Introduction- New Here, but not to TB (Losses Mentioned)

edited April 2016 in Infertility
Good morning! I am sticking my toe in the water over here since I am beginning my first medicated, TI cycle today.

I have been active primarily on the MC/Loss and TTCAL boards, but have lurked here occasionally trying to learn more about what I may expect as we pursue these new therapies and levels of intervention. I am sorry to "meet" you all here, but appreciate this community being available to those of us who need it.

Short story: I have had five losses in the first tri; DH and I have no living children. We began seeing an RE who specializes in RPL last December. Dx with DOR and issues with blood flow/inflammation.

For the last two cycles I have been taking a low-dose steroid and Trental (circulation/blood flow) in addition to Vitamin E, Ultra Cal Night, and my PNV. The plan is to dose me with 75mg Menopur today and tomorrow (CD 9 and 10) and then I will have an U/S on Thursday (CD11) where Doc will assess my follicle(s) and will give us the red or green light to use a trigger shot of Novarel and DTD. We will use this approach (perhaps modified) for up to three cycles, if needed. If we don't get the green light to actually try the medicated TI, then our next step would likely be donor egg IVF.

I am intimidated, frustrated, and sometimes saddened by the process, but am trying to keep a brave face and be optimistic that we have a new plan and an amazing, compassionate, expert who is invested in our outcome.

I've learned a lot from y'all, just from lurking. Finally ready to participate. If ever I can be a support or share info with anyone, I am happy to!

  • @em01092 Thank you. I appreciate the warm welcome. Are you currently in the TWW? (And, Go Dawgs! ;))

@dragonfaerie Thank you. FX that your first round of IVF is your last! I like the analogy of a golden ticket! I am going to use that....

@LizzieJ13 Thank you. I will have my fingers crossed for your BFP! How long into the TWW are you? Can you test early, or does the Ovidrel turn a test? I just learned that my trigger shot can turn one, so I am actually relieved that I can (should) not test early.

  • @fivetimesnoluck, I'm 3dpo, assuming I ovulated on Saturday morning after my Thursday evening trigger. I tested Friday to make sure I did the trigger right (Got a positive, so it's in there, but I'm always paranoid!) and will probably start to test it out beginning on Saturday. I know I can't wait until 14dpo to test, so I want to be sure the trigger is out of my system before I get excited about a BFP. If you're the same, I would recommend testing out the trigger.

@fivetimesnoluck welcome to the neighborhood. I am so sorry to hear about your losses. Hopefully TI gives you the boost you need. :) best of luck!!!

i started testing out my trigger last cycle and am so glad I did. It was great to see the positive test even if it was fake and gave me more confidence that when I did POAS it was accurate.
  • Thank you @srh18. I had never thought about testing out the shot. That's a great idea!

@LizzieJ13 I hear ya on the paranoid. I saw the shot prepared and go in, but I am still kind of wondering if we did it right. Newbie problems. Off to buy some cheapie HPTs. :)

@fivetimesnoluck boooo! That's my hubby's team! Haha I'm a Southern fan. We are a house divided. lol =P

Yes, I am in the 2WW! Waiting until Saturday to test though to give AF a little more time to make an appearance. Technically I suppose I could test now as I'm approximately 17 dpo, but I'm thinking I'm just late from the fertility meds.

  • @em01092 Haha! What's funny is that I actually have a degree from GSU, but still root for UGA. I was raised a UGA fan and went to a small school for undergrad that doesn't even have a football team. A few years later, when I got my master's from GSU, I was a commuter student and never really attached to the school. I love college football, so I will watch and cheer on the Eagles, but my loyalty remains with UGA. :D

FX that your delayed AF is due to a BFP!

Oh cool! What's your masters in? I got my BA from Southern in history in 2011 and have a postbacc certificate from Emory in paralegal studies. Well glad to know you have our back, aside from the one time every few years we play UGA! Haha BTW - that was an awesome game this past year when we played each other! Did you see any of it? I can't remember if it was televised, but hubby and I were there in Athens! Y'all beat us in overtime! One of the best games I've ever attended, even though Southern lost. And you better believe we were smack in the middle of red, but I was still screaming go blue! Haha everyone was very nice to me though.

And thank you for the FX! :)

    @em01092It's an MPA, public administration.

And yes, I absolutely remember last year's game! To be in Athens had to have been so exciting! I love Athens. We watched with some big GSU fans, so it was fun for us to have it go into OT.

I went to a couple of UGA/GT games in Atlanta when I was in college and sat in the GT student section with friends. It was so much fun to talk smack the whole time!

Keep me posted on your test!
