Re: Symptom Check-In 3/28

  • Progress (week/day): 5 weeks 1 day

    Symptoms: gassy, tired, slightly moody

Rants/Raves/Questions: How do you react when someone asks you "when are you having another one" or "when are you going to have a baby" knowing you are already pregnant but not wanting to announce it yet? This has happened to me a few times over the last week and half and I feel bad lying but it's still so early we don't want to tell anyone yet. I also don't have the best poker face so I feel like people can read my reaction when they ask and I have to try and come up with a response on the fly.

  • Progress (week/day): 6 weeks 6 days

Symptoms: Morning sickness that lasts until 3pm and starts again right before bed. I'm staying home from work today to try some different things to hopefully get it under a bit of control. I can't be running to the restroom to puke 3-4 times at work like I can when I'm home.

Rants/Raves/Questions: I am thankful to have morning sickness and other symptoms, but this vomiting part is kicking my butt. I feel like I am on a ship that is constantly swaying.

@squish143 we've just been saying "it's in the plans" or "it's down the road". People close to us know we've been trying, so it's been hard to not tell, but we were waiting to tell our families first.

  • Progress (week/day): 6

    Symptoms: fatigue, nausea, bloating, emotional

Rants/Raves/Questions: all my symptoms went away early last week but this weekend they came back. My nausea isn't to terrible yet but my guess is it will only get worse. I am very thankful to have the reassurance though.

@squish143 I am terrible at lying so I am no help. I avoided a Pure Romance party on Saturday evening because there was going to be drinking and I didn't want to lie.

  • Progress (week/day): 8 weeks exactly.

Symptoms: all the same symptoms I've been having, but the last day or two my nausea and indegestion has been worse.  Yesterday and today it's really bad.  About 15 minutes ago I finally spilled the beans to my boss and told her I was pregnant.  I asked to leave early today because of the nausea. She gave me a hug, congratulated me, and said "absolutely! Go home and rest!"  whew!

    Rants/Raves/Questions:
I'm just ready to lay down and hope this nausea goes away.

Symptoms: Bloating - WHy?!?! Boobs are sore and my allergies are acting up bc of all the pollen out and tired

Rants/Raves/Questions:  Had my blood work done over a week in half ago to confirm the pregnancy and still have to wait till April 7th for my first appt. Seems so far away still. I feel like I want to pee on a test everyday for confirmation LOL.  Boobs are sore and I am getting more tired.  Trying to exercise to keep the weight down and stay energized, work full time and have a almost 2 year old (May 5).

@squish143 we haven't told anyone yet (some ppl bc of the situations) but no family nothing we are trying to wait till May 14 for my daughters bday party to announce since everyone will be there.  So far my parents have been asking when is our second one coming after my daughter was about 1 1/2 years old.  So my normal comment is "it will happen when it happens or Maybe one day."  My parents are going to flip out this will be there 11 grandchild so they will be estatic. =) Just keep them guessing is what we say.

    Progress (week/day): 8+4

Symptoms: sore boobs, back acne, craving sweet foods, aversions to leftovers, pregnancy gas, fatigue, nausea off and on but no puking. I still haven't had anymore spotting or back aches which I'm super happy about. No pinching on my left side anymore either! Occasional cramping, but light and doesn't last long at all and might also just be gas pains. I really only notice it if I've been laying for a while and then stand up.
ETA: THE BLOAT! How could I forget the bloat? It is so awful, I feel so freaking huge.

Rants/Raves/Questions: Just want to get to the point where my heart doppler detects something. We thought we found it the other day but then decided it was probably just my heartbeat.

@squish143 I haven't had that happen yet but when someone does eventually ask "when are you going to start having kids?" I'll probably say something like "Oh, sometime down the road!"
When I was TTC and people would ask I'd say "Who knows, DH and I are enjoying our time just the two of us right now" and they wouldn't ask any further questions, they'd say "that's great, enjoy that time!"

@squish143 It's almost like they already know! We don't want to lie either, but I also want to keep this one between me and DH for as long as possible. I've had this happen more than a few times since we found out (just last week), but usually they ask something vague enough that I can answer just as vaguely. So, to "When are you having another one?" I say something like, "Oh, we're thinking we'd like to have another one soon."  I just leave out "within the next 9 months"

  • Progress (week/day): 7 weeks

Symptoms: bloating, cramping, fatigue, sore breasts

Rants/Raves/Questions: Anyone with young kids who seem to know something's up? My DD (almost 2) is clinging to me for dear life. She's always been a bit attached to me, but lately it's like she can't let me out of her sight.

