We watched "Inside Out" last night, and DD loved it. I liked it, too, and did cry.
We went shopping yesterday and DD and I got a bunch of new clothes (and the baby got a sleeper ). DH got nothing, and I feel kind of bad about it. But seeing as he isn't growing or growing a human, his need for clothes are pretty low.
@MojieJo Just catching up on the thread, sorry if it's been said already, but your crib looks like it would probably change into a full size bed, not a twin? That's what ours does. My friend has a mini crib and hers turns into a twin.
@SarahMConnors- Our little dude still naps/sleeps in his pack'n'play any time we're out of town with him, he could definitely still fit in there nightly if that's what we had chosen to use (he's coming up on 16 months and is in the 90th% for height). So really, if you're not sure on a crib and are going to need a p'n'p anyways for hotel/family visits, it could get you through longer than you're thinking!
I mean, it's definitely smaller than his crib.. but he can stretch right out in it with no problem - although he usually sleeps in ball anyways!
@SarahMConnors My son will be 2 in a few weeks and we have used his pack n play as recently as right before New Years and he still fit just fine. He's also consistently been in the 95% for height since he was about 6 months old. I'd think going that route would be ok and then transitioning to a toddler bed if that's what you prefer over a crib. But mini cribs are also a great option (albeit, I'm pretty sure they're smaller than a PNP?)
I am so so happy to have today off. We ended up getting a storm overnight and it continues to sleet outside. Random April storm, but it is the FIRST snow day of the year for us... I'll take it!! After today, though, spring needs to start!!!
Today's the day!! We've got our anatomy scan at 3:30. The kiddos are coming with us and they can't wait. We had to explain to them that we probably won't find out the sex(es) but they decided that they're cool with that. They're just hoping to see the babies moving around. Thank goodness I've got a presentation to work on today. Otherwise I don't know how I'd be able to concentrate on anything! It's iffy even with the presentation!
@UnwritteN12- apologies for not remembering who's team what.. Are you going to find out the sexes if possible? Also, (I can't remember anything today) can't remember if you're on the East coast, but I hope you are!! 3:30 isn't TOO far away!!!! We are just over 2 weeks out from the anatomy scan and I am already finding the need to keep myself busy.

Guys, this baby is doing somersaults in there as of yesterday. Also, I just had coffee - Weee! It's a belly circus over here. Still not feeling anything on the outside, but I don't mind keeping all of these wiggle/rolls to myself for another couple weeks The BEST

Feeling movement is my absolute favorite part of pregnancy. Over the last few days I've become more confident that what I'm feeling is baby. My husband is still anxiously awaiting the day when he feels movement. It's kind of cute to see him frustrated, lol.

@AnnaS930 - LoL - you're good. It's hard to keep track! We're not planning on finding out. But DH has the understanding that, with ultrasounds every couple of weeks, the chances of accidently finding out are greatly increased. We're central time.
Love the fact that you're feeling all those summersaults!
I think I'm feeling some movement. I felt some pokes a couple isolated times in the same spot the nurse found one of the heartbeats at my last appointment. I can't wait to feel it all the time!
@UnwritteN12 Yay for the anatomy scan! Let us know how it goes, and good luck concentrating today!
@AnnaS930 Ever since my OB couldn't tell the sex at my 16 week appt, I'm dying to know. Probably 3 times a day, I look at a calendar and count the weeks and days. The next three weeks are going to go by so slow if I keep doing this.
Feeling movement is the best! I'm still where I can't rule out gas as what I'm feeling. If it was more consistent or lasting longer, I'd be more sure. DH almost never felt DD move, even when I was at the point that you could see it. She'd always stop as soon as he touched my belly. We joked he had the calming touch and would be able to put her to sleep easily. She did seem to sleep easier for him in the early days.
I'm DEFINITELY feeling baby now, before I was really unsure, but now I'm positive. As a FTM this is so cool and weird for me. My guy is super anxious to feel the baby on the outside but I'm sure it's not going to be for a while.
I was feeling this little one most when relaxed and laying down on my side.. now it happens in just about any position I'm in throughout the day. Sometimes when I'm driving I feel him which reminds me of my son. Last pregnancy he would do wild acrobatics on my drives home - I think because I play my music and sing really loudly (and they can hear our voices so early on). We always joked that he was trying to find the escape hatch to get away from my singing voice
I'm a week out from the lab getting my bloodwork and fully anticipate they'll call this week with the results so I have a sex reveal party tentatively planned for Saturday. Hopefully they come through!
@SarahMConnors I just wanted to say, I LOVE our mini crib. Right now our 11 month old is sleeping in it. I think my two year old could still fit in it if we tried.

