@mariefox16 can I steal your FFFC?! I feel awful, and have been trying to do things around the house more since I've started to feel better. But like yesterday, I spent the morning making soup for lunch and once my belly was full I needed a 2 hour nap. Makes it difficult to do chores. DH has been so great but I know it's taking its toll on him
@rozANDbenSINCE2001 I am 100% right there with you. Every girl's name on our list is either a boy or unisex name. Also, all my top names, both girl and boy, are actually more commonly surnames than first names. Part of the reason we won't be telling anyone our name selection prior to baby being born, I don't care to hear all their opinions!
@mariefox16 and @LGW2015 I feel the same! I texted DH at work and hinted that I wasn't feeling too hot and maybe he could pick dinner up for me and then I casually added, "Do you have a taste for something I could make for you?" And he eagerly said, "Anything, babe." Yeah, we've pretty much been living off takeout for three weeks and I know he's more than sick of it.
@smmatt08 There is just something about it that I love! We actually are considering Ryan for a girl as well, but for now, we're going with Cameron. But I hear you! We didn't tell either side DD's name until it was basically too late for them to give their opinions. I can't wait to hear your name choices after your babe is here
@daisy19782011 Thank you! That actually makes me feel really great!
@rozANDbenSINCE2001 I grew up with a close group of girlfriends and one of them was named Austin and the other is Cameron. They were both the first people I ever met with those names, so I never thought twice about it. It was actually weird when we got a boy named Austin in my class one year, because for so long the only Austin I knew was a girl. And I love love love the name Olivia, so I think Cameron Olivia sounds cute!!
DH and I are also going to wait and not tell anyone the name until baby is born. We are going to tell the gender, but not the name. DH is British and we want to do a super British name, and I don't want any snide comments from relatives about how "weird" some of the names we're looking at are. So we'll just be keeping it between us until the birth.
Also, I guess my FFFC is that I've been having a Coke every single day lately.... they keep the headaches away!
@rozANDbenSINCE2001 , Cameron Olivia is beautiful, and I love Dylan Rose! Stepdaughter's name is Brodi, and i think her unisex name makes her sound so badass.
Thank you, @annabenanna! Love your SD's name as well! I get super excited when I meet girls with unusual/traditionally masculine names. DH's childhood friend's sib set: Colby, Kendall, and Griffin. Colby was the only boy. So cute.
@bamacoop Thank you so much!! We love Olivia, too, but really want a unisex name for her first name. Love Austin as well! I'm totally getting ahead of myself because I don't know baby's sex yet, but all this name talk is getting me so excited!
I have another confession. I told my nail lady that I'm further along than I am because I didn't want her to judge me for looking way more pregnant than I should for 12 weeks.

I just posted on my fb "sure could use a margarita". It was gorgeous weather today, FI and I had the day off, and I wanted so badly to find a patio and drink heavily all day with some live music. Wah
I'll probably get flamed to death by those who still smoke and think having a drink sometimes is okay, but that's alright, I'm sure I do things you don't agree with too.
I don't judge about much. Couldn't care if you have a CS, natural birth formula feed or BF.
But people who smoke and drink while pregnant are selfish. It's something worthwhile to give up when your growing your child.
I rest my case.

