Head rush anyone?

Sorry if someone has already asked this.
I get a head rush literally every time I stand up, whether I was sitting or laying down. I lose all vision almost every time so i have to lean against a wall or something so i dont lose my balance until I get my vision back. I try to take my time when getting up but it doesn't seem to help much. My m/s (ALL DAY) has been preventing me from eating and drinking proper amounts of everything, so could this possibly cause the head rushes? I know it can be common during pregnancy but I never had this issue so often with my first.
Anyone else experiencing this too?

Oh and I am currently 8w6d.

Re: Head rush anyone?

  • I just talked to my OB about this at my appt this week. Because blood is going to baby, light-headedness is common (especially if you typically have low blood pressure or a history of fainting.)  Be sure to get up slowly and be careful.

  • Definitely talk to your doc. may simply be the extra blood in your body or you could be dehydrated from your m/s. try to drink more if you can

  • Dehydration can definitely cause this. Try to get liquids any way you can. Popsicles have been a lifesaver for me this pregnancy.

  • I'm definitely afraid that ive gotten too dehydrated. I went from drinking 85oz a day to maybe 30 if I'm lucky. I drink ginger ale and milk too but obviously those dont replace water. Popsicles are a good idea!
  • Easiest way to know if you're dehydrated is to check the color of your urine.

  • I get dizzy standing up when pregnant. My blood pressure during pregnancies is on the low side. As PP said, check your pee color, but also pay attention to your blood pressure at your appointment.

This happened to me at yoga the other day. I think I'm dehydrated but who knew it would be such a struggle to drink water? This is crazy.
  • I agree with PP, there is a ridiculous amount of extra blood in your body when you're pregnant. You can Google the papers yourself, but this link says it too. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/4075604

A little under 50% MORE in your body. This contributes to that light headed feeling. Go slow getting out of the shower. It should balance out a bit and you will get more accustomed to it. If @KilgraveMadeMeDoIt will oblige, she'll Science it better than I.  <3
  • My first appointment is tomorrow so I will definitely bring this up to her. Thanks for the tips!
  • Drink plenty of water and get up slowly.  It happens to me. Hope you feel better soon!

  • OK this thread made me feel better. Just posted about my dizziness in the symptoms thread. Mine started last night. Just turning from one side to the other in bed made me incredibly dizzy.
  • Said this on an earlier post but respect the dizziness! I was taken away in an ambulance 3 weeks ago. Lol. I'd never had vertigo and i freaked out! Lasted for a couple weeks and I have a few serious spells, but it's gone for now and has been replaced by migraines...fun
  • @Justpeachier13 sorry you felt bad enough to have to go to the hospital! I hope the migraines leave you alone and you get a break from pregnancy discomfort for awhile.
