I don't like Hummels, Precious Moments, Swarovski crystal animals, faceless wooden angels, Lladro figures, or ANY of the "collectible figurines" that were so popular in the '80s. I can't put my finger on it, but something about them makes me sad. Especially when I see an entire curio cabinet full of them.
But for some reason, collectible light-up Christmas houses are exempt from this. I love those. Maybe because they get put away after Christmas.
@PleaseSendPicklesNow I agree about the Christmas houses. They're adorable, but maybe it's just because they're seasonal. And I love Christmas and it's magical?
My mom decided when I was a kid that I was going to have a collection of the willow tree angel (the wooden faceless angels). DH finds them super creepy. I have boxes full in my basement. My mom knows that DH finds them creepy and that they are all in a box in the basement, yet she continues to give me one, for EVERYTHING. I dont know how to politely ask her to stop.
