low hcg levels at 5 weeks

Was at emerge last evening because or some minor bleeding (more than spotting but no clots) happened for about 12hrs off and on then stopped. My last pregnancy ended ectopic and similar bleeding to this was my only symptom of the ectopic pregnancy at 10weeks so I went to be checked out as my pregnancy has not yet been confirmed by the Dr. I am 5weeks 5days (based on my last period), pregnancy was confirmed but my hcg levels are really low around 250 I believe they said and they did an ultrasound and saw nothing. Nothing in my tube nothing in my uterus no signs of anything. I am going back to the hospital tm to do another check on my hcg levels checked as they had nothing to compare them to. The Dr. said if they triple things may be good if they only slightly rise it may be another ectopic and if they drop I am loosing a pregnancy that wasn't really there. Anyone ever had a similar experience?

I would push for another ultrasound around 6-7 weeks to confirm it's not another ectopic, if they haven't already scheduled one for you.

Fx you get crazy wonderful high numbers from your second beta.

I have had losses, not exactly the same fact pattern, but your Dr is correct about looking at the HCG for some answers. Hopefully your numbers jump up, but he is right that if they do not double or if they drop it could be a bad sign. I hope for your sake that its not. you could be a lot earlier in your pregnancy than you think if you do not know exactly when you ovulated. LMP is not the most reliable predictor, for example, I have irregular cycles and sometimes I ovulate on CD 21 and some times on CD 14, sometimes not at all. They only way I know for sure is by temping and doing OPKs. So you could easily be in your fourth week instead of your 5th which might explain the low HCG and ultrasound results. Just try and be calm while you wait for you next HCG results. Good Luck and fingers crossed!!!!

I'm sorry for your previous loss. I'm in a similar boat. I've also had a previous loss and low HCG levels during this pregnancy with some bleeding. There's a wide range of normal HCG levels, so nothing is fore sure. And as someone else said, it's possible that you're just earlier in the pregnancy than you think. Waiting and seeing is all that can be done as this point. I hope everything goes well for you and your little one.

Yes. Had low hcg levels and they increased but did not double as they should. Couldn't see anything on an ultrasound at 5 weeks or again at six weeks. Had to do a d&c to rule out ectopic and they did find some pregnancy tissue in my uterus.

No experience myself, but my best friend had low HcG, and they didn't double as fast as they should. At 7 weeks they did find her snowflake, and he's an adorable 3 year old,
Its a difficult situation and it can go both ways.

No experience, but many T&Ps that your beta level jumps and you have a sticky baby

I've experienced this and for me, it ended up being a miscarriage at 9 weeks.

However, like others have said, you may just be really early. Praying for a sticky bean for you!