My confession: I happen to love boys/unisex names on girls and I know it's a super unpopular opinion on the BNB and I've been too chicken to post on our own name thread. DD is Dylan Rose and if we have another girl, she will be Cameron Olivia. I think it's a bit strange that so many people get mad about calling sex gender, but are quick to say giving a girl a boy's name is cruel. Either you believe in gender neutrality or you don't. I don't think having a masculine name will define my girls in any way other than the fact that they'll have cool, quirky names. Ashley, Kelly, Lauren, and Lindsey used to be considered male names too so I'm not too worried about my girl(s)-they'll be tough and confident.
Your names are awesome! I LOVE unisex names for girls. These are all on our top ten for a girl: Blake, Brett, Parker, and Rowan. I couldn't care less what anyone else thinks. DH and I like them; that's all that matters!
@CopperBoom86 Right?! I mean, everyone gets in a huge tizzy when people play the "gender" guessing game, but just about all he replies on the BNB about unisex/masculine names for girls are very negative.
I LOVE your choices! I was a huge Blake and Parker fan, but couldn't swing my husband because of two people he knows IRL with those names. You're totally right- at the end of the day, it's yours and your husband's choice!
@LGW2015 and @rozANDbenSINCE2001Good to know I'm not alone! I'm really hoping the 2nd trimester is as magical as most say it is simply so I can wash some dishes or vacuum without feeling like passing our or throwing up.
The complaint about masculine names on girls isn't about not respecting gender neutrality -- it's about disliking the implication that if you want to connote strength, something feminine won't work. That only masculine and unisex things can be tough.
But that's a matter for another thread. Anyway, I devoured Wendy's in my car in the parking garage yesterday (so dignified!) and when my sandwich fell on the floor, I said "No no no no no no no!" as though I was watching a plane crash. Then I had Steak & Shake for dinner. What good care I am taking of my body.
It is so nice to hear so many people feeling the same way I do. It is my first pregnancy and I am so tired, it takes everything just to finish the work day.
@duckmay See, that wasn't the vibe I read at all. I felt like a lot of the responses to unisex/masculine names were insinuating that it was cruel to baby girl because she would have to correct people her whole life or that she would be embarrassed by meeting boys with the same name. In response to what you said, I didn't choose Dylan for my daughter's name because I felt like Rose or Nora or any other feminine name would show her as weak or frail. I chose Dylan because when I've dreamt of my baby girl, that is just what I've always wanted to call her. I didn't see it as a strong, masculine name but rather a beautiful name that would suit our child.
I'm with you about the bad food. It's all I've been eating when I actually want to eat something. I'm hoping to balance it out in second tri when (if) I feel better.
1.) It's a Friday at 3PM PST time and the office has been super quiet. As a result, I've been online shopping and researching for the past 3 hours.... I bought $106.47 worth of baby clothes on zulily (my first purchase for baby!!!!!) This is your fault @AllyTheKid
2.) I'm set on the Nuna Tavo stroller.... Since we are traveling to Atlanta for Thanksgiving and then again to Asia for Christmas, I know we need a good travel stroller. But S.O. is such a guy about it. He's going to like measure everything and fight me on it and hee and haw for months before we buy it.... And I know it's early, but I SO WANT TO BUY IT NOW (because I got a bonus at work). I may or may not have asked my Dutch friend to email me a "Dear Anna, I hope you like your Dutch stroller that's coming in the mail as your late bday gift" so that if I DO end up ordering it, I'll be like "oh look S.O. we got a free stroller as a gift, how awesome!"
I should probably just stop internet-ing and go home. LOL
When people park right next to or over the lines, I park perfectly within mine even if I'm right next to their vehicle. Good luck getting in your car, loser!

I wouldn't smoke during pregnancy because I don't smoke cigs anyway, haha. If I was a smoker I would do everything I could to quit. I know one lady who smoked like crazy during her pregnancy. Her baby was born a month early and had terrible respiratory issues for a long time. An old friend of mine smoked weed during her entire pregnancy, heavily. She didn't tell me till she was almost 7 months. Who knows what her kid would have been like had she not smoked but he is behind developmentally. These are people who smoked HEAVILY. I'm not sure smoking one or two cigarettes during your pregnancy is going to cause too much damage. I just tried to wean off zoloft and felt like I was dying. Withdrawal is hard. I can understand why some might have a hard time with it. I couldn't deal with the symptoms of getting off the zoloft so I'm back on it.
Drinking regularly is not something I would do either. A glass of wine here or there most likely won't have any lasting effects. It's unethical to do trials on pregnant women. Many of the don'ts during pregnancy have more to do with lack of extensive research than anything. That doesn't mean you are going to damage your baby if you have even a single glass of wine or cigarette.
@Schell2013 Other than the people who admitted to having a few sips, which couldn't possibly do any harm and I myself had a sip of wine at a bridal shower this week... I don't think anyone here said they were actually drinking or smoking. I said I really needed one, not that I smoked one. I don't think anyone here condones doing anything that may harm their baby. But as the PP said, withdrawal is hard. Sometimes we have the urge and we don't want to fight it. That doesn't mean we're not fighting it. And even if we fail, once or twice is not going to harm the baby. I don't judge anyone who tries and fails, so long as they continue trying.
Last FFFC. I went shopping for maternity clothes today. I absolutely hated it. Pre prefnancy I was already a big girl. 5ft 2 in and 215 poinds. I have always been very uncomfortable with my weight. Now i am getting bigger EVERYWHERE and it really bothers me.. so for me to not fit in my jeans anymore, and have to buy maternity pants nearly put me in tears today.
@AshleyGemini24 I'm sorry you had an awful shopping experience! I also had a rough time with my first maternity shopping experience. About a month ago I spent a good hour in destination maternity and tried on like 15 pairs of pants and leggings (pants are the thing that stopped fitting first). I was so excited and optimistic for cute maternity stuff. But I'm only 5' tall and petite, and all of the pants looked totally ridiculous on me. It took A LOT of searching (online ended up being key) to find one pair of jeans and three pairs of yoga pants. I'm hoping to rely on dresses otherwise.
I'm definitely in that awkward stage of blump and it is very uncomfortable. I have a lot of clothes that would look super cute with an actual bump, but for now I have to wear baggy things, which makes me feel frumpy.
@kmolleltz and @MRSCORKER Funny you say that because when I go on date nights with my FI I miss having fun cocktails so I've been asking the bartender at the restaurant to make me a mock tail so I can feel fancy! A few of them have made some pretty tasty and pretty drinks and one was inspired to even put it on the menu permanently for anyone pregnant. Lol I think in summertime I will miss mojitos and my homemade sangrias especially!
@AshleyGemini24 I'm so sorry to hear you had a rough time, I hope you feel better today. This is the hardest stage of pregnancy for so many reasons, one being that we aren't quite fully "pregnant" looking and clothing is so difficult. I'm sure you will find things soon that make you feel beautiful!
@MRSCORKER you are my beverage twin! I've also been doing soda water with cranberry and lime! I think it's the fizz I'm craving, so juice doesn't cut it. Plus I put it in a fun glass so I feel like it's a cocktail. I recommend mixing in some "flavored" soda waters, too - Polar makes some fun flavors with zero to few calories! Changes it up a bit and so tasty!

