Does anyone else have any issues finding clothes while in that between stage? Most stores dont carry maternity clothes and the maternity store that does has like 5 racks of clothes (and a market on the niche!). Where do I go?!
I get my stuff online mostly too. I've bought some clearance Pea in the Pod, Pink Blush (but holy inconsistent sizing, batman!), Old Navy, etc. Target's maternity section is pretty slim pickings, but they do have some decent staples. I think Motherhood has actual stores in a lot of cities, and I've found some cute jeans, leggings, and a few shirts and maxi dresses. Some of their shirts are super matronly though in my opinion, but they have some good stuff sprinkled in. If you're looking for a good comfy pair of leggings, I bought a pair online at Blanqi. Pricey, but better quality than I've bought elsewhere.
I like Loft's dresses and shirts for months and months of pregnancy. (Their non-maternity stuff.) I just ordered a couple of dresses from there that will take me through most if not all of the summer. (Look for "swing dresses" or maxi dresses with no waist. They will stretch with you.
I'm still trying to "pass" at work but looking pretty frumpy wearing oversized shirts. I have one pair of maternity pants each from Old Navy and Target that I really like, and just ordered a pair of black pants from Walmart online that (surprise!) are ridiculously poor quality (awkward fit, super thin pantyline-showing material) so that didn't help my trust issues with online clothes shopping. I need to find clothes in-store but it's kind of frustrating because the maternity sections are definitely smaller than they were when I used to help friends do their maternity closet makeovers. I'm excited I found out Loft also has maternity clothes because I like their non-maternity for work!
Try to find a Destination Maternity store. It will have both Motherhood and Pea in a Pod in it. The clothes are good quality and there's a ton to choose from. Plus you can try things on and get a feel for what works for you, making online shopping down the road a bit easier.
The struggle is real! I desperately need to transition my wardrobe but don't look pregnant yet. Just fat. I went to Target last night and the selection was crap. Basically only ugly jeans and see through tops. I tried Gap, since they are removing maternity from stores and did get a pair of jeans for $8, but they were pretty cleaned out already. I had to size up from my pre-pregnancy jeans size too; maybe Gap runs small but it was depressing. Then I tried Destination Maternity. The clothes were either made from horrid fabrics, were fugly, or were more expensive than I usually pay for non-maternity! Plus most things were very casual and I really need business formal wear. I did get one pair of pants that will fly at the office and a plan black dress that was on sale. My belly doesn't fill it out yet, but hoping to get lots of use from it this summer with cardigans and suit jackets. I've been scouring the Internet for used stuff too, and asking friends if I can borrow clothes as well.
I'm not trying to spend a ton of money on clothes that I will only wear for a short time. I bought maternity clothes at Goodwill and other thrift shops. They look basically brand new because they are only wore for a short time by the previous owner
I did really well online with Old Navy. And since I'm a size 14/16, I decided to go into the plus size section in JCPenny and get 2X & 3X tops and maxi skirts, so they are bigger and flowy and ended up being cheaper than buying a lot of maternity clothing. JCPenny always has good sales. I got quiet a few maxi dresses too off Amazon just in plus sizing for cheap too. And I'm loving the belly band. Works wonders.

I'm still in regular clothes but trying to hide at work so wearing my baggier stuff/"fat" pants. Luckily this is about the same time of year as my last pregnancy, so a lot of maternity clothes should hold, although I didn't buy a ton last time. I hate spending money on stuff I wont' wear that much.
That being said, I second the Ann Taylor Loft (both maternity and non-maternity). I also found cheap stuff on Target clearance (maternity), and even the secondhand site threadup.com.
Target's belly bands are useless, don't bother. I've heard good things about Bella Bands, though.
I got a ton of hand-me-downs from Old Navy, Gap, Motherhood Maternity, and a few others. I bought a pair of shorts and a pair of capris at Motherhood Maternity, a pair of jeans and cords and some shirts at the Gap, and some shirts on sale at Kohl's. I think I'm pretty much set, but I definitely need some undershirt type tank tops. Some of the shirts are pretty thin and you can see the pattern of my bra through them. I'm going to try Target for those.
Anybody have any advice for petite people? I am 5'1 and 100lbs pre-pregnancy. It's been 5-6 years since I was pregnant with DS and I honestly don't remember what I did. I remember having 1 pair of awesome jeans I wore all the time but they were hand-me-downs and the elastic waist got destroyed. I know I had some other stuff but we have moved since then and I can't find it anywhere. DH gave me the to ahead to buy new clothes, so that's the plan today!
@von1976 Oh I don't want anyone fooled that I am able to button my pants. I sit with them unbuttoned at my desk and pull my shirt down while I'm standing, HAH!
@LizaKate1213 Same here. I haven't had any luck with maternity clothes whatsoever so far. I ended up buy a bunch of regular shirts that were long/flowy hoping it'll last me a little while. As for pants I'm running into a big problem! Can't fit my jeans anymore and my yoga pants are starting to get tight too. I'm afraid if I try to go up a size in yoga pants they'll just end up being wayyyyy too long for me. I'm just keeping my fingers crossed it gets warm out really soon so that I can live in stretchy skirts and dresses!
