so my son is going on 9 months and still not even attempting to crawl. I know we shouldn't compare to other babies but I can't help it ! The most annoying part is when my sister starts telling me, "Oh. my kid was already standing around this time." ok your point is? ugh. anyways is anybody else facing a similar situation?
Re: late bloomers
So glad to see a thread on this. My little guy will be 9 months on saturday. No where near crawling, let alone standing. He just started sitting on his own at around 8 1/2 months. My sister's baby is 6 months and the kid sits already. But you know, I think my sister has learned a lot from me and has applied techniques so I think she catching up on what I've done with my LO. Everyone says that the second child tends to do things faster, maybe because we learned from the first one....this isn't always the case though.

Im so glad this thread exists! I hate comparing milestones and I'm so ashamed I do it... Need. To. Stop.
Baby milestones seem like beauty standards - everyone is kind of held to the same standard (crawling, standing), but there are lots of types of development happening that are not related to those things (being verbal, comprehending language, social interactions, and overall cuteness and unique personality).
It's so hard not to compare! Whether it's my waistline or my baby's development. But man oh man, I'm happier when I don't.
2nd round exp 8/20/18.
My suggestion is keep it basic.
We're not crawling over here either. He can push himself forward on his belly really well to get what he wants and he rolls like a champ but he'll get up on all fours for a little bit and then fall forward. He only has his bottom two teeth (no sign of top yet) and he sits well on his own most of the time. Everyone says that the second one does things faster because they're watching their older sibling doing things but so far that isn't true for me. I know it's very hard to not compare your baby to other babies especially for milestones but it really is better for your sanity if you try to stay away from it! Just enjoy your baby as they are now because they grow up so fast!
At our 9 mos checkup this week, the Ped asked if LO was moving from laying down to sitting. I thought about it and realized that no, he doesn't do that... he goes from laying down to crawling or from laying down to knees to standing. He'll sit up if we put him in that position, but he has no interest of his own in sitting, just standing as much as possible.
Does that one require them to suck to get the liquid out? We've tried 3 different sippy cups and they all require sucking which LO just doesn't get. I'm looking for one that'll just pour into his mouth.
According to my mother, I learned to walk with my toes curled under. I can still walk like that to this day with zero pain (when I show it to people they are horrified. guess my toes are just really flexible because of it!)
Just my .02 .. I think it's cool to hear there are non-crawlers who are speaking or giving kisses when my early crawler isnt really working on those things. There's no race. These babies will all get there.
I remind myself of this all the time and not just about babies. As a STM, I can say there is no point in comparing. DS slowly crawled around 9-10 months. LO was at that pace at 6 months. But he is slightly ahead of most 3 yo milestones and significantly ahead in vocabulary and reasoning. Just enjoy them every day. In no time, you will have a 3 year old with attitude, jumping off furniture and insisting you call him by his pirate name.
Love the quote from @Sammy K so very true! It's all going so fast anyways! It didn't feel like too long ago when everyone was sharing pictures of their nurseries and now we're nearing a year!! Eep

LO turned 10 months on the 4th and refuses solid foods. He will eat purées alllllllll day. But the second you throw texture in, the bro is gagging and spitting up. I mean, what the heck.
The schedules I've read for weaning are all over the place, there's plenty of time for them to catch up! (at least I keep telling myself, because it's definitely hard not to compare!)