  • Progress(week/day): 5 weeks 4 days

Symptoms: boobs hurt, cramping, slight fatigue but I haven't been sleeping well so it could just be from that, minor heartburn sometimes

Rants/Raves/Questions: I feel like I want to hibernate until the 1st trimester is over.  I'm not ready to hear all of the opinions from my inlaws and I especially want to protect this little bean with everything I have until we're "in the clear."  I've blown off family like 3 or 4 times in the last week simply because I don't feel like seeing anyone if I can't talk about it.  I realize how selfish that sounds but it's how I feel right now.  Anyone else?

  • Progress: 8 weeks, give or take a couple days

Symptoms: (1) Nausea has returned full-force. I have to vomit every morning around 10 am, and I then feel waves of nausea throughout the afternoon, usually as a result of standing or walking for any extended period of time. (I have to sit on my bed to blow-dry my hair now!) (2) Sore-ish boobs--just enough to be noticeable, but thankfully not as painful as what it sounds like many of you are dealing with! (3) Fatigue hit me like a sack of bricks at the end of last week. Sleep no longer feels like something that makes me feel better once I wake up; to the contrary, I pretty much only feel okay when I'm sleeping (or at least laying down). I truly believe I could stay in bed all day. (4) Food aversions and crazy dreams are as strong as ever. (5) Last week's cramps and heartburn seem to have eased up. No complaints in that respect!

R/R/Q: I've seen people write about dealing with morning sickness at work or about missing work, but does anyone have advice about staying energized and focused? I feel like my brain just can't handle any task that requires strategic or analytical thinking, which is kind of a problem, since I work in an academic setting. How do you keep up your A-game without excessive caffeine when you could fall asleep standing up any moment? I hope to tell my supervisor about my pregnancy after my first appt/ultrasound next Tuesday, so hopefully I'll get some grace then, but at the moment I just feel like I'm letting him down!
  • @peachykeen17 it's so frustratingly easy to find your own pulse with those, especially early on!  To help differentiate pulses, either you or your SO can feel your pulse just inside your wrist at the same time to see if it's the same.  Your pulse should be MUCH lower than baby's.  You should be able to find it soon, but try not to get discouraged if it's hard to find it for awhile longer!

    Progress (week/day):  5+6

Symptoms:  Boobs hurt, needing more sleep, so much hunger.  ***TMI*** I started having subtle light pink-tinged CM this morning which has progressed to pretty obvious brown tinged CM.  I'm desperately wanting to blame this on sex or BMs or taking progesterone late this morning, and praying it stops and everything is OK.

Rants/Raves/Questions:  ^^This JUST as I finished writing and addressing/stamping our announcements for our families and close friends to send out this week.  Sigh, I kindof feel like I need to hold off on sending them now.

  • @virginiaham thanks for the advice, we didn't think to have him feel my pulse on my wrist at the same time, that would have taken out the guess work! FX that your spotting stops soon. I had it from week 5 to 7 and know how frustrating/anxiety-producing it can be. Hang in there!

7wks3days and the culprits are pregnancy rage, vertigo/dizziness, throwing up in my mouth when I burp--so gross!!!, sore boobs, hungry all the time, and tired.

Uh oh. Weong username.  Changed it on the knot but doesn't look like it worked??? How do I fix that?
  • Progress (week/day): 5 + 1

Symptoms: nausea, sore boobs, gas, bloating.  I've also managed to catch a couple of bitchy moments before they got out of hand.

Rants/Raves/Questions: the nausea and vomiting seem to be kicking it up a notch the last couple days, including today being the first day with multiple incidents of puking (just two... induced by dishwasher smells).  I'm hoping it doesn't continue to amp up!

  • Progress (week/day): 8+3

Symptoms: bloating and major gas! Fatigue, nausea, acne and sore boobs.

Rants/Raves/Questions: I got a little upset today because my Drs office called to tell me they got back my lab results and my blood work shows that I'm anemic... I'm upset because I'm already taking iron every day and the nurse that called me didn't bother to look at my chart to see that... And then her advice was "oh, well then keep doing what you're doing." I don't really know that I'm ok with how that conversation ended... Not sure if I should call and talk to my normal nurse about it or just wait until my next appointment.

