telling me, and DH ate that last piece not knowing there was no more. I was so furious at SIL that I was yelling at DH to call her and make her turn around on the highway (she lives in another state and was driving home) to bring me my cake back. My mom ended up coming over to bake me an emergency cake later in the day haha. It was serious!

  • I haven't cried over anything "irrational" yet.. which is surprising to me because I am really soft-hearted as it is, but things I thought I would cry over during pregnancy I just haven't yet!  Maybe these pregnancy hormones are turning me cold.. bahaha.  I'm sure that will change.

  • I cried a little when I was having some spotting and then again at the doctor's office when we actually saw our little Bean on the ultrasound for the first time.  But I'm sure I will have major waterworks this weekend when we tell my parents we're expecting - my mom is a crier and she usually makes me cry too even before I was pregnant!

  • I cried because I saw someone helping a stray dog that was limping on the sidewalk. Usually I might stop to help or maybe silently applaud someone for being nice to a stray....but instead I just lost it.
I'm usually only a crier when I'm super angry and frustrated.

  • I've been watching a lot of Fixer Upper on Netflix recently. The new house reveal gets me every time!

And also on Gilmore Girls, when Paris was accepted to med school. It was like my own child was going to med school. Yikes.

Yesterday I also started crying during a commercial for the NC Education Lottery. DH thought it was hilarious.

  • @beff12, I just started re-watching Gilmore girls. I love it so much. I cried yesterday because of the episode where Lorelai and Luke break up the engagement and he was all packed up to elope...I have seen it maybe 8 times but it got me good this time. I am tearing up as type this...

  • I first knew I was pregnant the first time around when I was watching that Tom Hanks move, Captain Phillips ,(Look at me, I'm the captain now!) on an airplane and balled my eyes out when he left the freighter in that little pod with all of the bad guys. I thought he was for sure dead at that point.... and apparently cared... a lot???  Even WHILE I was crying I knew it was ridiculous and I didn't really care. lol

  • I was binge watching episodes of House yesterday and watched the one where a teenage patient had a baby in an abandoned house and a homeless couple was caring for it. Cutty went to try to find the baby and ended up adopting it. Sad soundtrack. Cue lots of tears. Ugh.

  • I'm normally an emotional mess, but I cry weekly every time Nyle does well on Dancing with the Stars.
I also cry at night when I'm putting my toddler to bed because I'm so sad that he's so big and doesn't just fit on one arm anymore, and that there's a day coming soon where he's not going to need me to do things for him and I just SOB.

  • I'm not normally a crier...in fact I sometimes side-eye people who sob at nothing.

While pregnant though...ambulances.  Every time one goes by I start sobbing; what if they don't get there in time?!

Also, thinking about wedding vows nearly sent me over the edge the other day. I just can't.
  • Animals. And animal moms with animal babies. That gorilla that just had a baby in Prague. That chimp that was so sweet to that pregnant woman through the zoo glass. And humans just keep growing growing growing and using using using. What about the baby elephants and muskrats?!?!

  • I'm trying not to cry because DH is late for his birthday dinner  because he's been gaming and our reservations are literally in 7 minutes. He is easily 20 minutes away, but he's leaving during ruah hour so who knows when he'll get here. Got all dressed and his cupcake stuff done and I'm tired and feel super pouty. Big pet peeve of mine is when people are late.
  • We have a 4yo Beagle. I found sone white hairs in the copper of her face and ears. I lost it. She still has pkenty of life left but it made me so sad. It will never be just me and her again, that was a tough realization for me.

  • You guys... I've been crying all day.  I am so incredibly overwhelmed right now I can't manage the emotions.  Everyone (family/friends that know) keep saying how exciting twins is, I'm fucking miserable.  I feel terrible, like an aweful mother.  I'm so overwhelmed and can't connect.  I just unleashed all of this on my H, and he's now stressed about me being stressed.  I'm so surprised about my reaction to this and it makes me feel like a terrible person.  I hope these feelings will pass.  Sorry to be heavy, I needed to get it out.

You have every right to be overwhelmed. You're not an awful mother at all, you're a human being. Give yourself some time to wrap your mind around it. Allow yourself to be stressed. Then I think you should focus on the positives: you have a long time to prepare, they will most likely be so close, they can sleep in the same crib while they are little and the proximity will be comforting to them, after the first 2 years or so they will entertain each other and you'll have more time to keep the house and yourself running etc.
  • Reading Mother's Day cards and trying to find one that's fitting for my mom. Tears at Hallmark for sure.

@DiFazette Sorry you're having a stressful time. It hasn't really sunk in that I'm really pregnant yet (not to mention having twins!). We haven't told anyone yet. We plan to tell step daughters and both sets of parents Mother's Day weekend. Maybe after that things will start to sink in.  Hugs to you for a better day tomorrow!

If it's any comfort, I would probably have the same reaction. Give yourself time to get used to this new reality (probably like a year and a half) and do NOT think you should be feeling a certain way. You're reacting totally normally in my opinion! I am not sure how active the bump's multiples board is but it may be worth checking out and seeing how things are going/have gone for other multiples mamas!

You're not a horrible mother! I think how you're feeling is totally normal. Give yourself permission to have a few freak out days.

  • @DiFazette You are completely within your rights to freak out. Remember when I said I'd shit my pants if I found out I was having twins? Yeah, not an exaggeration. I haven't had an ultrasound yet so who knows! But you are absolutely not a horrible mother! You are worried about finances and how life will change...and to me that tells me you are a great mom. Be kind with yourself and give yourself time to process, cry, scream, eat ice cream, whatever. Everything will be ok, I just know it. <3
  • I'm crying at songs on the radio and about feeling sick all the time. The constant nausea is really wearing on me and disrupting my sleep like crazy and sometimes I just cry to DH like, I'm so sick of being sick! He's putting up with it well.
