Hi ladies~ Question here. I am now 34 weeks pregnant. There have recently been two occasions where I have had consistent Braxton Hicks contractions (or at least what I think are Braxton Hicks).
1) After intercourse I had pretty uncomfortable contractions for somewhere around 3 hours after...quite unpleasant, but nothing breathtaking.
2) This evening, after we got back from an all day birthing class. I laid down for a nap, felt soreness in my pelvis and a little in the pelvic region of my stomach (low uterus?) After that it has been a good 3 hours since I have been having the contractions.
Has anybody else experienced this? Talked to their doctors? The contractions after sex make more sense to me than the ones I am experiencing now.
I see my doctor in Monday so I will certainly pose the question, but I am super curious as to what other people have been through.
Re: 3+ Hours of Consistent Braxton Hicks??
Still though, definitely tell your doc- especially if they are painful or are rhythmic because you need to make sure they are not labor contractions.
Yes, you're supposed to call your doc if you're having more than 4/5 contractions in an hour. I know my body and I believe I have an irritable uterus and/or am just more sensitive to what's going on. I've definitely had more than 5 contractions in an hour, but I've been able to get them to stop. I would say that if you aren't able to stop them within 2/3 hours I would call.
If you are concerned, get checked out.
Been married since 2009.
Unicornuate Uterus (yes I menstruate glitter)
Several MCs
DD born 2013 (our miracle "you can't have babies" baby!)
Both day and night. They still are. I talked to my nurse today and she said as long as I'm not in pain with them, then they don't do much anymore. I have to go back if they become painful or I start leaking. Basically I'm a ticking time bomb ..
For my first baby, I started getting them consistently around 30 weeks. I ended up being put on magnesium and given two rounds of the steroid shots for babies lungs. They finally got them to quit two days later, but I was sent home on bed rest and on procardia until 36 weeks. She was born 3 days later.
For or my second child, I very rarely got any BH contractions and he waited to come until his due date.
This pregnancy is definitely similar to my first, I'm just further along this time and they aren't doing anything about them.
