Took pics for our announcement today...I can't believe we're sending it out on Friday, it's so close!! I apologize if it's massive. We're huge coffee lovers so it seemed fitting!
I had to tell my boss today. I either had the worst morning sickness so far or a stomach virus and couldn't keep anything down. He was happy, as he knows DH and I have been TTC. I hated telling him like this, but when I can't work because I'm running to the bathroom every 5 minutes I think my boss deserves to know. Thank God I work from home, or else I would have been so much more miserable today. Still managed to get what needed to be done done, and I signed off 2 hours early with his permission.

This is precious! I'm so excited you are having twins!
Awesome Kid #1: Born September 2013! Awesome Kid #2: Due November 2016!
Love seeing all these announcements!! I don't think we'll do anything on Facebook until after my ultrasound at 20 wks. so I like to live vicariously through all of you.
Love those! Very personalized and meaningful. My DH wantd to do a Star Wars movie themed announcement with 2 light sabers and a 3rd mini one - I love his dorkiness but always wanted something with my pups too - can you guys suggest a compromise? Lol
Also, I'm 8 weeks and my diet has been less than desirable...not drinking enough water, eating lots of carbs and not feeling the protein. It's not too late to turn it around is it??
@phoenix870509 I had to tell my boss too. We're planning a major project, and it just felt wrong not telling him I'm going to be out for 3 months at the end of this year/beginning of next.
My random: decided to make pancakes for dinner tonight because my stomach decided to be a jerk again. As I was making them, I was wondering why the batter was so thin and the pancakes weren't really browning properly. Realized right at the end that I forgot to add an egg to the batter. So we had milky-flour-cakes for dinner. Hooray pregnancy brain! DH laughed and ate them anyway. They weren't inedible, at least. I think I'm giving up for today and going to bed early.

My company is officially getting maternity leave!! I'm so happy I could cry. It's been in the works for a while, then seemed like it wasn't going to happen. But, got confirmation last week that it's a go. Even more fun, I manage the company's communications and get to work on all the fun ways we get to announce and get people excited! The policy calls for two months fully paid, then I'll exhaust my sick and vacation for the other month. I can't gif, so....!!!!!

It's super fun to see and hear about everyone's announcement ideas!! Our BMB is a creative bunch, and I love it.
@phoenix870509 Glad you got to tell your boss! Sorry it was under the circumstance of sickness, but it's good to hear that he was happy for you. I had planned to tell mine yesterday, but I chickened out... He's was my main academic advisor throughout college and grad school before I became his employee, which makes it feel like it's still my 18-year-old college freshman self admitting that I'm KU... I know that the more I dwell on it the more awkward I'm going to make it (very unnecessarily), so FX I can make myself spill the beans today!
I mentioned to H yesterday morning that our 11-week fetus had just become the size of a key lime, and that it was giving me a hankering for key lime pie. Before I'd finished talking, he was putting on his shoes and heading out the door en route to the grocery store. So yes, we had pie for lunch. No regrets.
I finally weaned my son. It's been a long, long road. I have used the Baby Connect app (can't say enough good things about it) since he was born and tracked every feeding. Incredibly useful, I'm happy to have it for LittleOne this time around as well. I was curious about my accumulated efforts and used it's awesome graph option to mine this data. It's so unbelievable when put in terms like this:
I estimate I forgot to enter maybe every 15th time, so that doesn't even compute everything, but I'm still insanely proud of our efforts. It's the biggest undertaking I've ever had to do, but it's worth it. I got lucky. It's not the kind of thing you put on FB, so I thought maybe here. I have to tell someone dude!
@HomeyDontPlayThat Oh man! Congratulations! What an amazing accomplishment! I'm definitely going to have to look into that app. I'm an engineer, and I live off of data. DATA NOM NOM NOM!

