Calling all those that are 9 weeks!

hey ladies,

i have a question more specific to women around 9 weeks pregnant. Is anyone else having their symptoms subside? I had really awful morning sickness and it's starting to disappear. I never had sore boobs so I can't gage that one. Still tired and peeing a lot. Just curious if any of you are having similar changes?

Re: Calling all those that are 9 weeks!

  • My sickness has subsided tremendously over the past week. But I'm also on a full dose of Diclegis, so I might not be of much help!

I think the placenta starts taking over around this time, which can help with the crappiness.

  • Nope. It's worse, if anything. I had a brief reprieve earlier this week though. For two days straight I was almost normal. All pregnancies are different though. According to one of my apps week 10 is "on average" the worst week for morning sickness, and then it's supposed to get better for most women.

With my last pregnancy I actually got more sick after the end of the first tri rather than better. Fingers crossed that doesn't happen to you (or me again!).

  • I am almost 11 weeks, week 9 was the worst and only today (10 weeks 5 days) my appetite finally came back and I feel better.
  • 11 weeks but my nausea went from constant to occasional at 9 weeks.

  • Mine have been better, but also I've been better at eating smaller meals, taking naps, and not over doing it.
  • I'm 9.5 and mine has improved significantly over the past few days. I'm less nauseous, have less food aversions, and have more energy. Of course, that's no guarantee it won't go the other way again, but for now I'm enjoying my ability to stay up past 8pm.
  • Currently 10 weeks but week 9 for me was a turning point. I was sooo sick up til that week. I've been virtually symptom free since then. Nothing to worry about IMO, your hormones might just be leveling out already.
  • @ficbot I'm 10w5d today too, and today was my first normal feeling day in a long time!  ☺

  • Well I thought I was good... The past two days I've had almost no MS just very minor nausea at times.

Then I post this and head to the grocery store and damn near lost it in the parking lot! Super cute bending over gagging like "no I'm not drunk just pregnant!"

literally hubby said that to someone walking past....

Oh God that's awful! It's seems extra rude to have morning sickness after the first trimester! Let's seriously hope that doesn't happen!
  • I'm 8w5d today. I never really had many symptoms to begin with. Boobs/nips still sore, food aversions aren't as bad as they were, but it's hard to tell because of the oral thrush I got from taking antibiotics. I think the thrush is causing some nausea and other food aversions... I never really had nausea or m/s before, though. I'm just hoping for a good appointment tomorrow.

I never had MS with my first either .... Don't worry everything will be great! Good luck tomorrow!
  • Good luck tomorrow @MissAmeliaPond!

I'm 9+2 and have started to have intermittent instead of constant nausea, but it's stronger. I guess that's better?
  • I'm approaching 9 weeks and my nausea has subsided substantially.

Oh its good to see this for others as well. The 8 week mark was my worst. Throwing up non stop for 2 days straight had me heading to the hospital. Couple days later I felt ammmazziinggg. I was kinda worried at how good I felt. Let's just hope those days were the peak of it....

  • I'm 8weeks 5 days. My symptoms pretty much took a break between 5 and 7 weeks. They are still coming and going, but my fatigue had been intense this week and I've found myself closer to actually throwing up this week, then any other week. I don't mind at all to be honest. I have PGAL brain and was diagnosed with a MC bc of a low HCG rise at 5-6 weeks before we got a good heartbeat on the ultrasound. Feeling like crap makes me feel like have a better chance of seeing another good heartbeat at 9+1 on Monday, so I will take it!

Wait are you guys going by ovulation date? Because @MissAmeliaPond you were here when I got here and I got here around 5 weeks (from LMP). I'm now 11w2d. Am I confused? Can I just not do math? (All possible)
  • I'm almost 11 weeks, but week 8 and 9 were the worst as far as symptoms.  Week 10 has been hit or miss but overall pretty good.  I'm hoping week 11 is even better.

Some people (me included) found out about their pregnancies as early as the middle of week 3, so some people who were here when you got here could be 2 weeks behind you.

  • Also I did IVF so they don't use my ovulation date as the indicator :-)

I got my BFP at 3 weeks 3 days.
  • I started feeling a little better around week nine. Still had my rough patches but there was definitely some much needed improvment. Week 10 is when I started feeling normal again.

Ok.. Sorry for that creep question lol. I didn't realize you could find out so early!
  • I'm 9w2d and I'd like to report that my symptoms are easing up, but I think they're just changing. Rather than throwing up everyday from my nausea, I'm not throwing up at all and just feel sick. I almost think that's worse. I'm hungry all the time, even when I'm sick to my stomach and if I don't eat, it gets worse. Ughhh!

At the moment my boobs aren't as sore as they were a few days ago, but they're still pretty darn big. And I'm still bloated, gassy and have slight ute cramping now and then.

Oh second tri, I can't wait for your hopeful sweet relief.

@whaat yup, I got my BFP at 13dpo (3w6d). Those of us who came over from TTGP were charting also and we're using O date to calculate due date, as well. If I used LMP, I'd be 9w2d and baby would be measuring small, so I prefer to use the O date (which is the more accurate date anyway).

  • Don't jinx yourself! I've had 2 glorious days followed by 5-6 days of absolute puking hell. I've repeated that cycle a few times. Just enjoy and don't overthink it.

I had a 2 day hiatus from morning sickness kind of worrying me,  only to get "morning" sickness ALL DAY for the last week, ugh! Enjoy the lull while you can!

Ok that explains it! But now I kind of have a follow up question to this.. What about people who's baby is measuring correctly according to LMP? Is that a big baby or do they just account for that in the measurements? Or is it just less reliable than i think?

Since I started charting, I found that I generally O'd later (CD17-19). People with a regular 28-30 day cycle who O on CD 12-14 are probably right on track with using LMP to calculate due date, since LMP calculation is based on a "typical" cycle, anyway. Normally if baby is measuring +/- a couple of days, the doctor won't adjust the LMP due date since ultrasound measuring isn't super precise anyway. Does that make sense? Lol. @KilgraveMadeMeDoIt please correct me if any of this explanation was wrong. :) I can take it.

  • @missameliapond You're right. There's about 5-7 days of wiggle room on measurements by ultrasound in the first trimester (it's more later on) because of the difficulty of measuring something so small (at 6 weeks you're talking a couple mm wide and not even a cm long!) Later on, the variation in measurements is more due to growth variation between babies than difficulty measuring, but it makes for a pretty big window of possible dates. By the third trimester, you don't change the EDD unless ultrasound is more than three weeks off (per the SOGC, anyway. Different providers, different rules.)

Ultrasound just isn't useful for exact, to-the-day dating. But it is damn useful for women with irregular cycles or who may have mistaken a first trimester bleed for a period (that happens a lot) and so may actually be weeks ahead of where she thinks.

  • The hardest part of all this is that anything can mean anything!!! I had that happen in a previous pregnancy where I miscarried. But this time I have had symptoms come and go, day by day, have been completely freaked out that it was happening again and then go for the ultrasound and got to see the little peanut move. Its hard and scary I know!! Far easier said that done....but TRY not to overthink everything!! (says the woman who overthinks everything!!!) TRY being the operative word. Best of luck!!!
  • I am 9 weeks 4 days and I have noticed a significant dip in my nausea. Between weeks 5 and 7 I was so nauseous that I could barely do anything. That has dimished. I hope it will be completely gone soon! Haven't thrown up yet so I am praying it doesn't start now! But I feel well..ultrasound was awesome and baby was wiggling so all the sickness is worth it!
