What Prenatal Do You Take While TTC

Re: What Prenatal Do You Take While TTC

  • @kiwielopingbride  Yeah, I can never get the search bar to search only this board and I always get searches from all boards even though I have this one selected. It makes it much harder to find previous posts from here. For example, I just tried searching for a thread like this one (I know we had one a few months ago) but there are way too many to sift through.
Yup that's exactly what happens to me.  Very frustrating!  I wonder if it's a browser thing?  I use Chrome?
I use Safari and it happens to me every time. I have never gotten it work right. :(
The default search will look through every Bump community forum to find the words you entered. After that initial search, you should be able to click the search bar (has a little arrow pointing down on the right side) and more features will come up. You'll be able to search a specific board and even a time frame.

  • @TheJerilu I am going to have to find a friend with a Costco membership! Lol. I have a BJs membership but I think the price is slightly higher. I honestly can't remember. I only buy my girls vitamins there.
Groupon tends to run deals on them every few months - I think like $20 or $25 for an annual membership.  Worth keeping an eye out for, especially since it unlocks a lot of their stuff to purchase online!

  • I also take the Nature Made + DHA prenatals. I have to take them before bed though because they upset my stomach. At first I was all excited because I thought I was having morning sickness. Lol I was a crazy symptom spotter for a little while. They went on sale at Meijer one time, I think buy one get one free, so I bought like 6. They're going to last me a long time!
  • I wish I could just take one prenatal and be done. My body doesn't absorb vitamins properly, so I have to take all my vitamins separately because they are SUPER high prescription doses. So I take Iron, Vitamin D, Vitamin C, Folate, Potassium, a B complex, Calcium... I can't even remember all of them. But I have to take them allll separately so I take a million pills.

Gross. I explicitly take the one I do for high dosages and one gel capsule. Although I'm sure dosages are still well under having to take them individually. I'm sorry. That sucks.

Thanks! You just changed my life. It is sort of dumb that when you "search boards" you can just pick which one right away. But, still very helpful. I am going to go look up so much stuff now.

  • I use to take Vitafusion Gummies but after one bottle, I did not like the taste anymore. I now take Organic Rainbow Light. Capsules are easy to swallow, but it sucks that you have to take 4 per day.
  • I also take the Nature Made prenatal vitamins with DHA. They're reasonably priced and they seem to have the essential nutrients. I was taking the Viatfusion gummies, but they don't contain as much DHA as I would like. They do taste good though!

I like Belly Bar chewables. I took some of the Sprouts (the grocery store) vegetarian prenatal pills, but I kept getting stomach aches. Nothing terrible, but I thought that the nausea thing only happened when pregnant women took pills that don't agree with them. I've since learned that some are hard on the tummy even when not pregnant.

I avoid any gummies or anything with fish oil, since I'm a vegetarian. So far, Belly Bars are my favorite, but I'm open to suggestions if you have any good vegetarian vitamins to recommend.

Rainbow Light Organic vitamins are Vegetarian, Dairy-free, Gluten-free. They don't make me feel sick either.
  • Whatever is on sale.

For those of you having search function issues, all one needs to do is switch the tab that reads "ALL." Scroll through and the option for Trying To Get Pregnant will show up. Boom, results only from here.

As for prenatals while TTC, I also take the VitaPearl prescription.
  • @nwegman7878 there is a rebate on the vitapearl website.

  • @Nursemarie9 I'll look for those prenatals. Do you buy them at a drug store or online?

I get it directly from VitaPearl with the rebate. With just insurance its $200 a month because it's considered a tier 4.

I don't use the rebate and my co-pay is $45/month. We also have high co-pays.
  • I take garden of life raw prenatal with a DHA supplement just for fun :) I ALWAYS had a sensitive stomach for multi vitamins, but these don't bother me in the least!

I got mine from Amazon,  much cheaper than at the store.

@antoto Ok, will do. Like previousely mentioned, I wasnt looking for a new one, or looking to see what is out there. I was more curious as to what is most common among the ladies here.
Oh I see!  Sorry, so used to seeing the same posts over and over and over I definitely didn't read close enough - my bad!

After checking out the link I just sent you I switched to Garden of Life's Vitamin Code Raw Prenatal.  Most prenatals are totally fine, but I figured If I have a few extra bucks I might as well get one of the top rated ones.  Sometimes it's hard for me to remember to take it 3 times a day, but I hear your body absorbs the vitamins better that way.
I take these as well. They're also one of the few prenatals with folate instead of folic acid, and seem to be the lowest price of those top rated brands.

  • The Vitafusion gummy is the way to go. Pink lemonade flavor, no mineral after taste, very gentle on the stomach and contains DHA. I have had guy friends taste them and love them not knowing they were a prenatal.
