I kinda like the way men tell birth stories... My supervisor has a toddler, so felt like he should share.
"So we got there, then it sucked for awhile, then she got that thing ... you know the pain thing? then it sucked more so we got a c section." *end story* No gory, graphic details.
@Alikay20 I started out super clumsy, but I agree. I seem to crash into stuff more. My husband taught the dog the command "Air bag!" which means "walk in front of mommy so she has to walk slowly and carefully so as not to squish the corgi."
@Allisun85 haha yes! The way that guys tell it is usually better, but one of my co-workers told my husband not to look down there AT ALL, because it looks like a wet Saint Bernard trying to squeeze through a cat door. His wife was mortified and pretty sure DH can't get that mental image out of his head.
@lgem4We used Aden and Anais Muslim blankets/sleep sacks with DS in the warm weather because they were really breathable. We also used a miracle blanket swaddle through the summer because it was the only one that kept him swaddled. In the summer we just would put him in that with nothing but a diaper. Some baby's love the swaddle and some don't, but I know it was a lifesaver sleep-wise for us. I think you'll want at least one or two options, especially for air conditioned rooms.
What is everyone's opinions/thoughts about sleep sacks with the babies being born in the Summer? Everyone in my family loves them but all their babies are born in the Fall and Winter. I don't know if it would get used or maybe just a 0-6m and not a newborn one for Fall/Winter time???
We used the A&A swaddle blankets at first with thin sleepers underneath. As the weather started cooling down we switched to SwaddleMes (which we used until he was old enough to roll over onto his belly)
Random quick question - dont know where else to ask - is the Aug 2016 mom Facebook page private, or how do I find it? Do I need an invite? Who do I ask about that? Would love to be apart of it. Thanks!
(Sorry if this is posted somewhere. I tried going back some pages and then doing a search and didn't see anything about it)
@Wylies I believe the Facebook page thread is on the main page now if you are still interested.
Today a friend at work and I were talking and she goes, "Oh you won't believe what "so and so" said about you today." Before I could say, "I don't think I really want to know?" She goes, "She said that your hips have gotten SO much bigger." It was just the most random thing and honestly the comment didn't really bother me because I know it's not true, (girlfriend I'm still wearing my pre-pregnancy pants!) it was the fact that my friend felt the need to tell me? I just think there are times when people should just keep things to themselves because honestly it made me more upset with her than with the lady who said it. She was really proud of the fact that she "stuck up for me" and told the lady it wasn't true. I was just like...thanks...?
But it on the bright side, I mentioned it to DH when we were telling each other about our day and he always knows how to make things better.
I think I'm getting pupps. My stomach has been itchy these past few days and today I notice a handful of small red bumps. boo. I really don't want to be itchy for the remainder 3-4 months and also, I don't think mentally I will deal well with these bumps and getting so big and just the added emotions of being pregnant. Sorry for the vent but I'm bummed out. Hoping it's a reaction or something else.
@michelle_shelle Oh my goodness! I had to google Pupps. I would have had no clue what that was if it happened to me. I'm so sorry you have that! Hopefully it was just a reaction to something you ate and will go away.
Fingers crossed that you are just having some sort of reaction to something @michelle_shelle! When I was pregnant with ds, I could not use any of my normal soaps, lotions, laundry detergents, etc. I had to wash my body and face with Cetaphil and also use their brand of lotion. My MIL started making homemade laundry detergent and that works amazing. The "allergies" went away after I gave birth to him, but what is crazy, he has eczema.
@Hannah0726 & @jamiesc58 Thanks ladies! I/m hoping it's just a reaction. Fingers crossed, tomorrow I will avoid any lotion and soap and see how that goes, otherwise Monday I'm going into the Dr's office to see what's going on.

Similarly, we also swear by a swaddle for the tiny ones vs. a sleep sack. We used SwaddleMe's until DS was rolling over, then used the Merlin's Magic Sleepsuit to transition out of the swaddle. That worked pretty well. The SwaddleMe's come in cotton and fleece, so you can get lighter weight ones for summer.
Should I register for a high chair? I know we won't need it for a while, and I live in an apartment so storage is an issue. On the other hand, I do have some relatives and family friends who are generous and like to give "substantial" gifts, and that would be a great one to be gifted. I guess if it comes unassembled in a box we could store that away until our little guy needs it. Also, is it tacky to register for things you won't need for a while?

I would, you could always store it away or return it for gift cards until you do need it. It's a great "gift item"
I ordered my breast pump today! I'm not sure if it was too early to do this...but I don't think they send it to you until about a month out anyways? I had about 6 options from my insurance company and narrowed it down to Medela and Spectra 2. After doing about an hour of research online I went with the Spectra. I feel like I made a pretty quick decision, but I figured I learned all I need to know because it was pretty much a toss up between the two for me.
I was texting my sister and told her I ordered it and she said "oh how your life is changing..." I'm super excited about my pump!
@Hannah0726 I can order mine 60 days before my due date. I have a reminder on my calendar for the morning I'm eligible--I don't know why I'm excited to be able to order it but I am!
We've been on 6 wait lists for daycare since the first week of January and got a call today that one has an opening for November. Doing a major, major happy dance over here. Since when did daycare spots opening up become the highlight of my week!?!?
So the fire alarm went off in the middle of the night last night. And... in case anyone was wondering if the babies can hear things at this age - Oh Yeah. He *freaked out* then wiggle fussed for like a half hour. Not a happy baby in there after that!

I definitely would. You'll actually need it sooner than you think -- many babies start solids around 4 months (although some wait til 6). That's way sooner than you'll need the convertible carseat, and lots of people register for those. Might as well!
Is anyone else's bump app wrong on how far along they are? It has been since it updated, I checked and my due date is right but it has me further along then I am...
Yes, I noticed this too. Mine says I'm one day farther along than I am. But I noticed on day 6 it says 1 day before next week or something like that. So it still turns the next week on time but always shows me as being one day ahead. I don't like it.
I went to the mall with my sister yesterday and I was so exhausted last night. I forgot how something as simple as walking around the mall can be hard while pregnant. I almost feel like I'm in third trimester already but I'm only 24 weeks. Wtf.
@Lynnlove28 you are not alone! We went for a half hour walk around Central Park yesterday and I had to take a 3 hour nap as soon as we got back to the hotel. A day in NYC well spent....
@Lynnlove28@AliKay20 I'm with you ladies, we ran errands yesterday and I then needed a two hour nap. Luckily DH lets me lay around all day and doesn't disturb me.

If you have an option to store it elsewhere for a while then go for it. Honestly, the only things you NEED immediately are clothing, diapers, car seat, stroller, a baby bathtub and maybe a few other things. So of course you should register for things you will need later! It's not like you're registering for something the baby will use when it's 3 so it's not tacky at all.
