OK just got back from my CD6 follow up follicle scan out of the 8 follicles RE only sees 4 actually responding and growing. I am continuing 2 vials of Menopur for 4 more days and see RE again Tues for a follicle check. Bummed only half of follies we saw originally are growing hopefully all reach maturity for a better chance. All past 3 IUIs I only had 1-2 mature at trigger so just trying to be optimistic! Hope everyone enjoys the weekend!

@Starlight811 4 sounds really promising! You don't want too many otherwise you run the risk of getting the cycle cancelled. I almost had one of my cycle's cancelled for having 4. Sounds like we're on the same schedule...I go in for a follie check on Tuesday as well. I'll be checking in to see how your appt goes. Good luck!

Wishing everyone the best of luck with their April IUI's! I haven't been on here recently but just got AF after my 3rd Clomid/IUI cycle

I'm very discouraged because my RE wanted to begin injectibles this month but my insurance will not provide the medication in time. So I have to continue with another Clomid cycle which I have lost all hope with. Here's to hoping this month goes by fast and I can move onto injectibles!

Hi all I'm coming over from the March IUI board. Last month was my first medicated cycle and after a bunch of negative HPTs (my RE won't do a beta) I'm now convinced at 14dpo I'm headed towards another IUI. Just wish AF would come so I can move on...wishing all you ladies luck.

TW*** unexplained secondary infertility blows...make that any infertility royally sucks!!

@laur1212 So sorry to hear about AF. The first cycle is especially hard because there's so much hope going into it. I hope you're able to take care of yourself...drink some wine and eat all the chocolate. Hopefully next cycle will treat you kinder!

@stars2016 Ugh. That stinks. My pharmacy overnighted my meds...was that not an option with insurance? Good luck with the clomid this cycle...you never know what could happen!

Just curious if anyone else takes progesterone and estradiol? I'm still waiting on AF, my last dose of progesterone was Thurs morning and usually I would see spotting by now. However this was my first cycle with estradiol so I'm wondering if that could delay things further. No one told me to stop the estradiol, but now I'm worried maybe I was supposed to stop that with the progesterone...I emailed my nurse so will find out tomorrow for sure. Never wanted AF to show up so badly! :P

I'm curious, are injectables generally more effective than clomid? I'll be doing my second round of clomid this month, but my RE never mentioned injectables as an option. I'm wondering if I should bring that up as a possible next step if this cycle doesn't work out.

@meli123k i always take estrace before provera. Usually the estrace is 20 days then 10 days provera. Usually AF comes the 9th day on provera for me but it can take up to 7-10 days after you stop for AF to come.

Finally feeling back to normal after Friday's IUI

FX for everyone on deck for their IUIs this week!

Minor annoyance for the weekend - we always spend Thanksgiving with my FIL & SIL... yesterday they went and booked a cruise for that week without consulting us and just sent an email saying they hoped we could join too. I hope we CAN'T go, cause that would mean I'm pregnant! I did a quick calendar check and saw that if this month's IUI works, I'd be well past the 24 week deadline set by the cruise line. Then I did what I promised myself I wouldn't do... and calculated what my due date would be - 12/30.

Got a message back from the nurse this morning that I should have stopped the estradiol when I stopped the progesterone. Pretty frustrated right now because no one communicated that to me so that's been delaying AF

Of course I am trying to compare this cycle to the two previous IUI's... the last two I had soooo many symptoms but can't remember what dpo they started. LOL Hope to hear of some bfp's soon!

Hi Ladies - I had my u/s Friday and saw lots of tiny follices (and one cyst) but we're moving ahead. 5 days of Femara/Letrozole and then back for another u/s next Friday. We're then doing trigger whenever there's enough follies. This is our first IUI cycle so I am anxious, hopeful, nervous, etc.

@Monica54321 I had a similar experience with my HSG - hopefully it won't be as bad for IUI. eek!

Hi ladies!

I took a hiatus from this site and was hoping I wouldn't still see a lot of you here when I returned. I'm so sorry you have to be on this board again

Just got the call that last months IUI (#4) resulted in a BFN. I really thought this was it. We had 99 million sperm post wash and three follies. I really don't know what else I can possibly do to make the next cycle work. I've given up alcohol, coffee, strenuous exercise, and I started doing daily yoga and weekly acupuncture. I even did the pineapple core this round. I'm so frustrated. Now I'm just waiting on AF so I can get the next round started.

@madasm0530 I hope your first IUI goes well! I was very anxious before mine, but found that the anxiety beforehand was worse than the IUI itself. I know it's different for everyone, but I hope you have a good experience!

Hi Everyone wishing you all luck! My AF came today like clockwork. We have been married 5 1/2 years together 8 and trying for 9 months. I'm 28 and my husband is 31. I never thought we would have trouble. I ovulate well and have clockwork cycles. My husband and I both started Clomid last month. He has a very high count but testing showed at last ovulation sperm aren't making it to my cervix or beyond which was devastating to hear. My husband has low testosterone so our specialist says he most likely has low motility which Clomid is supposed to help. He said IUI is our best bet. Depending on my ovulation day we may not be able to try this month since we are out of town. I'm so nervous about this process and afraid of if not working since we are paying out of pocket and IVF is extremely expensive. How is everyone else feeling? GL to all!