Thank you so much! Yeah, what we loved about it was that it syncs with your partner's app as well, so their entries appear in your app as well. So DH would give him a bottle or change him and he could enter data as well. It gives graphs, counts, options to enter anything from food you give them, playtime activities, medications, temperature readings, Dr's visits, milestones, immunization tracking, etc.
I loved it. Being armed with all that data for those first 6 months at the Pedi office was incredible. I knew exactly when he had tummy issues, dropped off feedings, how often he was sick, etc. Loved it, definitely recommend. It's about $5 per download, so figure $10 for you and partner.
I got outed at the gym this morning. I'm a crossfitter and I generally train with one coach and one group of people. He's out today, so one of the other coaches stepped in to sub. I'm only 9 weeks, and mentioned it to her quietly (because it feels like something a coach should know... I'm pretty winded and I definitely don't do the Rx weight)... and she practically yells, "Oh, that's ok, you can do all this during pregnancy." It was loud enough that my group started telling me congratulations. (Which, have to admit, felt nice but I'd prefer to have waited a few weeks.)
Yes, lady, I know. I was telling you so you understood my situation and didn't think I was hungover or mailing it in this morning after I go outside to dry heave. Now my whole training group knows, which is fine I guess, but I was certainly looking forward to telling everyone myself... in like a month. Husband is LIVID and thinks I should report it to the gym. I'm on the fence and may just let it go. We'll see how the hormones sway in the next day or two.
@kmmnocalThat's a bummer. I don't think I would report it to the gym, but I do think I would take the trainer aside and let her know that she was pretty tactless. When you share necessary medical info with your trainer it's obviously supposed to be private.
@kmmnocal I would be so pissed. I haven't even told my parents yet, so I'd be pretty livid if my trainer yelled it out to everyone at the gym before I even told my family.

Yeah, I think it falls under "bummer" to me. We've told immediate family (they all live far away) and close friends (who are like family here). I think if I'd worked harder to keep it secret, @shamrocandroll, I would be more angry than bummed. I did kind of freak out, so I think she knows she messed up. Probably bigger things I should spend energy worrying about at this point.
@kmmnocal I think YH is overreacting. Yes, you'd hope a trainer would be more discreet. But to be fair, you did say it right out in the open (as opposed to taking her into the office or something) and you (presumably) didn't preface with "please don't share this with anyone..." As obvious as it seems to any of us, I would never assume a stranger knows pregnancy "etiquette" unless I'd given them specific instructions. In any case, sorry you were outed early.

@HomeyDontPlayThat congrats girl. It's a HUGE accomplishment. You should be proud. And honestly, if you want to post that on Facebook I say do it. People post about way less important crap. We used the baby connect app especially because my son has multiple care takers. It's great.
I voted in the primary this morning. I'm into politics and honestly the fact that we have the privilege of voting makes me weepy. There was a terrorist attack in Kabul today and here in the US were safely voting and then going to work after like its no big deal. We're so lucky it's not even funny.

I second this app, it was so worth it! And totally so useful when DH or my mom was watching her. I could pull up the app from elsewhere and see how many ounces she ate and if she was sleeping.
Y'all, I legitimately teared up while making dinner tonight... Cooking is my first love, but I've been so totally turned off by it for the past month and a half that I was nervous I might somehow lose interest in it for good. Tonight was my first night back in the kitchen, and while I was chopping basil I got this big, beautiful whif and knew everything was going to be alright, and the tears started coming. It was like a moment out of Ratatouille or something... pregnant me is so ridiculous.
I may or may not have ordered Bombshell perfume because of the earlier post on here about Zika. I live in a zone where it's not even a threat but what the hell. Why not. Does a girl really need a legit reason to buy more perfume? I just hope it doesn't smell like ass.

OMG yes. Every time there's a GTKY at work or anywhere else that turns into "what are you thankful for", my answer is always that I'm thankful to be an American. So many people hate on the US, and while I agree that it's not at all perfect, we are incredibly lucky to live in a first world country.
I apologize in advance that my weekday random is a complaint.
I helped a colleague with an event yesterday and in return she gave me her cold. I leave for vacation in 2 days. Seriously. Displeased. It would be wrong to send her an email that just said "you gave me your cold...", right?
@mom2fallbabies how rude! I hope you get over it quickly and enjoy your vacation!
@missameliapond I haven't gotten any, but I've seen people on other BMBs especially complain of people PMing about joining a FB group and stuff (like people they don't recognize). I'm guessing they're bots? eta: I would utilize the block function for them...definitely weird.
My random...tomorrow is my birthday and I totally forgot until a coworker mentioned it today. They asked what my plans were and I said, 'nothing'...which is true On a Happy note, my boss gave me some yummy cupcakes from this fancy bakery - me eating those is my party!
