@lecool while I hated opening gifts at my bridal shower, I think that if I ever have a baby shower, I would probably open the gifts... Even though I hate it... Because I see your side of it too... I mean, tbh my favorite part of a shower is the gift opening time... I just don't particularly love doing that myself. LOL

My UO is that I can't do tea. I don't like it at all... but I am going to try the green tea thing to see if it helps me along. I think tea tastes like gross juice you put too much water in.
Agreed. I love the way it smells (the flavoured ones at least) but then it never tastes like it smells. I referred to it as 'hot garbage water' on a post last week. But now I think I want to try green tea for CM and I'm trying to figure out how to do it so that maybe I actually enjoy it.
I love Tazo Zen tea. (Starbucks brand) It's green tea with lemongrass and spearmint. Smells as good as it tastes. I drink one or two cups a day. My OBGYN said 2 cups max though.
@megs7911 I know, unsettling description lol. Used to feel the same about oysters but I got over that. But corn yes, a cob on my plate looks like this (and trust me I tried to find exploding eye gifs, too gross) @melissam090@Steelerfan3878 I'm on the fence about Johnny depp. He's got that laid back artistic attractiveness. But after looking at him in movies from Benny&Joon to Pirates I can definitely see the greasiness you speak of. More attractive as an actor than a person maybe?

I had to open presents at my bridal shower and it's so weird. I don't think anyone likes it. It's awkward for the gift opener and everyone watching. Especially if you gave someone a smaller gift than the person before you. Do you think it's rude if I wait until everyone's gone to open anything?
YES. I hated opening gifts at my bridal shower. I found I felt pressured to keep up a running commentary with lots of exclamation points the whole time and there's only so much you can say about both towels, you know. I have 0% problem being the center of attention and I hated it so I can only imagine how people with any sort of social anxiety feel.
@RatParade - I second you! I hated opening the gifts at my bridal shower but my mom forced me. (Ha! that sounds funny coming from a 31 year old woman) She, and everyone I know, said it's just part of the party and it's what you have to do. But you know what? F-that! If and when I have a baby shower, I'm not going to open the presents in front of everyone!
Opening gifts at my bridal shower was the most awkward thing ever. But, I also think it depends on your audience. A lot of people like looking at all the cute baby stuff, and want to see what you got. My family, for example, would be upset about not getting to see all the gifts. I think seeing baby shower gifts (cute little outfits, toys, etc.) is more exciting than the toasters and bedding sets that you typically open at Bridal Showers.
That being said, I think that you should be allowed to do whatever makes you feel comfortable.

Hey, move to the UK. We don't do "bridal showers" here. We must just be tight buggers or something, no idea why we don't do them. I can imagine it is awkward opening those gifts though, but I'd still put up with it for a free toaster and some new towels
@MelissaM090 - Haha I was just trying to think of who called tea "hot garbage water" recently! I love fruity teas, but have always thought unflavored and green tea are gross. May have to get on the green tea for CM bandwagon though!

Here's my opinion. I love baby showers. I love seeing funny onesies and cute stuffed animals and all of it. I feel like bridal showers are boring AF.
Oh wow, the bamboo cutting board that was on your registry! What a surprise!
Oh wow, the silver Kitchenaid mixer you registered for? How interesting!
Wow, you got a set of 6 white wine timbers and 6 red wine tumblers? Oh and 6 Pilsner glasses? Oh yeah you needed to unwrap one of each so we could see. Wow, so fascinating that they got the exact ones on your registry!
My related UO is that I hate buying gift wrap/gift bags and cards. I feel like it's such a waste of money. You can't get a card for a shower or wedding under $3. Then gift wrap is another $3. I'm spending $6 on something that will be immediately discarded. Soooo wasteful. I try to go in on group gifts whenever I can to save the money spent on cards. If I can go in with 3 other people it's like $18 in savings only having to buy one card and gift bag instead of 4.

I know it sounds childish (even to me), but I wouldn't feel this way if I knew everyone wouldn't automatically assume it. Like, I love hearing about people getting KU and having babies because it's a wondrous, joyous thing, and a new stage in life. However, my family and friends all still operate in high school mode and have already asked one of my KU cousins the "are you sure you want this or is it because everyone else is doing it" so I know they'll ask me too. Ugh, stupid nosy busybodies.

@Megzb510Yes!!! I hate spending money on cards--you know it's just getting thrown out!! I always shop the 99 cent section at walmart and buy the ugliest/cheesiest cards ever because that's all that's available in the 99 cent section, but I refuse to spend more. Also, I've been known to use thank you cards (since we always have some of those lying around) for any occasion. All you have to do is cross out "thank you" and write "happy birthday" (or whatever suites the event). Wa-la! A homemade card
@Megzb510@felix08 oh man I HAAAAAAAAAAATE greeting cards. Like, I have aggressive feelings toward them. They fill me with rage. They are insincere, wasteful, and insipid. Just thinking of greeting cards gives me the stabbies.
Late to the game today but only because I just read the post. I absolutely LOVE the new post where people who got BFP write when they tested, things done different, etc. We totally needed that! But it is SO irritating scrolling through the ten thousand "congrats" posts looking for the BFP posts. Wonder if there's a way to maybe limit the congrats posts to the tww or maybe just "like" the BFP posts but not comment?
