Hot Tub?

I went on spring break & let my legs sit in the hotel hot tub for long periods of time everyday. I only would put my whole body in for a few seconds then would go directly in the pool just in case... I was 29 weeks pregnant , today i am 30... could damage been done ?

  • I had to get permission from my doctor for a prenatal massage and I'll be 29 weeks for the my spa day. The doc and spa said I was fine to have my legs in the whirlpool but not my whole body. I don't know anything about dipping your entire body but Based off what I was told your legs would've been fine.

Lol at all of the tots!

Op, there is a general rule that my OB gave me that your pregnant self can hang out in up to 100 degree water. Any higher and could could risk going into labor. Ask your OB, but it sounds like you're ok.

  • But my OB said the same as sweetmamajune's OB. 100 degree hot tub is fine. You don't want your core temp to go above 102. It's more important in the first trimester, so at 29 weeks you are fine.

  • Are you still feeling regular movement?

I think you should bring it up with your ob if you're worried. I've heard that you shouldn't raise your core temperature too much, but I'm not sure of the consequences. I think raising your core temperature may be linked to spina bifida in the first trimester (I read that online somewhere; not sure on the reliability of that statement).
  • Babies can't regulate their own body temp, as I'm sure you know. I too soaked my legs in a hot tub but during the first or second tri, (forget which.) I'd be more worried about dipping the whole for a few seconds but I SERIOUSLY DOUBT that a few seconds would be enough to change your body temp, let alone your baby's, especially if you then got into cold water. My sufficiently inexpert take is that you're totally fine, especially if you're having no other signs of a problem (bleeding, cramping.)

I know just how you feel. I had been using vodka instead of water to rinse out my mouth every night after brushing my teeth, and then I was like, "Wait, is this a good idea? I could call my doctor if I'm really worried, but instead I'd better ask some strangers on the Internet."
Just so you know, a vodka rinse is ok if it's potato vodka.
I'm drinking some oj right now, if I put potato vodka in it that'd be ok right? Probably be good for me and the little guy, might even help me pass my glucose test later.
