Cd/DPO: 28/ either 12 or 15 dpo. I thought 15 but my app thinks I'm 12dpo. Now that AF is late I'm thinking the app is right.

    Timing: -5, -2, 0

Testing: I tested Saturday and bfn. Since my OB date is somewhat up in the air I'm just going to wait.

R/R/CS: *TW - loss briefly mentioned*

In gearing up for my second AF after my loss in February. I've had a slight temp dip the last two days and cramping for about 5 days. I know AF is coming...I'm just getting sick of waiting. I'm usually really regular so I just want to get back on track.

GTKY: I am playing hooky today! What is your go to excuse when you want/need to skip work? Conversely, if you are a boss or teacher, what is the worst excuse you ever heard?

Im lucky, since I don't need anyone to cover me or anything like that at work I can get out of work pretty easily. All I have to do is email my boss and tell her I'm taking PTO.

R/R/CS: My BFF and her BF broke up (again) over the weekend and now they are back together.  I feel so conflicted.  As my BFF I'm happy she can work things out and isn't in pain emotionally, but at the same time I was hoping it would be for good this time.  The two aren't good together, many people see it.  I support her, but I also wish she could see what everyone else does.  Is that terrible of me?  I know it's not my place, it's just frustrating because I know she could have someone better and be 100% happy, not just happy most of the time.  Sighhh...

GTKY: I am playing hooky today! What is your go to excuse when you want/need to skip work? Conversely, if you are a boss or teacher, what is the worst excuse you ever heard?  I am the same as @sldp123 I use a migraine or just that I'm not feeling well.  Have fun on your day off @longliveregina!

R/R/CS: I felt unwell yesterday with a cold and hoped it was just somehow an aftermath of the sheer amount of chilli I used in our dinner on Sunday.  But no. It's worse today and I feel like poop.

On another note I had the scariest dream last night! I dreamt a strange man got into the bedroom and I was alone. The next minute he got into the bed. I freaked out. I literally jumped out of bed shouting WHO ARE YOU! GET OUT!!! and scared the bejesus out of SO. He coaxed me back into bed but my heart was pounding! It seemed so real!

GTKY: I am playing hooky today! What is your go to excuse when you want/need to skip work? Conversely, if you are a boss or teacher, what is the worst excuse you ever heard?

Hmm I don't really do this, I've done it in the past a long time ago and felt so guilty I stayed glue to the sofa incase someone somehow went past my window and saw me.

Testing: So I had a faint (but no need to squint to see) bfp on a equate test yesterday, but it was a blue dye and I have read that it gives a lot of false positives.  Which I think is the case for me because I got a bfn on a couple of first responses this morning using fmu.  I know it's still super early and I'm not out yet but I'm ready to just throw in the towel because it's so frustrating to be getting mixed answers and not knowing.  Current mood:

R/R/CS:  I will consider my above answer as my ''rant'' haha!  But I will rave by saying a little thank you to you ladies in this community.  Being new to this journey, I have learned so much from you guys by lurking around and reading your posts.  It really has helped me so much.  So thank you ladies *hugs!  Hope you all are having a beautiful week ahead.

GTKY: I'm such a bad liar that I would get caught with a white lie or bending the truth to get out of work haha!  So I'm usually upfront about why I'm taking off work whether it's family related or needing a personal day.  :)

R/R/CS: I'm really, really going to try to not go BSC this cycle.  For real this time.  I am forcing myself to only go into FF to enter data and not to just stare at my chart or look at the stupid pregnancy points or charts like mine. Data entry only.  We'll see how it goes, but I really just can't handle all the emotions the BSC brings right now.

GTKY: I am playing hooky today! What is your go to excuse when you want/need to skip work? Conversely, if you are a boss or teacher, what is the worst excuse you ever heard?
I have such a guilty conscience, so I can never play hooky.  I want to many times, but I just can't.  Not sure I can think of a bad excuse someone had before, but I have certainly had coworkers that I know were lying about being sick, and it would often fall on what was supposed to be their first day back from a vacation.
  • Month/Cycle: 8/8