    Progress (week/day): 6w2d

Symptoms: Can we make a "no symptoms" check in thread? I mean, I guess my nips are kinda sensitive sometimes, and I may have felt a mild queasiness today, but I was also really nervous about my u/s this afternoon, so queasiness could have been caused by nervousness. (We saw the bean and the HB! whew! huge relief for me, especially because of my ultra mild/missing symptoms.)  But all my bloat's gone away, no vomiting, no diarrhea, no constipation, no insomnia, no falling asleep at 5pm... But I have HELLA food aversions. Everything is disgusting. I really only like fruit, juice, smoothies, and ginger ale right now. Oh, and all the carbs. Deciding on dinner is a whole thing with DH every night now.

    Rants/Raves/Questions: I guess I covered it above.

  • @MissAmeliaPond I finally posted one after wanting one for about a week!
  • Progress (week/day): 7 wks 2 days (approx)

Symptoms: sore boobs, nausea, occasional cramping, NEW: lower back soreness and spasms.

Rants/Raves/Questions: I have a note in to my doctor and awaiting reply, but I'm not typically one for back issues. This started about two days ago (soreness). Spasms/twitching started last night. Anyone know of anything safe to take? Are heating pads safe to use? I carry a lot for work to and from my car, so I'm thinking I need to start with easing up on that.
  • Apparently me saying that I was hoping the morning sickness wouldn't get worse was just the sign it was waiting for.

April 19... And at that appointment I'll have to see a different doctor because mine will be on vacation. I think I will call.

    Symptoms: ungodly hunger

Rants/Raves/Questions: So yesterday and today I've been so unbelievably hungry. It's getting to the point where it is ridiculous how often I have to eat. Like every 90 minutes or less. I'm very thankful that I don't have any nausea!

So 8 weeks apparently was when my nausea decided to kick in. Here's a fun thing: random gagging for no real reason.

......and now I'm gagging because I was looking at gagging gifs. Oy vey.

    Progress (week/day): 7 wks 1 days

Symptoms: sore boobs, constant nausea, sore lower back, general exhaustion

Rants/Raves/Questions: I have a bad cold so it's hard to say how much exhaustion is from that versus from being pregnant. I forgot how bad even mild nausea can be when it's constant!
  • PSA:  yellowish CM

So last week, I think I mentioned that I was having yellow tinged CM pretty much since bfp. Had a swab done at my last appointment and it just came back as bacterial vaginosis.  :s If you're having this symptom, make sure to mention it to your health care provider so they can test you. I'm going on a 7 day antibiotics course now... BTW, I had no other symptoms besides the color.

Oh no! I just noticed this a lot this week. It's like a sticky CM and quite a bit when I have it. Is that how yours was?

  • @m6agua yes, it's like sticky/creamy combo but yellowish. Basically if it looks different from your CM pre-pregnancy you should mention it to your ob/gyn so they can take a look and swab if necessary.

I mean, I understand the paranoid tendencies, but in this case, yes.  I'm sure your OBGYN knows you're pregnant at this time and is prescribing accordingly.

You could ask your doc about probiotics to help replace your good gut flora. She may be able to prescribe something for you once your antibiotic is done or to be taken along with it.

I've been taking probiotics forever. My doctor said they are just fine for pregnancy. I actually attribute my lack is symptoms and general feeling well to my probiotics. Pregnancy slows down everything inside. Probiotics keep everything moving.
  • So this is weird and happened last time I was pregnant and has happened twice again this time around. I'm wondering if anyone has had this happen or knows what it is?

My right hand from time to time will go bonkers, and I cant really control it. Its like the nerves in my hand and fingers just start spazzing out, causing my hand to move around and fingers to bend/move. It sounds super silly and strange but it is actually kind of worrysome because sometimes it will carry on for a while and almost hurts.

@NatashaSprout It is interesting you say that. I had a feeling that maybe all the work I have been doing over the last few months to improve my gut health with fermented food and diet may have had an impact on my lack of morning sickness. I couldn't find anything out there to support my theory. I don't take probiotics, but I drink a lot of kombucha and take gut shots and drink bone broth every morning.
  • Guys, my face is like freaking out. This is worse than period acne. I can't recall if this happened in my past pregnancies.
