Baby shopping?

2»

Re: Baby shopping?

  • I finally dug out the NB and 0-3m clothes from storage and washed them all, and put them in our nursery drawers. I'm having a few minutes of panic that we don't have enough (I didn't get out the things that are outrageously girly, only the stuff I had that was gender-neutral: I can always pull the other things out and wash them on the fly if I turn out to have another girl), but I need to chill, haha. If I DO have a boy, I'm sure the families will go nuts and there will be a sudden explosion of tiny clothes.

  • With Baby #4, all we've bought is a travel bassinet, as we have a trip planned (sort of an obligation) somewhere between 3-5 weeks after birth. Prayers appreciated as we will have me and DH + four sweet ones, including a newborn (!!!!!!!) in a hotel room for FIVE NIGHTS. Whew. I'm sweating a bit just thinking of it!

  • We have a ton of 0-3 month clothes and are picking up more second hand tomorrow but will definitely need to buy more newborn things if baby girl ends up being small. We had our shower already so the bigger things we still need now are a stroller, baby monitor and baby carrier. We have a bunch of miscellaneous small things too still needed like pacifiers, crib sheets, natural cleaners, diapers, nursing bras, ect. I feel decently good though with still having three months left! I know some random bigger expenses will probably pop up so we're trying to make sure we have some money saved for those.
  • @Knottie44691675 I'm like the opposite of you in clothes. I've been thinking it's more safe to pick up stuff sized 6mo and up so I hardly have anything small!  My mom keeps mentioning my birthweight of 9lb10oz and telling me I might not want to buy too much small stuff. Her mentality has snuck in!
  • You guys are all freaking me out. We haven't bought anything! The nursery is getting painted next week and I need to order the furniture. My shower is not until May after that I'll buy everything else. Man I feel so behind!

My mom also said not to buy newborn clothes. I was only 6 pounds when I was born and my mom said I only wore newborn size for a couple weeks. My mom said 3-6 months is a good size to have a lot of.

Honestly I think a lot of people are ahead of the game... My close friend is 2 weeks ahead of me and had her entire nursery done by 12 weeks or so!!! She made me feel like such a slacker- but I didn't want to get anything until I was sure that everything was okay.

We had our nursery done around 5 months (I felt late because of my friend) and now I am realizing how ahead of the game I really am! I have the nursery pretty much done, plus the car seat and stroller (got amazing deals so I got them early). I want to spend weekends getting stuff done but don't have much and want to wait until after the shower anyway.

As long as the paint is dry for about 3 days before baby you will be FINE!!! Everyone just gets excited and ready to nest at a different time. Moral of my long story? Don't feel like you're "behind" we still have 2 months to go!!!

Don't stress! Like PP said, everyone does stuff at a different pace and I'm confident you'll be good to go by the time baby comes. All we have is a crib and dresser and a little bag of clothes I've collected since I found out I was pregnant in November, maybe 10 onesies/outfits.
    We'll get it done :)

Don't stress about it.  All baby really needs is a place to sleep, some diapers and wipes, some source of food, a car seat and maybe a stroller or stroller frame or carrier, and something to wear (and ours being June babies, they don't really need that much to wear at first either).  A lot of people don't use their nurseries for the first few months and babies don't care if they are decorated from day 1.  All the bouncers, swings, play mats, and other baby gear are "nice to have" stuff that can be bought almost just as easily after baby gets here.  With Amazon Family free 2-day shipping, you don't necessarily even have to  leave the house with baby to get whatever you need.

  • Baby shopping? Haven't started at all. Haven't bought one single thing! He's gonna wear his older brother's take-home jam-jams and everything else he wears will be his oldest brother's clothes. All we need are diapers. I guess I could go ahead and buy those....