    CD/DPO: 25/11

    Timing: -2

Testing: daily now - BFNs so far

R/R/CS: I'm trying not to think too much of it, but I'm at 11DPO and my temps are still high. They're slightly lower than my highest day (8DPO), but today went back up after yesterday. I took a look at a bunch of my old charts and out of something like 20 cycles, there were only 2 other times where my temp went back up at 11 DPO and only one other time that I wasn't spotting by 11DPO. I know none of this really means anything, but....well.....I had to overthink it obviously!! LOL. This is a critical few days for me - basically, if AF comes this week, I'll be heading to the RE for my blood test and then two weeks from now will head to my already scheduled RE appointment for a full work up. I'm really hoping Murphy's Law comes into play here! ;)

GTKY: I am playing hooky today! What is your go to excuse when you want/need to skip work? Conversely, if you are a boss or teacher, what is the worst excuse you ever heard? I don't call in sick often, so usually I can get away with just saying that I'm not feeling well.

R/R/CS: I've been comparing my past charts and this cycle it is a very slow yet distinct rise. As compared to previous ones where it was a bit erratic but many more highs and lows. Of course my BSC is in full force now cause this has to mean im totally KU right lol

GTKY: I am playing hooky today! What is your go to excuse when you want/need to skip work? Conversely, if you are a boss or teacher, what is the worst excuse you ever heard?

I usually use that im sick or my DS is sick. My boss is fairly laid back and doesnt really scrutinize the reasons, unless it becomes excessive. Hes a family guy too so he totally gets the sick kid excuse. Which more often than not is actually the reason I am not going to work.

Testing:  I am challenging myself (ha) to wait until at least 12dpo, which will be this upcoming Sunday. We'll see what the BSC thinks about that!

R/R/CS:  I have had AF type headaches on and off all day yesterday. Last night it was pretty bad, and today it's on and off again. I have NEVER had AF type headaches (they are different than normal headaches for me, I swear!) during the TWW, so I am SS like a mofo. My temp stayed EXACTLY the same today, so now I'm concerned my Mabis is temp favoring.  The BSC has officially started, but I managed not to pee on anything today. I keep thinking "well, my temps are basically at the exact same place they were last cycle, so I'm def not KU." Then I think, "I haven't had that temp dip in the beginning of the TWW yet that I've ALWAYS had, so I must be KU." omgee make it stop!

GTKY: I am playing hooky today! What is your go to excuse when you want/need to skip work? Conversely, if you are a boss or teacher, what is the worst excuse you ever heard?

Honestly, I hate to say this, but I don't play hooky from work. We don't have a maternity leave program, so I hoard all my sick/vacation days because I am required to use those if/when I get KU. (well, unless I elect to take FMLA unpaid--uhh no, as I am our only income.)  It is the stupidest most terrible thing ever.  *rant* However, I have a coworker who has got some of the best excuses I've ever heard (not). He always comes in at least 20 minutes late every day WITHOUT an excuse (case in point, he just arrived 24 minutes late)...but there are many days that he calls in after work has already started with the lamest ass excuse I have ever heard. Yesterday, it was that he had leg cramps in the night. LEG CRAMPS! We have heard that his washer isn't working, his dryer, his dishwasher, his furnace, his AC....we call that the "appliance rotation" list of excuses, lol. Several times he has called in and said his "CPAP machine wasn't working very well so he was going to be late." WTF. It drives me insane, because he has a better title than me and gets paid more. Can you tell that this makes me stabby?! lol, whatever!

R/R/CS:  I really need to be at home preparing and packing for my show this weekend. But here I sit at work... I'm pretty much discounting this month as far as a month where we could be pregnant because of the horrible timing.  I wish the month would fly by, AF would come, and I could start next month over again... Where we will have more time to commit to it all.. AND ALSO....Our 1 year anniversary is the 30th, so looking forward to that!

I feel a bit crampy, but that could be from my workout last night. Would like AF to show at this point so I can just feel hopeful again...this part of TWW SUCKS. Also, another "we're expecting" announcement from girls that are 3 younger than me. It was my choice to wait this long, just didn't have the need yet, but look, it's not as easy as the make it out to be!

Just want to move on from this. Good news, I can drink at the Billy Currington concert I am going to this weekend! Also, can drink for my birthday and don't have to hide it from people, that would be hard. On the negative side...no 2016 baby now :( On to 2017 birth months!

