Ok, so the thing about the uppababy vista is it's what some of my friends call a stroller and a half.  The rumble seat only has a weight limit of 35lbs (unlike the city select where both seats have a weight limit of 50lbs).  Especially if you're having twins I wouldn't recommend it.  For twins there's this mountain buggy that everyone talks about that's a bit like a donkey without the crazy price tag.

For the gliders, the only thing I recommend is getting one that is comfortable and supports your neck/head.  I ended up getting a Dutalier and it was amazing.

Here is the glider we have in DD's room. I LOVE this thing. It is still so plush and comfy, even after three years of heavy use. https://www.walmart.com/ip/Enchanted-Cherish-Glider/19717776

ETA: The rest of my comment-

We still have a lot of the baby gear from DD, who will be 3 next month.

I have to check the expiration date on our Britax infant seat, but hopefully that will still be good to use.

We need a double stroller. I'm leaning toward a sit-and-stand, and I think the Joovy Caboose Ultralight is my top pick right now.

I tried baby wearing with DD, but I hate the carrier we have (Pikkolo). I want to try again with this babe. Maybe an Ergo? Not sure yet.

We also need a new rock-n-play (this thing was a lifesaver!)

  • We are waiting until we know the gender (or at least I'm trying very hard to wait until then) - I'm basically in love with everything from Pottery Barn Kids - there's an amazing crib I saw online. My mom thinks it's 10x too expensive but DH knows I'm a shopaholic. First baby :)
  • For those that are looking for a double stroller on a budget, I got the Graco fast action fold double a year ago and love it. It's very easy to fold and unfold and I've had no trouble fitting through doors (occasionally I have to slip off the cup holders but it's easy to do). I was gifted the duo glider and I find the fast action much easier to maneuver and fold. Plus my kids are close in age and like sitting next to each other. It's also nice that each seat has its own canopy.

  • Here's the thing:

I would love to list out everything I want but I feel like it's a moot point. MIL is overbearing when it comes to buying stuff for us in general and DH swears up and down that we don't have to worry about buying a damn thing for our baby because his parents will take care of it all. I mean, I appreciate that and everything but I don't want to rely/depend on them and I would feel bad too, they don't need to spend their retirement on us when we can easily buy everything ourselves. Money is not at all an issue in our household (which I'm very grateful for). MIL is just very generous and likes to shop, too, so she would be happy buying most baby items for us.

I know it's going to inevitably happen no matter how much I ask her not to so I'm thinking maybe I *should* give her a list of the items I'm interested in? I mean, if she is going to buy stuff no matter what I say, it may as well be the items that *I* want, as long as they're reasonably priced? DH says that we should definitely do that and that's how she always does birthday and Christmas gifts in their fam. If she is given specifics she sticks with it.

    Thoughts? Is that rude?

  • @therealvdayit totally depends on the family but that's exactly what a baby registry is for a little bit down the road. I wouldn't consider having one rude. In my family, we appreciate those kind of things and tend to shop from them exclusively. In DH's family, they feel like they should know each other well enough to pick awesome presents for each other. It umm...usually doesn't work out, but I remind myself that it's the thought that counts.

Thanks for being honest and bringing this up. I'm not in the exact same boat, but I have a MIL (who I adore) that will want to purchase lots of things for our LO, and the nursery. Like you, we don't have any issues purchasing these items for ourselves/our LO, but she's pretty insistent. I think I'll be able to give her early access to a registry at some point and let her go from there. Or that's my hope anyways.

As far as clothing and "cute baby stuff" goes, I'm not sure I'll like what she chooses on her own, but I'll be thankful regardless. I mean as long as I dress the baby in those things a few times, no harm and she's happy, right?!

  • @shevacc - good point... I honestly hadn't even thought about it that way. I guess I'll get cracking on my registry early :p

@lilwonder - see, you know exactly what I'm talking about! Haha. I adore my MIL too, she is the sweetest lady ever. Just need to steer her in the right direction and all will be fine. Certainly I'll be thankful for anything I get, regardless of whether I like or not or who it's from. Also I feel like once I actually have this baby I am going to be so tired/frazzled and not really care at that point about what items I receive lol.

  • So, does anyone have a Bugaboo (cameleon)? I'm curious to know if you feel like you really loved it as much as you *thought* you would when you purchased it.

After talking to DH, I think we're just going to get whichever single stroller we like the best, regardless if it can convert into a double or not. If and when we have a second baby, we'll go down that double road.

So now I'm back to the Bugaboo Cameleon 3 with the Nuna Pipa as the front runner.

  • For anyone lusting after an Ergo carrier (I a few some posts in here and on last Friday's thread), they're on Zulily today with a big chunk knocked off the price tag!

Good to know! I lust after it a lot less now...I'm excited to be a bit further along and go test drive all the things at buy buy baby!

  • This being our 4th in 5 years, we have almost everything (if it's Another boy, he's getting like new onesies.)  I do really like the idea owlet monitor, and I may be tempted to splurge on that. I might also look into a double umbrella stroller for next summer, but I don't know if I want something so wide.

We love our Phil & Ted's, I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a stroller. I wish we would have gotten it with the first rather than investing in a pricy and bulky travel system.

  • Zulily also has the Phil & Ted's Vibe stroller & second seat on sale today for $479. It's under the "Welcome baby- your go-to gear" section.
  • @mrs_hoyahooA word on bassinets. Although incredibly useful for nighttime feedings, you will only use it until the baby is a few months old. Id get a swing for downstairs or a rock and play.

Thanks! You're probably right about the swing for downstairs. I just want to avoid the rock and play - I'm convinced that it's part of the reason it took my soon so long to transition to the crib. I just want something flat and still for this kid to learn to sleep on :)

    @lilwonder - that is a beautiful glider!
Not sure if this was mentioned already or not but what about a pack and play for downstairs, you can even get one with a bassinet insert.