@monica54321 My RE isn't making any changes. My bloodwork and DH's specimen are always great. And I respond well to the clomid - I usually have 1-3 follies. He said that switching to injectables would likely cause me to have too many follies, not to mention they are more expensive. So we just have to keep repeating the same process. If this next round doesn't work we still have to do one more round of IUI out-of-pocket before my insurance company will pay for an IVF round. I'm hoping the 5th time is the charm for me though

I posted on here not too long ago. I just got my day 3 results back. Everything looked great, except my AMH which was 9.5, kind of has me nervous. I finished my first round of Clomid, and it didn't go too terribly, which was great. Friday I go to my RE to have my US done. We have MFI, my DHs counts were 5 million with his last SA. So, if everything goes as planned, we may be doing our first IUI over the weekend, as long as his post wash counts are decent.

I was able to calm down and relax last night after a frustrating day (due to both work and my cycle). DH and I got sushi for dinner which somehow always seems to improve my mood

Today I am finally spotting! I've never been so ready to see AF lol.

@cpolmanteer829 Good luck! We have MFI as well and know how nerve racking it can be to wait for the count. However I try to tell myself it only takes one!

Went in for a follie check today…had 3 that were 16-17 but my estrogen was crazy high (almost 1000) so we’ll be triggering tonight with IUI Thursday morning. I’m hoping the injectables do the trick this month!

@starlight811 How did your appt go today?

@nursetmd85 Ugh, so sorry to see you back here. I completely understand your frustration…my last IUI, I cut out soda, was eating healthier, and did acupuncture and somehow had my worst response yet (and obviously a BFN). I thought injectables would make me overstim too (I was getting 3-4 follies on Clomid), but I was put on a low dose of Follistim and had about the same response. It’s supposed to make it a “stronger” ovulation so it might be worth looking into.

@kmom2be Don’t be nervous! It’ll all be worth it in the end. Good luck!

Came across this today and thought I would share. As you know I am currently in the TWW and the continuous waiting has been one of the worst things about this infertility journey for me.

Waiting for ovulation

Waiting for AF (or bfp!!) to arrive

Waiting to hear from nurse or drs

Waiting to see if SA has improved

Waiting on results

Waiting on next steps....

SO constant. However, none of this will matter once we all have our babies in our arms and the waiting will be ALL worth it!!

@Lin&say well went in for follie check CD10 after 7 days of Menopur and out of the 4 that were growing we are down to only 2 and they are not growing as fast as they should like they did on Clomid. Strangely i am on more aggressive injectables but i responded better to Clomid previous cycles

so another 3 nights of Menopur but now at 3 vials each and go back to check growth friday. Dissapointed that they aren't growing but its my first month of injectables and since i have DOR i guess its expected. Goodluck everyone this cycle!

Anyone planning do take FRERs prior to Beta? I wasn't going to, but I just gave in and ordered some on Amazon today. Sunday will be 5 days before my missed period, so I think I'll test then. Don't want to do my first test on a weekday right before work. I'd rather take the test and see a negative on Sunday, then be pleasantly surprised later in the week if it turns positive. 5 days prior to missed period has a 76% accuracy rate, so that's not too bad, I guess.

@Monica54321 My beta is in 6 days, at 14 dpo, but I usually have a 10 day LP and I have a ton of cheap hpts that came with my opks so I'll for sure test at 10 dpo (Thursday)

@Monica54321 At my RE's office we don't have beta for IUI... we are just supposed to test after 14 days or so, I usually wait to see if AF arrives before testing. Last time I did take a test (obv bfn) because I was a few days late. Be careful testing too early- I know for me seeing the negative is rough. Good luck!

Found out yesterday that we won't be having IUI #2 this month because my follies aren't big enough before we head out of town for 2 weeks. Bummer about the timing but we will be back at it next month. See you in May IUI.

@Lin&say- My pharmacy will over night the meds but my insurance takes 7-10 business days to approve the authorization for the medication. They also won't let my RE send out the paperwork to them until CD1 (which does not work well when everything is so time specific and needs to start early in the cycle). Luckily my doctor's office had a sample they gave me and I can just give them mine to replace it when I receive it.

@meli123k- My RE said with Clomid I have a 10-12% chance each month and with injectibles about 16-18%. For my insurance I needed to do 3 with clomid before moving to 3 with injectibles.

@Stars2016 - Now I'm curious if I have any such requirements on my insurance in terms of how many IUI cycles before moving on to IVF... I know I've got a 15k lifetime limit on 'transfer procedures' for infertility, but that's about it.

@Monica54321 Hi just wanted to add that I had a similar uncertainty of coverage all I knew from my Hr profile was iui+meds covered but supplemental insurance i had to call directly to them to find out i had ivf coverage was 80% but lifetime max of 30k including meds and nothing about specific meds required. They did tell me they would not approve coverage unless i tried 3 IUIs first regardless of clomid/injectables. So each policy is different but i would recommend calling them getting as much detail as to what is and isnt covered such as procedures related to ivf: icsi, assisted hatchig, freezing, frozen transfers even medications etc there is so much and i was able to make a better decision of continuing more iuis before ivf only because I have a PPO plan and have to pay out of pocket ($15k) first and then submit billing claims to insurance for reimbursement unlike my iuis the insurance is billed directly.