I teach college so 1) I get plenty of days off and don't feel the need to play hooky and 2) at most schools I can just cancel class if I need to - no excuse necessary. I don't usually do this though because I don't like to get behind.

@Zoey1019 The equate blue dye one wasn't a squinter.  It was faint but you could definitely see the + line there.  I just don't trust it from all the false positive reviews I read about online.  And then getting a BFN on first response test this morning.  Guess the waiting game continues!

I have to jump on the migraine bandwagon. I do get them when the weather pressure is bad or anytime I have an estrogen hike. I usually can't drive when I get them so it's perfect. However I think I've only used that one an excuse twice, I feel horribly guilty when I skip work.

R/R/CS: I expected AF yesterday evening and, sure enough, I got a little pink spotting right before bed.  Usually that means that the bitch shows her face within the hour.  I'm stupid enough to hold out hope, since I haven't seen anything except the tiniest brown spot first thing this morning, but my temp dropped to just above CL this morning, so I'm probably out.  I'm not cramping, though I am having an aggressive sense of fullness in the pelvic area.  I am still SS like a mofo, so it's probably better for me if AF just shows up already.

GTKY: I am playing hooky today! What is your go to excuse when you want/need to skip work? Conversely, if you are a boss or teacher, what is the worst excuse you ever heard? Meh.  I can't really ever skip work because of being a teacher, and my kids have too many real excuses (like, my dad got shot or my baby was sick) to give me fake excuses.  Occasionally, I'll get a ridiculous excuse for why they're late to class, but I just send those kids to the tardy table and that's the end of it.

    Timing: -4, -1

    Testing: Tomorrow

R/R/CS: :grimace: It's that time again where I start to get nervous. I expect a BFN.

GTKY: I am playing hooky today! What is your go to excuse when you want/need to skip work? Conversely, if you are a boss or teacher, what is the worst excuse you ever heard?
Currently SAH. Whenever I really, really didn't want to go to school I would say I had a migraine. I got them semi-regularly so mom never second guessed it.

R/R/CS: Temps are being a little weird. Is it normal for them to be back so close to the coverline during the LP?

GTKY: I am playing hooky today! What is your go to excuse when you want/need to skip work? Conversely, if you are a boss or teacher, what is the worst excuse you ever heard?
If I skip work it's normally because I didn't get enough sleep the night before, and I just tell my boss that I'd be useless because I got no sleep, so I'll use PTO.

    Cd/DPO:  22/6 (i think)

    Timing: -1 (i think?)

Testing:  Holding off until at least 12dpo.

R/R/CS:  Feeling kind of meh about this cycle.  I have been on both extremes of "this isn't our month" and "maybe I really AM KU"  Our timing wasn't great and I'm still figuring out my cycle.  On the other hand, I've been crampy and my BB's have been sore.  Naturally I have 'period amnesia' and can't remember the last 20 years of cycles to determine if this is normal for me.    Going to go one more cycle without charting, but then I'm on the bandwagon.

GTKY:  I try not to play hooky, because when I do get sick, it's a doozy and I usually need a couple of days.  If I need a personal day...I call it that.  But almost every day I lay in bed and talk myself off of the "hooky" ledge, since I don't love my job.

I hard idea how long it would be before I could make it back to this thread!!!

@krisnicole23 FX for a real bfp tomorrow morning!

@beff12 Yay!!!! Christmas baby for you!

@Zooey1019 Sorry about impending af. I think Im about to join you judging from my level of irrational irritation the last two days.

    Month: 7

    CD: 31/13 or 11

    Timing: good

    Testing: so many bfns

    RRCS: see below. AF approacheth.

GTKY: So, today the rain I am phasing hooky is because my mom, who normally watches C, had a doctors appointment and I am way to lazy to have multiple backup babysitters. Since my sister, my journal backup, had to work today, I am taking the day. Even though I get time off, I always feel like I need to make an excuse for my boss. Teachers don't get to take personal data like the rest if the weird, lol. People act like you can't prepare your kids for the state tests if you are absent once. It's been pretty great! We went to Target and ate waffles and snuggled watching SuperWhy. My heart is so full.

As for maternity leave, yeah, today pretty much sucks. I ate up all my accrued days Larry year when my son was born, and between legit sick days and days like today I have exactly 1.25  hours accrued, lol. My whole leave is going to be unpaid, sigh. We're just putting away money every month to carry us through a semester and the summer.

