April IUI

Hey ladies... April is almost here so I thought I would start a thread for those of us doing an IUI in April.

My husband and I took March off from treatments/meds and sadly AF arrived yesterday so we are ready for our 3rd and final IUI in April. If this one doesn't work then we will be moving on to IVF in May.

Wishing you all the best of luck and I hope April brings us all our BFP's!!

Me: 28, DH: 30 Married July 2014  DX: Severe MFI- 3 failed IUI's, IVF #1 Egg retrieval June 4th 2016, 5 day transfer- BFP Baby Boy! EDD 2/25/2017. Our sweet miracle Carter Bennett arrived 2/12/2017 6 lbs, 2 oz 19 inches. <3 Surprise BFP!!! Baby Girl due 10/1/2018.

Re: April IUI

  • Hi, first post on this board. I have unexplained abnormal bleeding which means that despite ovulating and having perfect, regular cycles I bleed from O until AF every cycle, and there is no apparent cause. My DH has low morph. My March IUI didn't work, so my next IUI (#2) will be in April. I'm just waiting on the callback from my RE to see if she wants to increase my Clomid or progesterone this cycle, since I still had light bleeding from O to AF with 50mg clomid and twice daily progesterone.

    Good luck to everyone.

  • @LadyMillil- I am so sorry, that sounds awful. :(. I hope your RE can help you figure out what causes the bleeding. FX that #2 will be successful for you!

  • My husband and I have our Initial Consultation at a fertility clinic a few hours from our house on April 4th.  I'm hoping to jump right in and start an IUI shortly after.  He's got an extremely low sperm count -- is there a minimum count pre-wash that doctors require before doing IUI?
  • Can I join in? I just spoke with my RE and got the green light for our first IUI during my April cycle. My DH has a low count but with good motility. I was slightly discouraged by the success rates with his count, but am planning on staying optimistic. :)

Hi everyone! I'll be having my first iui this month after about a year of trying on our own and then four cycles of TI. @byrneme looks like we are on the same cycle roughly-my iui should be the week of 4/4 too!! I had my baseline bloodwork and ultrasound today and everything looked good, so I'll be starting clomid tomorrow. Good luck to everyone!
  • @LittleSap92014My husband has low count as well. The first SA (back in October) showed only 2 million. Our RE said they like the count to be at least 5 million (post wash) to do the IUI. He got a second one showing 4.5 million and we were given the go-ahead to try IUI (they still advised that IVF is our best option). First IUI his count was over 20 million (pre wash)! Unfortunately it didn't work that time though.

@byrnemeSorry about AF :(- it was so devastating when AF arrived this month even though we were on a treatment break.

Looks like a lot of us will be in the TWW the same time! I have my ultrasound on 4/4. For those of you doing your first IUI- I know I was nervous for my first time, so I am sure you are the same. It is not bad at all- doesn't even hurt and I was shopping directly after. I hope it goes well for you all! :)

  • Hi All - I am thinking that April will be our month for our first IUI (though could be May). Back Story: We have had a mix of TTC and NTNP for 4 years. During this time we've had 1 MC and 5 medicated cycles.

We're at a new RE and have some prelim issues worked out; prolactin and thyroid. DHs SA was perfect. Started provera yesterday and will finish out the 10 days, wait for AF and get started.

I am thrilled that I found the Infertility board. My previous time on the Bump I only ever frequented the TTGP board. GL to all! :)

  • I started Clomid yesterday. My monitoring ultrasound is next Friday so IUI will likely be the week of 4/4.

This is my second IUI. I was really nervous for my first one. They let DH come into the room and he held my hand. It was a similar feeling to a pap but with a little cramping when they put the sperm in. They actually asked DH if he wanted to push the plunger to release the sperm but he said no. I had a little cramping for the rest of the day and some bleeding, which is uncommon.

YAY! I'm joining! I got my period today, so I have to go in either tomorrow or Tuesday for my first ultrasound. The plan is IUI+Clomid+HCG trigger shot. If all goes well, April 12th or so will be my first IUI. Good luck ladies! Please report back how it goes! I'm most nervous about the medications, but excited about this possibly being THE month. Fingers crossed.

I just took my last Clomid (round 2) this morning. Headaches are common on Clomid so it's a good idea to have some Tylenol handy. I had bad headaches on my first cycle but I've been taking Tylenol every morning this cycle and it has helped. I had abdominal discomfort/bloating up until O last time. Most days I could not wait to get home from work and change out of my jeans.
  • Hi all, I'm moving over from the March IUI thread, received the BFN call today. The nurse said if I stop my progesterone pills today AF should arrive in 2-3 days and then I'll get things started for my next round. Clomid or injectables, tbd.
  • Hi everyone - my fist IUI (w/ovidrel trigger) is coming up end of this week/early next week. Just finished clomid 50mg CD 5-7 yesterday (didn't feel ANY side effects - I wonder if it worked at all). going for ultrasound this Friday. Tried to conceive naturally for over a year and nothing...tests didn't show anything
  • Hey ladies, I'm jumping on here, I've been out of touch for a few months. I just finished my 6th and final round of Clomid. This will be my 3rd iui and the final one my doctor will do. I have my follie check on Wednesday and am praying we can trigger and move to iui on Friday.
Im struggling  with only having 1 tube  :'( it's been a tough road but I'm praying this is the one. So hopefully I will be joking you ladies for the tww!
    Good luck ladies.  :*

  • Hey ladies, how is everyone doing? I go in Monday (4/4) for my ultrasound- praying I don't miss O because I am going in a day or two later then my last two IUI's. (I will do OPK's just in case!) I strangely feel more calm then I have for any of my past IUI's even though this is essentially our last chance before heading to IVF and that is nerve racking for me.

  • Hey everyone! I am scheduled to start my very 1st IUI in mid-April. This is after 4 months of Femara + TI + one round of Ovidrel.  Thanks for starting this thread; I am sure it will be helpful, especially since I don't really know what to expect. I'm not planning to get the trigger shot this cycle, but monitor my O date with Clear Blue test sticks...per recommendation of my RE. I am a little nervous about that because I am not very confident in the *strength* of my ovulation and my ability to produce those helpful smiley faces. But we'll see. Best wishes to everyone here.

  • Hi everyone! I've been lurking this board for awhile and posted once in last month's thread. It was my first month of treatment with Clomid and IUI after seeing our doctor since November. I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism, which we had to monitor to get in check prior to starting our fertility treatment, which obviously didn't work this month so I am here. Hoping round two works this month. Good luck to everyone!

Hi ladies! Instead of waiting to finance all of IVF upfront we are going ahead with a 4th IUI in April. Got BFN from #3 today so just waiting on AF to arrive (im 28 with DOR and DH no issues) Baseline will be early next week most likely. I've done 3 IUIs on Clomid+HCG the last one we added progesterone suppositories (yuck!) so this time RE says we will take an aggressive approach and use injectables instead. GL this month ladies!!
