@TurtleMomma - Same here. I lost 112lb last year and people refuse to believe it was accomplished by change in diet and exercise alone. I've literally heard someone say "I'm sure she's on plexus or something and just doesn't want to admit it." ::eye roll::
People accused me of starving myself when I turned down dessert at parties and family get togethers, I get it. Besides, I was unemployed at the time and didn't have money to spend on diet products, lol. Broke AF!
@TurtleMomma - I haven't had anyone accuse me of starving myself, but I have a couple of friends who often accused me of being "ridiculous" about my diet and exercise. There's been a lot of "OMG- it's just ONE cookie" and "SERIOUSLY, you can't skip ONE night of Zumba?!" .............. Umm, well, no, "friends." I have a calorie goal and I intend to stay under it, even if it means not eating that ONE cookie. And no, I can't skip ONE night of Zumba because I splurged a little at lunch and now I have to work it off.
People don't understand that bodies are mechanical in nature. Losing weight is as simple as burning more calories than you consume. You just have to do the math and stick with it. The "sticking with it" part is where most people falter. Then they conclude they're speshul snoflakes who "can't lose weight" and therefore insist that people like us who figured it out and stuck with it must be "cheating" somehow. No, we just work for it. Get a life!
Whew! That was some tangent I just took off on! lol
I never got people's fascination with what other people eat. You do you, and I'll do me.
I'm off the wagon right now, lol. I've gained 6lb and I know exactly why. I've had problems in the past with being a little obsessive over the numbers so I'm trying to pull back a bit and give myself some slack. I'm still exercising regularly and feel alright, but if my options are not eat and get sick or eat Chic Fil A, well, that's a no brainer.
Oh! My UO: the terms "nipple nazi" and "breastapo" make me physically ill.
I have never heard either of these terms.
People use it to describe people who are a little too energetic in their pro-breastfeeding sentiments, simply put. I think it's disgusting to compare someone who is pro-breastfeeding with Nazis and the German secret police. I'm an advocate and La Leche League leader and, last I checked, my advocacy hasn't killed millions of Jews, Gypsies, Poles and the like. I truly get that some people are overzealous, but the comparison needs to stop.
FTR, I feel the same way about people saying "grammar Nazi".
If you've lost a significant amount of weight, good for you! I hope you're one of the 5% of people who actually are able to keep it off. 95% of people can't and will probably gain back more than they lost. It's NOT simple math. The body is a complex machine and every body is different. Some hoard their calories, some burn them easily. Some feel hunger much more strongly or frequently, other people forget to eat because their hormones don't scream at them to. That's not my unpopular opinion, it's science.
Unpopular opinion? Basically all memorials/public morning. I've seen people doing their "Aggie muster" posts recently in addition to the Prince stuff, and I have friends who memorialize the Aggie bonfire collapse every year. They didn't know these people, and even if they did, I feel like it's really meant to draw attention to themselves rather than to really celebrate someone else's life most of the time.
I don't like the "joke" memes that go around saying things like "In other sadcelebrity news, Kanye was found still alive at his home". I've seen lots about other people along that same line. Though I think Kanye, for example, is a complete tool I just don't see wishing another person dead for being a douche.
@ladyshark311 I'm with you. I hate the "In a world full of Kardashians, be a _______" memes. I cannot stand that family but I hate the implication that women should judge each other and try to be like one celebrity over another. Just do you.

I'm way late (thanks to time zones) but @nlane0723 my post wasn't directed toward you. I was just agreeing in the black lives matter rivet of the thread. I get that you were the initial poster but I wasn't trying to solo you out or anything.
I believe your apology has been well received. But there are many people who are unapologetically against the movement and many others who refuse to see the inequality that still exists.
Like most people, I support BLM. I always have. But as a blonde white female my support was always theoretical as I had never been discriminated for anything (besides the s-word, but that's another post for another day). Then I moved to a notoriously anti-foreigner country and I WAS "that person". I went to apply for my visa at the foreign office and knocked on the door where I had my appointment. I thought I heard a response but couldn't make it out, so I opened the door slowly to check. When the woman in her chair didn't get up or say anything I walked forward with my hand out to introduce myself and she screamed and flew backwards in her chair in terror. I hadn't realized that there was a yellow line on the floor foreigners weren't allowed to cross and I stepped over it. I will NEVER forget what it feels like to have someone be that terrified of me. It hurt deeply. And to think that happens DAILY to (primarily) men of color just breaks my heart. Sorry that was really long but just wanted to share what it feels like to walk in someone else's shoes. Most white women never will.
