What is the first thing you are going to eat after your little bundle is born that you couldn't eat during your pregnancy? Feel free to include beverage!!
I am going to Water Grill and ordering the largest oyster tower they have with a bottle of rose all to myself!! Ok maybe I'll share with hubby .. Maybe
And then the omakase at Nobu with a jalapeño margarita the next day.
Sushi or oysters sound amazing! Although I'll probably just make DH run out to the deli and get me a cold cut sandwich... I miss them so much! Oh and wine! When we go out to dinner for the first time I will definitely be getting a margarita. It just doesn't seem right to go through an entire summer without one.
A deli sandwich! I want DH to just bring it to the hospital. Never thought I would miss deli meat so much. I'm also looking forward to a glass of pink champagne and having a really good beer.
A big glass of Cabernet and a medium rare tenderloin. Make that two glasses of wine.

I've been making DH eat all the sushi in the world I can't be having right now.
As soon as I deliver, he is to bring me a fking sushi platter even if I deliver in the middle of the night. He's going to get them earlier during the day, we have all of this figured out in our heads.
Instead of flowers, I'll accept plates after plates of sushi.
A bottle of wine all to myself, maybe with a platter of gourmet cured meats (like salami, prosciutto, iberico ham, etc) with some cheeses and olives. I know I can have cheese and olives now but let's be real, it's the wine that ties this all together.
My actual first meal will be whatever I get at the hospital. DS was born so late that it meant I got a huge turkey sandwich because that, and a few sides, were all they bring in a box at 2am. This time, it depends on what time it is.
I'm not withholding anything while pregnant except alcohol. I don't like sushi and still eat lunch meat.
Wow y'all are being super strict with yourselves! You know it's okay to have sushi, right? As long as it's prepared by an experienced chef at a clean restaurant (obviously gas station sushi doesn't cut it). Look it up - the risks are super low. And think about all of the pregnant women in Japan and other pacific rim countries who essentially live on fish, sushi or otherwise - obviously they manage to have babies just fine!
Anyway, I'm looking forward to a giant Margarita also! Or maybe a whole bottle of champagne...
I had sushi today. I eat it about once a week or two weeks. I've read a couple articles about it and feel comfortable eating it every once in awhile. I've also had a few deli sandwiches here and there. I didn't drink alcohol a lot before I got pregnant so not much has changed for me I guess.
@JLyn821 I am right there with you on not withholding anything but alcohol. I eat lunch meat just not as much as I used to. I also do not like sushi so that isn't a big deal for me. I have a pepsi a day and limit my caffeine instead of cutting it out completely. I try to eat more fruits and veggies and be somewhat healthier but I don't deprive myself either.
A bottle of my hubby's homemade chardonnay followed by a bud light lime. Haha! I don't even drink that much, but I cannot wait to enjoy these beverages!
Man, y'all are being strict with yourselves. I've been eating deli sandwiches (not heated up in a micro) the entire pregnancy. My OB said as long as it came from a reputable deli it wasn't that big of a deal. I've also ate raw sushi once or twice and had half a glass of wine once a month or so. The one thing I haven't had that I've been craving is vodka... just vodka.
I've been eating deli meat, I heat it up before I put it on my sandwich (but sometimes I forget). I also ate Jimmy John's during my first pregnancy. American Pregnancy basically says it's a very low risk but (like alcohol) it's better to be safe than sorry. https://americanpregnancy.org/is-it-safe/deli-meats/
Also, the concern is listeria and the CDC's list of outbreaks for the last five years don't have anything to do with deli meat. https://www.cdc.gov/listeria/outbreaks/
Edited to add: I can't wait for a G&T with lots of lime, outside. Then a glass of white wine, also outside on the balcony off our master bedroom or our front porch watching the sunset. Finally, when I can start stocking my house with red wine again, life will be good.
@Bookhousegirl@tmk0325@jacmkelley The concern with Ceasar salad is that the dressing might contain raw egg. Tradiationally, ceasar dressing is made that way. However, if you start asking at restaurants you'll find that it's usually not the case any more. Either they buy their dressings or just don't make it that way because of the risk. And pretty much any jarred/bottled dressing is fine, so you can make ceasars at home! I had one restaurant tell me that their dressing had raw egg, and it was a pretty fancy/high end place where everything was made from scratch. And even in that case, I had forgotten to ask about it until after I ate the salad -- and I never got sick and it was fine.
I have been terrible this pregnancy and the only thing I've really avoided is alcohol. I don't like drinking right away because of frequent nursing (I know its supposed to be ok...) So I probably won't indulge in alcohol until the baby is around 6 months anyway. I guess I should head over to FFFC to admit all the things I eat...
I would say sushi but I'm going to have to wait to eat that in one of my favorite restaurants. My dad is already on alert that his main job is to go to the amazing deli near the hospital and get me an everything bagel with lox and whitefish salad. i have been pretty strict this pregnancy but honestly it's not really bothering me. i'm sure i could be more lenient but I'm such a worrywart so it's just not worth it to stress myself out.
The only thing I don't eat while pregnant is raw sushi, but I don't really eat that when I'm not pregnant anyway, so it's really not a big deal. The only other thing I abstain from is alcohol....so maybe that in some form? But even so, I didn't drink while I was BF DD, even though I know you can, I just chose not to because I don't know my limits and I didn't want to pump and dump lol. Otherwise, I still eat it all....deli meat, hot dogs, bacon, medium rare steak, over easy eggs, soft cheeses, dressings, unpasteurized ciders, you name it I still eat it! Actually, I think I'm gonna run out and get myself an Italian sub for lunch right now :-)
Raw sushi (last time I sent my mom to get some before they closed and had it at 2 in the morning after DD was born), although it might be lox on a bagel with cream cheese (also something my mom brought to the hospital for me the next day for breakfast with DD). I've also been craving a Margarita lately.
Re: GTKY- What will be your first post-pregnancy meal that you couldn't have while pregnant?
And then the omakase at Nobu with a jalapeño margarita the next day.

Seriously Ill have wine and a giant Cesar salad. I miss both.
Why aren't you having a ceasar salad now??
