So I really hate to start a topic on this again as we have somewhat discussed it before.. But the reason I'm doing so is because I had to see my doctor yesterday due to increase and BP and found out I'm 2.5cm and 70% thinned. Been having irregular contractions as well. I am on bed rest til Monday when I will see my doctor again. He wants my swelling down and I am not quite 36 weeks yet.
Soooo... Today several times after peeing I noticed small pieces of what I can only describe as (TMI, sorry!).. Large booger looking things in the toilet. Nothing on the TP when wiping. It's been the last two times I've gone to the bathroom and now I am having some dull crampy pains. Could this be my MP coming little at a time? Is it something else I am unaware of? It's after hours so my OB is closed and I really don't want to bug the on call doctor about a MP question but I am very curious as I'm slightly concerned labor may be around the corner. Just want to be prepared and make sure my LO will be healthy and safe.
Sorry for the gross thread

... At least I didn't post pictures!
Re: Really hate to post this (MP) NO picture.
I'm at 35w6d (so it sounds like pretty close to where you are?) and haven't been having any "real" contractions as far as I know (although I'm a first-timer, so take that for what it's worth). I have my next routine checkup on Monday, so I guess I'll ask for a cervical check at that point, but for now my plan is to just keep on keepin' on, since the consensus seems to be that the plug alone doesn't really predict very much.
My doula said though that a lot of times people don't even notice sometimes bc it could happen so slowly over time and you could just confuse it with normal discharge.
My understanding is that it's really not predictive of anything in isolation. The only thing that seems to be for sure is that it might be a signal to pay closer attention to the other symptoms that might occur around that time. If you're not sure whether what you're feeling is broken water vs. discharge, or real contractions vs. BH, then in those instances you might look to the mucus plug as a potential piece of additional context to think it's one thing over the other. But in and of itself, losing the plug is basically meaningless.
