Is the infant insert necessary with the Ergo?

Did you need the infant insert?  They don't come with it, so should I buy it, or will my little guy be okay without it?

    you will definitely need it if you plan to use it right away. It supports their little head in there and keeps them a little swaddled. Otherwise I don't think it would be safe. We used the insert for about 2+ months.

    BTW we LOVE our ergo!! :)?

    i don't have the infant insert. at first i wrapped him in a blanket and put him in (like you would with the insert). now he 'sits' in the ergo in the fetal position and does fine.  i bought it at jillians drawers in ithaca and the woman there told me that that was how she did it.  either way i think you're fine.
