FFCF!

What are your confessions today?

Mine for today... I had one of those dreams last night that just rocks you to the core. It wasn't baby-related at all, but still really put me in an off mood. I keep telling myself it was just a dream, but I can't shake that cruddy/sad feeling. Ugh! TGIF.

Re: FFCF!

  • Two very different confessions today:

I have spent the past three nights making a registry on Babies-r-us. I have to do it all online because I won't be back to the states until a couple days before. My showers are still over two months away but I got really excited and couldn't stop....

I got into this big discussion with some friends the other day. I had no idea people actually sit on public toilet seats. (And they don't always put toilet paper down!?) I've always been a "squatter" and thought that was the norm and I guess just never thought about it. I didn't realize I'd be the odd man out in this discussion. TMI convo but I was shocked and they found it hilarious!  I realized once my bump starts getting bigger I'll have to sit and it's kind of freaking me out.

  • @Hannah0726 I sit but I always wipe the seat first and look closely to make sure it's clean! I used to be a squatter but after some research, found that there is not much you can catch from a toilet seat. I do however, flush public toilets with my foot. I don't want on my hands whatever was on the person's hands who used it before me!

I've had a big 20 oz. Dr. Pepper and bag of Lay's sour cream and onion chips every single day this week on my way home from work. No shame.

And @Hannah0726 - I might be a "sitter" - I have never mastered the squat. I always end up peeing on myself or all over the toilet when I try. and I gave up using tp as a barrier years ago. I figure it's a butt... there's gonna be germs there no matter what and I'm not really touching it or anything :|
  • My confession...I absolutely hate when dh's friend who has a 3 year old son comes over. I love that the kids can play but they leave without picking up toys or anything and it falls on our kids. That isn't fair at all as his kid is usually the one throwing things all over. I get that he is 3 but , when my kids were still too young to clean up after themselves I either helped them or did it for them. I never left my kids's mess!!!
  • I love to cook, but this pregnancy has not been conducive to cooking often.  I bought Raisin Bran Crunch last week and pretty much just want to eat that for every meal now.  It has lots of fiber, which is necessary.

  • @Hannah0726 butt germs is not something I try to think about lol. There are some dirty people in this world and who knows what is on their butt or the back of their legs when they sit? Ewwwww!!!

I like to think that this area is probably fairly clean since its mostly covered all the time.

My registry is pretty much complete at Target. It's not made public yet, I'll wait for the invites to come out for my June 12 shower, but I was laid off and needed something to do so I researched the crap out of everything! I was told not to make it public until the invites go out because a lot of times things you add will be out of stock or discountinued by then. I check mine occasionally just to double check my car seats and strollers are still available.

Lol and I'm a wiper and a sitter. If it makes any difference. I get more grossed out by the door handle after I have washed my hands.

  • So we are having a boy and we were set on our names until we found out. Now DH really wants a Jr. I think it would be cute but  DHs middle name is Shane which was also his uncles first name. His uncle was a drug addict and passed away around 8 years ago from an over dose. He was not a good person for many reasons and I don't want to feel like we are dedicating our son to him even though it's just a middle name.
  • @tmk0325 I didn't see an option to make mine private on Babies r us but I would've liked that option. It's also a good idea to go back and check later to make sure everything is there. Thanks!
Do people usually do two registries like with weddings or just stick to one? Target would be my other option.
I also used "Lucie's List" to help make my registry. She had a lot of great suggestions.
  • So I have seen FB blowing up the past few months with these LulaRoe leggings. I never really looked into it as I typically only wear black leggings if I wear leggings at all (I honestly like wearing jeans/jeggings).

Well my BFF (who is 30 weeks pregnant) had a really cute dress on at her sisters baby show last week and I told her I thought it was super cute, and she told me it was a LulaRoe dress called the "Julia". I looked into it and got my first one and OMG IT'S SO CUTE! It's stretchy so it looks so cute with a bump! Now I want more!!!

    Anyone else tried LulaRoe?

