I have several, but this is the likely the least unpopular one: There should be a life skills/ common sense test that you have to pass in order to graduate high school or reproduce.

I'm tired of the U.S. guidelines for pregnancy that basically say a pregnant woman needs to be thrown in a padded room and fed nothing but bread and water for 9 months. Tired of all the scare tactics and feeling like I have to google EVERYTHING I do, eat, and drink. If our guidelines were soooooooo perfect then how come we're still ranking 26th in the world in infant mortality? Freaking SOUTH KAREA has lower infant mortality rate! And Netherlands, with their lax drug laws! I'm not saying that all pregnant women need to go out and drink, smoke and get high, but I feel that the U.S. guidelines are downright patronizing to women and cause more stress and anxiety than help.

Here's mine: I don't enjoy TV shows or movies involving vampires, werewolves, witches, or zombies at all. I even hated Buffy in middle school and high school, even though my friends all loved it.
I love full beards and man buns... I wish DH would grow his hair out so he could do one. He does have a nice beard though and if he cut it I would honestly cry. Hair is sexy.
I can't stand Walking Dead or Game of Thrones. I will literally get up and leave the room (or a house on one occasion) if either of those shows are on. Just no.

@cjt121413 - your opinion is not unpopular with me! I think it's all hoakey.
After my my visit to the park today with DS, I do not think dressing children of different ages in the same outfit is cute. There was one family of boys, 2 year old twins and an older brother, probably 4. All in the same exact clothes, down to the shoes. Why? If I ever had twins I'd buy different stuff so they could share. It's one thing for photos or special events to be complementary, but to wear the same clothes? No.
The statement that a certain age gap between siblings is best. I really hate when you do tell friends and then they look at you and say ohh.. 2 years is perfect you don't want them too close or oh "girl you don't waste time, DD will only be 2". I think difference in age is a personal preference and should not be questioned...why is it okay to even make the statement. Maybe I am okay with age difference, maybe I planned it this way.

Yea no. Growing a human is an important process and requires some changes. I don't follow all the recs (sushi from trusted source, lunch meat every so often, runny eggs when I want) and my midwives are totally fine with these. Other countries have similar recs but some do not have as much of a consumer culture and have an easier time with moderation. If there's something you find on the internet that feels bogus, ask your midwife or OB. In my opinion, the amount of selflessness required by parenthood is NOTHING compared to skipping a glass of wine (if you choose to abstain) and a tuna sandwich for 9 months

the measurement for obstetric quality is perinatal mortality (which includes the first 28 days of life), not infant mortality. the US has one of the lowest rates of perinatal mortality in the world. yes people think pregnancy is an open invitation for advice, and some of it is exaggerated, mostly because people want black and white and don't truly understand risk ratios. always know the source; stick with evidence-based practices and know the difference between caution and absolute.
