We haven't really discussed names yet, but people constantly ask me about it. We're not going to tell anyone the name we choose until the baby is here, so we've taken a cue from Key & Peele and just saying the baby's name will be Triple Parakeet Shoes lol.
LOL Elway. You know, to me that doesn't seem THAT bad considering some of the names I have heard, but I wouldn't like it either. Recently I haven't heard any awful names pop up. For me they have to be REALLY out there for me to balk at them.
Kinda sorta related, I love the name Balian (bailey-en)., He was the defender of Jerusalem in the Crusades - If you've seen Kingdom of Heaven, Orlando Bloom's character. .I'm not super religious but I am a history buff and he was a BA. My husband doesn't like it though. No good reason other than he doesn't know anyone named that. I think it's different, yes but sounds similar to Damien. It's not like, I don't know, Moonbeam or something LOL. Anyway we've agreed on Jasper. Guess what? Neither of us know a Jasper. =P
December 2016 August Siggy Challenge: Embarrassing Back to School Pics
I've heard some bad ones but can't remember off the top of my head. Oh, I know 2 3 year olds names Khalisee and 1 newborn named Ramsay (after the bolten bastard)
When DH and i got married I wanted to name my first born Dakota (boy or girl). He hated it so much...when I let him get a dog, he named the dog Dakota just to eliminate the possibility of a baby Dakota. I did tell him he could pick the dogs name but seriously!?!
All said and done, our DD has a pretty normal first name with a game of thrones middle name (but it's still a real name). If this baby is a girl it will have an older but still normal first name with a star wars middle name (again, still a real name). If it's a boy, it will have a civil war general's name for first and Irish name as middle...unless DH comes up with a different middle that isn't Skywalker haha.
My DH has long said if it's a girl he wants her to be named Haleigh Brooke....not bad right? Well, turns out the only reason he picked that name is because that's the name of Eminem's daughter.....VETO! lol. I love Eminem but not that much. Plus I'm a Holly and I hate hate hate my name and all H names. It wasn't even my birth name, just a nickname that stuck >:(

@brittnic86 if you name him Gotham, you could roll over to DH in the middle of the night when the baby cries and whisper "Gotham needs you." An acquaintance jokingly had the same idea...but it may be worth the sleep.
These are great! DH and I discussed names once, last summer. It hasn't really been brought up again. I know he vetoed every girls name I liked - so there is that. Most were after TV characters, ha! He liked the one boy name I had, but we'll see.
One of my cousins, him and his wife are expecting a baby in July/August and when they did the gender reveal to family on Easter, they gave the name they were possibly thinking. It rhymes with the F word (think Huckelberry Finn). I thought it was cute, but my aunt was not a fan. And then thinking of the fact that it rhymes with said F word, that could be odd growing up. So, not a bad name but something to consider when naming.

HAHAH that's priceless!
DH has rejected a lot of the names I've come up with. He comes up with some terrible ones too, though I think he mostly does this in jest. DH is a big Cavs fan, and has suggested LeBron on multiple occasions. NOPE.
I love, love, love the name Tova-Bethany. DH hates it. He likes the name Madison, which I can't stand. Yes, it's a pretty name, but her nickname would be Maddy, and I had a teacher named Miss Maddy and she was a real witch. We have names picked out now that we both agree on now.

For L H almost demanded that we use Dale Richard as it is a family name. Since his MN is Richard I said we could stick with that and leave Dale back in the 60's were it belongs.
Some that came around last time were pretty bad. I'll see if I can find them.

DH joking calls LO 'lil Monty. He doesn't like any of the names I've picked out, but his name choices suck. He says if I buy him a signed Tom Brady poster he will give me all rights to baby naming. It's $900 but it might be worth it...
@mamawino I teach at a barre studio that also has a pole studio. One of the instructors is Roxy. Exactly the bleached blonde, bright pink/red lipstick, thick eyeliner, etc that you'd expect!
Ohhh my dh name suggestions are just silly..hence us arguing over our DD and coming up with my mom and mil middle names. I have not heard any recently but I am sure some will arise. Just wait for that baby name post that comes up on boards at about the 14-20 week mark. My last board.. There were some "interesting" choices. Like astrophysic terms used as middle names..true story.

My husband and brother have joked in the past about naming a boy Ichabod with the nickname Icky.....unfortunately I know longer think it's a joke and it's grown on them Never going to happen lol.

Ha, my name is Roxanne. My father got to pick my name and he picked Roxy. My mom insisted I needed a 'grownup' name though. Whenever someone tries to call me Roxy now I tell them I'm not a stripper!
@amylianne totally unrelated but I saw you teach at a barre studio....have you ever meat Andrea Rogers the creator? I know she visits studios on and off...
I had the worst foot in mouth moment with #2. I was at a playgroup and didn't know a few of the women when I was asked about names. DH was set on one I hated and I was talking about how I was going to punch him because he and a couple of his relatives were already calling the baby said name. Anyways yeah I mentioned how much I hated the name and one of the moms was like "that's my sons name"

@whitneyp26 Your story made me laugh out loud!!! Totally the type of thing I would do. And... TIGER? That reminds me of the Seinfeld episode of when George Castanza decided he would name his daughter "Seven."
My husbands cousin just named a baby girl Dagny.... Not sure what to think of that. He also works for DHS with the state of Illinois (worst state I the universe), and has seen the name Abcde (pronounced AB-city). Really?
@brittnic86 if you name him Gotham, you could roll over to DH in the middle of the night when the baby cries and whisper "Gotham needs you." An acquaintance jokingly had the same idea...but it may be worth the sleep.
@1MommyRunnerhahahaha that's exactly what his argument was!
But hey, you guys got to 27 posts before someone started mentioning urban legend names, so good job.
Honestly, at this point, it's probably not an urban legend anymore. I'm sure someone has named their child that already.
Ladasha has been recorded, la, and le have been recorded, but the numbers are far too small for everyone who claims to have seen one on the Internet to be truthful.
This name is brought up in every bad name thread, and it's nearly always vague third hand accounts. It's the pregnancy board equivalent of a dude saying he's 6ft on a dating profile when he's really 5'8".
MH hasn't suggested any truly terrible names, but my problem with his names is he seems to like all middle age lady names, like Linda (no offense to anyone named Linda here). Or name a boy after my dad (my dad hates his name). His names are just... terrible. And then he rejects basically anything I come up with, my favorite girl names being Adeline and Georgiana.

I'm not wild on (girl) names that end 'ynn', but my favorite name (Ava) is so overdone! Lots of strange suggestions, though. It's the balance of not wanting something too strange or too mainstream.
Before we knew that DD2 was in fact a girl DH and I were tossing a few names around. He's been hoarding boy names for years and is afraid to share them because he thinks it's going to jinx the baby's sex. HA! Well I finally had squeezed a name out of him... Kip he says with a straight face. Well poor DH. He must of been truly upset that I physically laughed at his choice and gave him a flat out No. He refuses to share with me anymore. So sorry DH, but Kip is off the table!
Witneyp26 - Haha... Well if it helps deter him let him know it's not original. I have a friend who's legal name is Tiger... He's a surprising cool cat none the less;)
oh man some of these names are badddd! LOL My mom went crazy yesterday and sent me 25 different names...some included Jorja, Dirk, Kirt, Boadie, and Dahlia. The last one isn't TERRIBLE but I'm pretty sure its a flower...and my step sister just had her baby girl..Poppy which most of the family has completely side-eyed so far! I'm not following suit and using flower names mom...just no