We have a mini crib and a pack n play. They're about the same size. The mini crib might be a tiny bit narrower, but they use the same size sheets.
I love feeling baby move too! I'm a FTM but started feeling undeniable movement every few days at 14 weeks. About a week ago, I felt baby moving all day and loved it. Right now, I feel her every now and then (sometimes a few times a day, sometimes not for a few days) and tell DH and he gets excited but he hasn't been as excited about it. When I asked him why he got sad and told me it was because he can't feel her yet and it broke my heart! I can't wait until I feel her all the time and DH can feel her from the outside.
One thing that I love about my mini crib is that the mattress comes up very high, so it's just a few inches from the top. It's perfect for a brand new baby. It's the right height to reach over from my bed and easily get the baby out, so I can feed her during the night without getting out of bed. It's also nice to not have to bend over to lay her down.
Is it crazy to think that a nursery could double as a guest room? We don't get overnight guests often, but we'd really to have a room that DH's family can use when they come visit. This might be twice a year. If we have a room set aside just for guests, we start getting to a larger house than we want. For our family right now we need at least 3 bedrooms. (master, 1 for older girls, nursery/room for 11 month old)
@LeahKnits one of my best friends used her nursery as a guest room and it looked great! She had the room decorated as a nursery with all the baby's furniture and a full sized trundle daybed on the opposite wall. It was really cute and they slept there whenever baby was sick. It could totally work! She and her husband had baby in their room for the first few months and whenever they had guests so it worked out.
@LeahKnits I think that would work. Maybe set up the guest bed to look more like a couch when you're not using it for that? I don't think they make large-size day beds, but a bed against the wall could be made up to have the pillows along one side for lounging. We often use our office as a guest room with a super tall air mattress. The mattress even has a built in "headboard"! Not the most upscale option, but no one has ever complained about the comfort. We use the mattress ourselves when camping, and it's pretty nice.
@UnwritteN12 my appointment is tomorrow at 3pm! We definitely want to find out. Work is pretty much a no go this week. So far I have done exactly zero things since I got here today, good thing its really really really slow around here

TTC #2 since January 2018
Baby #1 DD Born 8/25/2016 BFP: 8/11/18 Due: 4/26/18
@Jabreen and @AlwaysAuntNeverMom I did find a couple full size daybeds in a quick search online. I like this idea! Then with a trundle bed, there'd be room for whomever wanted to stay with us. And I could sleep there when the baby is sick, so we don't wake up DH so much during the night.
I've thought I've felt movement a couple times but have no idea. I'm feeling a little baby overwhelmed right now. We seriously started talking names and I don't like any, my current eh thoughts are Emerson (boy) and Hayden (girl). We went a few open houses and target to look at baby stuff. If we move I would want sooo many more things and some different, we won't know if we will buy until June. I really like having things planned well in advance and this is stressing me out. We could stay and rent for one more year, I just would do the to and from to a daycare which has a lot of issues with it.
@LeahKnits- right now our guest room has a double bed (moving it to our finished basement (play room) for guests, and a futon. I am strongly considering leaving the futon in the nursery... it's a huge room and would be nice to keep a second space for guests to stay if necessary - plus a nice play to relax when baby isn't in the room and/or sleep in there if this baby is super fussy and tends to wake our son in the room next door. I think it makes total sense to let the room have two purposes.. could move baby to your room/other kids room when guests come over using a pnp.
I'm super jealous of all the mom's feeling baby kicks and somersaults! I'm here at 16w4d and being all "I want to feel movement!!!!" :-( I know it'll come soon, but still jealous (and very excited for) all you lucky mommas who get to feel something already.
@LakeR2014- I'm super jealous of all those who know baby's sex.. even though I know we eventually all will I keep thinking 'WHY NOT ME?!' 2.5 more weeks until the anatomy scan, 2.5 more weeks.
I think I just made a coworker/friend feel awkward. We were talking about breastfeeding and I said something like "Yeah, I haven't decided if I'll breastfeed this one or not" and she was all shocked and said "WHY!?" and I simply replied "Because I didn't like it last time, and liked everything about motherhood significantly more when I stopped." And offered nothing else.
Background - Her children are 20+ years old and she has been a surrogate 3 times in the recent years, last time delivering in August. She is still pumping and sending milk to that family (she's really amazing). But.. I think that pumping 4 times a day, while really challenging, is not comparable to doing the same while personally feeding/taking care of that baby and perhaps she isn't thinking of that part of it? Pumping comes really easy to her, she brags of producing nearly 100ounces every day, which is great for her but not true for everyone.
Anyways, she accepted my reasoning and just kind of laughed it off, but I felt a little hurt. No way would I suggest to her that what she does is easy because she's a surrogate.. she's made huge sacrifices to help a family become complete, and now provides sustenance to that baby, and wakes during the night to do so. It's just really apples and oranges. Any we're 2 different people so I shouldn't have had to even give her a reason as to why I will/will not do ANYTHING with my kid, right?
@AnnaS930 Yup. No need to give a reason. It was rude of her to ask, but sometimes in those circumstances I always wonder if it's type of a knee-jerk reaction. 'You don't? Why?' Not saying it's right to ask, just saying try not to take offense.
Props to your coworker though to be a surrogate and then to also continue post-birth with pumping milk. Talk about going above an beyond the call of duty there. But like you said, it's fantastic that she's doing all of that and carried a baby for some couple who couldn't. But pumping her 100 ounces out a day does NOT compare to taking care of said child for 24 hours a day.
@AnnaS930 I probably would've had the same initial reaction without thinking. Right, it's not anyone's place to ask but kind of like, well, you did it before so why not do it again?
@LakeR2014thank you! And I completely agree, her reaction to my response was much more pleasant than the demanding "why" so perhaps she really was just curious and not judgy.
And on this similar topic, I would love to be a surrogate someday, I really do love being pregnant. Not sure it will ever come to be.. but it's in the back of my mind.
Today is the first day back from spring break for me and my students, but I planned ahead, so all we're doing is watching the end of The Martian all day. I may have had to get up early, but work consists of Matt Damon "science-ing the shit" out of things, webcomics, and The Bump. Added bonus: tomorrow the 10th graders have a major standardized test, so I won't see my kids (11s and 12s). They will be home doing a virtual assignment, so I have a whole day to plan and prep!