Yes! I've been obsessed with La Croix and Deer Park sparkling black cherry. No sweeteners or artificial sweetner, bubbles and a touch of flavor.

@Blonde1817, what brand jeans did you get?? I'm also only 5'1 and very petite. I had one pair of maternity jeans that were hand-me-downs for my first pregnancy and the elastic waste got destroyed so I don't have them anymore. I wish I knew what brand and size they were
On the topic of bubblies- peach nectar and club soda is my go to at the moment. I go light on the peach because I like my drinks on the dry, not so sweet side. I can only handle so much fizz though, even when not pregnant.
I do miss my nightly wine. It was such a cozy part of my routine. So far nothing has been a good substitute. Lemon water =/= sav blanc, even when in a fancy glass.
@AshleyGemini24I know what you mean with feeling really unhappy with the body changes. I feel so gross. I don't typically like my body to begin with. Hang in there. I have been through this before. Soon enough we will start to get that obvious baby bump. Last pregnancy I tried to help my self esteem by getting some pretty underwear. That kinda backfired at first because it was REALLY hard to find something that felt flattering. I did end up finding a matching bra and underwear that made me feel beautiful. I talk to my husband about how I'm feeling when it comes to that stuff. He has always been a little overweight and is very sensitive about it. He compliments me often and reminds me how attracted he is to me no matter what size I am. I got pretty lucky. I think I once told him, even if you don't find me attractive at the moment just lie to me. haha. He very cleverly said, I will always love you and I will always be attracted to you. Smart guy
@LizaKate1213 I have the AG maternity super skinny ankle jean. They're super expensive, but I liked them so much when I tried them on that I stalked eBay until I found a pair in the right size I could bargain for. Also noticed that Loft has a petite maternity section, and I have a lot of regular clothes from there that are great. I found yoga pants at a Gap and old navy. So far all of my maternity clothes I got online.
I have a friend who I've been in constant, but silent, competition with for years. She got pregnant back in September. Well, yesterday, when we posted our announcement photo to Facebook, I went back to see how many likes they got on their announcement photo and was secretly hoping to beat them. After 24 hours, the final tally is 408 to 368... we win!
Ridiculously petty and pathetic, I know. But after months of her telling me what worked for them and what we should try (they got pregnant on their first cycle trying), it feels good to best her at something, even if it is something as trivial as likes on social media.
408 likes?!! I think you have way more friends than us. We posted our announcement on Wednesday and got 140 likes. DH and I were like "woooo we went viral!!"
Haha, I don't even have that many friends. Something about being pregnant makes me lose tolerance for people on fb. It never fails, every pregnancy I just start unfriending everybody that gets on my nerves. I haven't started yet but I have a running list in my mind.
