Officially - I love the GoT books! When I first started the first one I didn't think I would be able to keep everyone straight but then I was sucked in.

Unofficially- I tried to watch Breaking Bad because everyone raves about it but I turned it off midway through the first episode. Also, I hate Fight Club and Pulp Fiction.
I didn't like the first few episodes of Breaking Bad...I have a rule that I'll give up after 3 episodes and still don't like it. I was hooked after that. Can't tell you how many times I had to restart the first one though!
  • My official unpopular opinion is that I absolutely HATE "Peppa Pig"
Yes, they have charming British accents. But this does nothing to disguise their obnoxious oinking and sloven and obese lifestyles. And yes, they are pigs they are supposed to oink and be fat.
But do I really want my son impersonating them? Nope.
So unless they suddenly have an episode where the father dies of heart disease and the children develop diabetes, so they are forced to discuss healthy eating habits - I want nothing to do with Peppa pig.

Also, their heads look like penises.
Hahahahahahaha! I do love those accents, though. I worked with a kiddo who used to pronounce "tomato soup," "tomAHto soup" as a direct result of this show and it was freaking adorable. But yeah. I get it.

  • @mrsallikat my MIL just joined the Snapchat train and all she posts is selfies using the terrifying Snapchat filters. H and I usually wait until we're home together to watch her "story" because they make us bust up laughing.

I do like Snapchat, though. For the most part it's seemed to keep a lot of stupid shit out of my Facebook/Instagram feeds. Although my story is usually pictures of my dog being a lazy POS.

My official opinion is that I hate selfies (aside from our Hump Day Bump Days!) I cannot stand scrolling through FB and instagram and seeing you making duck faces or other ridiculous contorted poses to make yourself look skinny and attractive through whatever million filters/photoshops you use.. no one believes you "#wokeuplikethis" unless someone sneaks in and puts cat-eye eyeliner on you in the middle of the night! I just think that selfies scream "self involved"...
YAAAAASSSSSSS! I have a teenage kid and this was a very frequent point of discussion in our house. Social media accounts are important to them, I get it. By no means do I think this is right, but I was into shit my parents didn't understand either, so whatever. BUT I have always stressed the importance of at least keeping it interesting and realistic. For the most part, she is making me proud.

  • @MrsAlliKat agreed! I can't do Snapchat, Twitter, Instagram, any of that. I have FB but even that I just scroll through out of boredom. So many of the social networking just seems so attention seeking. Look at me. LOOK AT ME DAMNIT! And when people post links to their other social networking from other social networking. If I wanted to see your Instagram picture I would follow you on there. Quit posting links to it on your fb feed.
  • I love the GoT books! I didn't read them though, I listened to them on my iPhone. Maybe that made a difference?

Kids should never ever be sent to school sick. I sent DS1 to preschool one day and he was fine. I got at call at 11 asking me to come get him and I felt so guilty that he may have gotten another child sick. How can you send your obviously very sick kid to school?

Socia media sites like snap chat that are designed with teens in mind make me so nervous. There's not enough parent regulation and kids/teens are stupid with what they put on the Internet.

  • My MIL told me last night (after she came to "see my belly", not me though) that she can't wait to buy a talking Elmo doll for the baby because another baby she saw was so cute with the doll. Because she didn't understand what it was and it was so cute that the dolls said "I love you" and "help me up off the floor". I  practically gagged. Didn't they decide the voice of Elmo guy was a pedophile? And do people really want talk toys? And as much as I do like muppets, I never liked Elmo. Creepy and annoying.

We have a few different talking Elmo toys. They're annoying. Most kids are scared of them until they're older a little older. We leave ours in  off mode most of the time. I loved Elmo as a kid, but prefer my pal Scout toy for my kids.

  • @laurenm2123 im with you on the iced coffee! I can't do hot coffee even though I've tried every which way possible lol.

As far as snap chat goes, I use it 99% of the time to send random photos and videos of my cat to friends.... The last 1% is usually stupid stuff like what I'm cooking, or dresses I'm making or the weird people you see around town lol. I don't do selfies. Ever. Except HDBD.

My UO is I don't like coconut water. I just don't. I've tried it sweetened, I've tried the flavored ones, even fresh from a coconut too... I can't get into it. Unless you put it in a smoothie, but otherwise, gimme plain ice water.

All the Muppets are terrible! Those eyes... I'm legit scared of them.
  • My UO is that skim milk should be the only milk. Not 2%, not 1%, not whole, not almond, not soy. Skim.
  • My uo may be more unpopular in the south than in the north, idk, but I do not understand the obsession with Yeti coolers. I have so many girl friends who have been given a yeti cooler as a gift and they think that's the best thing ever. Unless you're about to go fishing and need to keep your fish cold for a day or two, you just waisted a few hundred dollars.

Totally agree! They are so expensive and I don't get the appeal.  The mugs/tumblers are really popular here too.  Do you really need a $40 tumbler to keep a drink cold?  How long does it take you to drink 20 oz that makes that purchase necessary?

We only just moved up to a queen sized bed last year. Until that we had been using a double bed for our entire 10 years of marriage.

We purposely keep our queen size because it keeps my kid out of my bed at night because there isn't enough room. (maybe that is more of a FFFC)

    --facking trapped--

Southern lady here, and I don't know what the fack a yeti cooler is. But, if it's just a cooler that costs a few (what?!) hundred $, or a $40 tumbler, that's about the dumbest thing I've heard all day.
  • @emztron500 HAHA! That made me laugh really hard.
  • @amberliz99 us too! We've lived together for about 3 years now and only have a double bed.

I guess my UO is that I really don't mind. As a plus, it'll defer me from giving in and bed sharing with LO which is something I really don't want to do but could see myself giving into out of convenience.
