what have you used that worked? LO can't use any products with oatmeal and most soothing things I've seen, all have oatmeal in them. I've stopped bathing him as often but he's so flaky and he itches his head a lot too
All i had to do was scrub their heads with their shampoo & a comb & it went away. The Doc said if it got worse he would prescribe a special shampoo. You should ask your pediatrician if nothing is helping.
I used olive oil and it worked for us. I put it on the cradle cap area about an hour before bathtime one night and just let it soak until bath. Then washed it out and use a fine tooth comb. Took a couple days but most of it went away after just the one treatment.
This stuff is amazing! I love it! Has multiple things you can use it for (one being cradle cap) and the tube last quite awhile. I use it for diaper cream and my daughter has never had an issue with diaper rash. Her cheeks also get dry and red so I put a little on her cheeks at night and it helps so much! Would definitely recommend it!
I put coconut oil on his head a few hours before bath, then scrub his scalp with a soft bristle brush in the tub. Later I back comb over the bad parts and they start to come off. A few times and it has all gone away now!
I tried for months to get rid of LO's cradle cap. I tried coconut oil and it didn't really help. Then I used eucerin for eczema (not sure if it has oatmeal in it or not) and his ped prescribed a hydrocortisone cream that helped it go away within a few days.
Thanks ladies! I always put the oil on afterward and not before his bath so I'm going to try that and scrub with a bristle brush while he's in there. I have hydrocortisone cream left over so I can use that too because the eucerin does have oatmeal
We rubbed baby oil on his scalp with a soft bristle toothbrush and let it sit for about 15 minutes, then used the toothbrush to brush off/loosen all the flakes, then washed his hair with Mustela Cradle Cap shampoo. Took it all away within a few days! We haven't had any problems with it coming back since he was about 2 months old...we still use the shampoo when we bathe him just in case.

@chelseajeanene I just wanted to share my experience with you because I think we've had some similar experiences (based on what you've written in the past). My little guy had thrush when he was little, then cradle cap, then eczema. When he was 4 months old he got RSV and was on antibiotics, steroids and albuterol in a nebulizer. Since that time, his skin got so bad. Not a day has gone by in months that he didn't have an awful itchy red rash on his cheeks. His cradle cap got bad and started oozing and blistering. It soon spread over his body. He then broke into hives after eating and developed food allergies. It doesn't sound like your baby is even close to this bad, but just wanted to tell you what helped with us in case it can help you. I took him to a homeopathic doctor and finally realized that he had a systemic yeast infection. The antibiotics killed the good bacteria and caused a yeast overgrowth. Once I realized that, I put him on a really good probiotic called threelac. Everything cleared up. I haven't seen his face look so clear since he was 4 months old. His cradle cap is gone and he's generally happier and less fussy. I had no idea why he was suffering and western medicine does not believe candida is real. Just wanted to share our experience in case anything rings true for you and can help another mom and baby! Best of luck!
@Bellarose212 this is my little girl right now. She's had red itchy skin, sometimes oozing for 2 months. We have tried everything- literally everything. We've been to the derm 4 times and we have an appt with an allergist on wed. I'm going to give this pro biotic a shot. Where did you find it? Health food store? She's so miserable, I hate it. She is constantly itchy. It all started after she got a nasty 3 week cold.
@mwertalik This is the difference it made. He looks like he's doing a commercial for probiotics. Haha! But I can't rave about that probiotic enough. I took him to an allergist, a dermatologist and two different pediatricians. They all told me to try different moisturizers. But the problem was that it came from within! I got threelac on Amazon! It's really expensive but so worth it. Just give your little girl 1/4 packet a day. It gets worse before it gets better. It took two weeks of using it until we saw results. I feel your pain. Let me know if I can help in any way!
@Bellarose212 these is exactly what my little girl looks like. Exactly. Your little guy is absolutely darling BTW. I'm getting this stuff right now. I see there is a lemon flavor-is there non flavored? Did you put in his bottle?
It only comes in lemon flavor. I took 1/4 packet (my little guy is 20 lbs- you may need less if she's smaller) and split it up between three bottles so he would have a very little bit spread throughout the day. Just mix it with the formula/pumped milk. I would start off slowly and see how she reacts to it. When the yeast die, they release toxins in the body and the only way to get rid of them is through the liver, kidneys and skin. That's why the skin will get worse during the detox process. The worse the yeast overgrowth, the longer it will take to clear out. There were a couple times I was about to give up and stop giving him the probiotic because I was so frustrated seeing his skin worse than ever. I emailed the company asking how long to expect this and they said to be patient and give it at least 2 weeks. Well exactly at the 2 week mark he woke up with gorgeous skin. I think I cried. My husband told me not to get my hopes up because it's probably just a fluke. But he's been clear ever since. I seriously sound like an infomercial, but I just wanted to help someone else going through this because I know how frustrating and upsetting it is to watch your baby suffer. I'm so glad you saw this and I know it will help your little girl! Keep me posted! @mwertalik
@Bellarose212 thank you so much! Sorry for highjacking your post @chelseajeanene. This is encouraging to hear. I'm praying this helps LO bc it has been such a struggle. I ordered through prime so we'll start Monday. It has been SO frustrating to hear something different from every doctor and she has had zero improvement.
Re: Dry scalp/cradle cap
ETA: you could use coconut or any other oil too.