    Edited for word clarity.

We don't have a very good maternity policy, which is crazy considering how many teachers are women. But I have to save up as many sick days as possible, or risk taking 12 weeks for FMLA and not getting paid the entire time. I'm using a few days here and there for RE appointments, but my supervisor has gone through IF treatments and is amazing. She is willing to let me leave during the day and ask other teachers to cover for me so that I don't have to use up sick time. I've covered for so many teachers this year, they all owe me in some way, shape, or form, so I don't feel bad asking them to cover for one block while I go to the RE. I also have a chronic illness, so if I call in sick, they cannot ask questions because it is personal. They just have to give me the day off. HOWEVER, as a teacher, it's WAY more work to be gone than it is simply to go to work and suffer through the day..
Yes!! So annoying. Even if I am legitimately sick I have to drag my butt out of bed and quickly plan a lesson so the kids can stay on track while Im gone.

    And, yay for your students!!

Testing: Today. BFN. Ordered Wondfo tests that are arriving today so it'll be everyday until AF or BFP

R/R/CS: I have had the sads. Still do, really. Took a Bump break for a few days and now I feel like a newb all over again. *sigh* I would really like for my brain to be normal and to have normal reactions to things. The sadness makes me feel like AF is starting as it's typically part of my PMS. But on the other hand I know it's still a bit early to turn a test so...you're not out until AF says you're out I guess.

In positive news DH and I had a huge fight over the weekend which led to an amazingly productive conversation and some great resolutions. One really important takeaway was that I need to stop feeling like TTC is a burden to him or like he's doing me a favor by agreeing to TTC. The story is a bit deeper than that but suffice it to say it's been smoother between us since then, which is what counts. On the other hand, I told him this morning that I was bummed because I feel like we're out this month and he thinks it's still too early to invest so much emotion in it, especially if maybe my birth control is still working it's way out of my system. *shrug*

GTKY: It's very difficult to play hooky as a teacher but I do it whenever I feel like I need a mental health day. If more attention were paid to mental health, especially for people in service professions, then playing hooky wouldn't even be required. I either say I don't feel well and leave it at that or I say I have a migraine if I feel the need to make it more serious.

  • Hi everyone, long time lurker, first time poster. I'm trying not to eff it up but I might.

    Month/Cycle: 2/2

    Cd/DPO: 27/9

    Timing: -4, -3, -2, -1, O, +1

Testing: Not yet. Probably tomorrow since AF is due to wake me up in the night. I figure it will be less miserable to deal with a BFN, then her rather than waking up feeling like death, wondering why and realizing it's because I'm not KU.

R/R/CS: I don't sleep very well and it sucks extra now that I mix in temping. If I kind of wake up, I don't want to temp and ruin all chance of getting back to sleep (if the dog catches me, he's certain it's BREAKFAST TIME!!! aaahhhhh!) but at the same time I don't want to flop around awake and screw up the temps. Then I get to overthinking it all and I wake the rest of the way up.

GTKY: I am playing hooky today! What is your go to excuse when you want/need to skip work? Conversely, if you are a boss or teacher, what is the worst excuse you ever heard?
Um, I actually haven't ever played hooky from work. Even though it's not the kind of job where you need to get coverage. One time I was marginal sick and maybe could have gone but I didn't and did end up going to happy hour, though. I did used to have a coworker who would play hooky and his voicemail theatrics were legendary.

@Kiki75 I am the same with sleeping.  I generally wake up at least once throughout the night.  Depending on the time I'll take my temperature.  My alarm goes off at 5:10am so if I wake up at 4:30 like I did last night I take my temperature then.  I took it again when I woke up and they were that different (.02) so I used the average.  Other times I'll wake up around midnight or 1am and I'll go back to sleep and not take my temperature.  I'm not sure this is a fool proof method, but I can't be sure I'll have the three hours of sleep before my alarm goes off.  I try my best!

@Kiki75 I second all of this. In the beginning with temping, I found I was actually losing sleep because I was worried/thinking about what my temp was going to do. Now I don't think about it much at all, so hopefully the "overthinking" part will go away for you eventually. I do still tend to wake up or partially wake up at least once most nights, and I follow the same guidelines as @l9i when that happens. Oh, and welcome!