I can commiserate with all you ladies! This in-between stage is so weird. I look so frumpy in regular work pants + top.... even when I wear the BellaBand with it. This morning I was just thinking that I looked weird.
While I like the bellaband, i find that it doesn't conceal the bumps brought about by the pants' zipper and button.... i don't like it. It works though. Functionally, it's great.... Aesthetically, I'm not that pleased.
I've been getting away with wearing dresses that aren't necessarily maternity.
@LizaKate1213 , ASOS has a maternity line for petite people! I bought a pair of maternity jeans there that I'm gonna start wearing soon. I also bought a dress. The quality is awesome.
@LGW2015, exactly my issue! I thought I was smart and bought a few LuLaRoe leggings in the next size up from my usual but they are still too baggy in my chicken legs. I hate buying jeans regularly because nothing ever fits, maternity clothes shopping is beyond frustrating. Buying online is such a gamble for me because chances are they will be too big regardless of how small it says they are. And sometimes the short lengths are just a tad too short while the regulars need 3" of hemming. Can't win! Thanks everyone for your advice, going to run out today to see if I can get an idea of fit at target, old navy and motherhood today. Shirts aren't as much of an issue thankfully.
I have purchased maternity clothes at Pea in the Pod, Asos, Topshop and Target. Mostly right now I am buying regular clothing that will grow with me. A lot of maxi dresses and flowy/stretchy fabric tops. I have found it pretty difficult to find maternity tops that I like. I purchased a belly band and leggings from BLANQI that I absolutely love. I bought two pairs of maternity pants that fit great from a Pea in the Pod. I kind of went crazy buying maternity clothes at first because I was just so excited to buy them!
Oh my goodness. I bought a pair of AG jeans at A Pea in the Pod today...nothing else fit at all. Even the Motherhood XS Petites were just too big. The AG's fit like a glove and even would fit without my little bump...I will wear them forever. The price was STEEP. I told DH he is off the hook for mother's day LOL
@LizaKate1213 I have the same problem. I found a pair of Old Navy jeans in a maternity size 1 (who knew they made such a thing), but last pregnancy I mostly dealt with slightly baggy pants when I had to wear pants. I lived in non-maternity dresses - stretchy dresses in my size and non-stretchy dresses one size up from my regular size. Maternity manufacturers don't make that many clothes in XS petite. Luckily, it'll be summer soon and dresses will be perfect.
@LizaKate1213 Dammit. I've been eyeballing those, but I keep telling myself I don't need them. However, you're like the fourth person who has said they fit amazingly... Maybe I will cave...
We have some great maternity/baby consignment stores in my area. Highly recommend those if you have them! I bought some essentials there and a couple of cute dresses on Pink Blush. I'm also using the Bella band with my fat pants, but maternity pants are 7,000 times more comfortable.
My general plan is to wear sundresses the entire pregnancy. (I live in the South so it's already warm and will stay warm until after baby comes)
@LizaKate1213You did the exact same thing as me! It has been so nice to at least have one pair of good fitting jeans. I don't generally wear jeans that often anyways. I still want a pair of white jeans for the summer, I'm hoping the petite maternity stuff at Loft works well. The annoying thing is that they seem to have a very small inventory and only have certain things in a few sizes and then run out.
@strickland8052 or anyone else... how did you find the sizing on pink blush, specifically the dresses? I have seen some adorable dresses on zulilly and one in particular that I want to buy next time its on there, but I'm scared of the no returns thing.
Well, it's official. I just wore yoga pants,a tank top, and a hoodie to work. I'm going to have to go out again and search for things that fit me lest today's apparel sets the tone for the rest of pregnancy. *sigh* I just found so very little that fit last time out. Stupid boobs.
I decided to bite the bullet and spent a good bit at motherhood last weekend. I bought a pair of jeans and a pair of work pants. Both are cute, comfy, seem to be good quality. I bought some tops on sale at old navy. I have been so much happier and more comfortable since I switched to maternity clothes and it has really helped me look more pregnant and less "just fat". I feel more confident. Totally worth it to me, pregnancy is hard enough as it is.
Does anyone know where to find decent quality workout clothes? Not so much tops, but non-yoga-pants pants or shorts and sports bras that can actually handle keeping everything in place.
Tell me about Bell Bands! I'm a TTM, and this baby is already causing my middle insane distress and I think it's time to get some kind of belly band. Any opinions?
I'm not sure how I feel about the belly bands, tbh. I'm not entirely comfortable running around the office with my pants undone, so I'm super self-conscious about how it sits. I don't have enough of a bump to fill it out, so it bunches up both when pulled up to the bra line and when folded over. Any tips or tricks on how to make these things work better?

@emmaaa Jealous. At 15 weeks, I'm 2 inches away from buttoning any of my regular pants. Even the hair tie trick won't work any longer.
@LizaKate1213 Motherhood Maternity carries petite sizes. Maybe try there?
