FTM here and first pregnancy as well. I will be 19 weeks tomorrow and I am not confident about feeling baby move. I do have an anterior placenta and I understand what that means and have been told by doctors it could be 24 weeks when I feel baby at all.
I just want to see if I am not alone. I keep having other FTM with anterior placentas feeling babies at 15/16 weeks and so on and its frustrating. I also have been getting comments of if I dont feel baby moving something could be wrong.
I thought about a long time ago making a FTM check in thread weekly but kept forgetting to ask on here and I think it may be too late for one now.
I am just trying to not stress but I have been prone to severe anxiety and pregnancy has been making it resurface. I was doing so good first trimester.
Re: 19 weeks and I still haven't felt my baby move inside or out...
Did you happen to see the anterior placenta thread? There's a bunch of us not feeling movement yet. Hang in there.
Try to just remember that you will feel movement eventually, and that so long as you have no negative symptoms (horrible lasting cramps, heavy red bleeding, etc) that there is no cause for concern. Easier said than done, I know. Plus, you're probably getting pretty close to your anatomy scan, so you should be able to see baby moving. I've heard that once you've had that and you can see when the motion happens it gets a bit easier to identify when you feel it. Not that it's stronger, but you start to learn what to look for.

It's a BOY!
I know what you mean when you say it is frustrating, I see all these people feeling flutters or movement and it makes me sad that I don't feel anything. To the point I get severe anxiety and I was convinced my baby was dead. We did have an ultrasound on Monday ans baby is doing well so now I feel better but I am desperate for the reassurance the kicks would give me.
Being pregnant after a loss and infertility really has made me paranoid.

@Jabreen My official anatomy scan is on the 21st! I am really nervous about this was more than all my others. I already know we are having a boy because we paid for an early elective scan at 15 weeks. I am on a few FB groups not connected to The Bump that I was added to through *other* sites. A few have had losses this week and last and found out at their official anatomy scan baby had passed. Thank you for your reassuring words.
@Alyeena You are very right I am little jealous maybe that I havent felt my sweet child yet.

Having felt it now every day for about a week, I can tell you that I now recognize instances where I felt the same thing and chalked it up to gas or twitching earlier on. Baby has so much room in there that the movement can be pretty light and you might not know that's what it is, can even feel like a vibration or pull in the lower abdomen. I think this is why the norm is that you should feel it around 18-22 weeks, because a lot of women won't even notice it early on (and that's not with an anterior placenta). Baby also loves it when you move so if you're busy at work or walking around doing errands, you might be dozing him off to sleep (this is why women complain that baby wakes them up at night kicking up a storm in the later months).
When I started feeling her, it was only when I was sitting down quietly, not focused on the TV, or lying on my right side. Now I feel kicks on my bladder and more recently a bit higher but I've seen her kicking and stretching her entire body in ultrasounds (when I was 18 weeks) and have felt nothing!
TL:DR, I would not worry about this yet, at least not until 24 weeks. I understand your concern and catch myself telling DH that I'm worried because I don't feel her. Seeing how much baby moves in u/s and me not feeling a thing, I do not believe that no movement at 19 weeks means something is wrong. It's hard but give it time. You never know, you might feel him tonight and be completely surprised!
Edited her to him after I saw you're having a boy (congrats!) I guess me having a girl has me used to saying her

@smashbox29 - it will happen eventually. I just hit 24 weeks and have only been feeling my baby move for just over a week. I also have an anterior placenta. We went from feeling nothing to both hubby and I being able to feel her move. You'll definitely know it when it happens - it was unmistakable.
Rest easy. I've read as FTMs, we might not even realize we are feeling movement because it's so subtle.
Do you have a doppler? If not, look into getting one. With a doppler you can hear the baby moving, so it will help ease your mind a bit. I have an Angel Sounds doppler, and it only cost me about $30.

Try to be patient and as long as everything else is ok, chances are that baby is just hanging out.