  • I guess my confession is that I'm a sitter.  I flush with my hand. I wash my hands extremely well afterwards with soap and water.  Just fyi, unless its automatic water, your hand touches the same place my hand, which touched the toilet flusher, so you better be washing your hands extra good!!  :D

I hate public restrooms.  I'm a toilet paper barrier person - it may not be doing much, but it at least makes me feel better - and a foot flusher.  As for the sinks, if they aren't automatic, I turn them off with a paper towel after washing.  I also open the door with a paper towel whenever possible.  And then I use hand sanitizer.  As you might imagine, taking my 3 year old to a public restroom is my own personal nightmare.

Side note - after typing that, I realize I might be insane.

  • @Lynnlove28 - In your situation I really don't think that many people (aside from family) would even see that as a connection unless you tell them. Was your hubby named after his uncle, if so, then I can definitely see where you are coming from. Maybe instead of going the complete "Jr." route, what if you keep hubby's first name and give the baby his own middle name?

Quite a few moms that I know registered at 2 or 3 places. I only picked Target cause we live in a rural area and it's the closest around. Babies R Us is like 3 hours away! I really debated doing an Amazon registry but the older people probably would of put up a stink about that and having to order something online. I made sure a lot of my list was available in store, but my bigger items were only only. Target has free shipping, so that was a perk for me! And I browsed Lucies list too, specifically for a double stroller. Helpful!

  • @Hannah0726  I look at the toilet seat and if it looks clean (no pubes, visible pee, etc) I sit down otherwise I try another stall. I foot flush. I love, love, love the automatic sinks and paper towel dispensers. Otherwise I use my elbow on the paper towel handle. I then open the door with the paper towel. We have a lot of visitors at work use the restroom. I didn't use to be so particular but it was one too many times at work sitting in a stall hearing someone finish and then do a literal 2 second rinse or nothing at all and then leave. It made me realize people are super gross in general. The handle to the door out grosses me out way more than the seat for that reason. On the plus side teaming this up with my don't touch magazines in offices nor about anything on a plane and I haven't been sick yet this year!  I'm sure there is definitely luck thrown in there but I also think I reduced my exposure.

  • My friends and family think I am this big planner and researcher but currently I don't feel like it at all. I am dreading this registry because I have no idea what we need. I know nothing! It is so frustrating and intimidating. Every time I start to try and look there are just so many options it overwhelms me and I give up!

  • @Bubblegum5586 Check out alphamom.com and her pregnancy calendar!  Some of the weeks have registry must haves and other items to wait for.  Plus, she's funny. :) Also, it can be overwhelming, don't worry!  I'm also a planner but still didn't research a ton for baby stuff.  I mostly asked other moms I knew what they liked and then tried those items.

  • @Bubblegum5586 I highly recommend taking a friend with a pretty young child with you for support and guidance.  I had to leave BRU when we tried to do our registry because I got so overwhelmed and frustrated.  They give you a list but the list is pretty crap mostly, they have everything on it and you don't really need all that. Or at least I didn't.

I don't know where you are planning to register, but babies r us has a checklist that you can use. It has categories: feeding, playtime, strollers, etc. You can click on the categories and it will give you a list of "must haves" and extras. Then you can click on the links and it will take you there.

As far as what to choose, I would change the search to "top rated" or "best selling" and go from there. Plus Lucie's List website was helpful with just knowing the necessities.

It is overwhelming at first but I did for an hour each night and would add and delete things. I'm sure I'll change things over the next couple months!

I'm also not going to register in a store though. I would assume they also give you a checklist or something? Then I would probably just go aisle by aisle.
  • I'm currently sulking because we're down in FL, and I really wanted a chik-fil-a (yes, we have these in NJ but there aren't any near where I live) sandwich with their coleslaw on it, so I go there and they tell me that the coleslaw is discontinued!  I tell the girl to cancel my order and I drove away.

I actually prefer sex later in pregnancy, there's something about how O feels when your uterus is stretched out that makes it feel that much better (TMI??? lol).  Actually, during my first pregnancy I was on pelvic rest for a loooong time, we didn't do it for the first time until I was about 20 weeks.

  • @Lynnlove28 I don't think people would associate the name with the uncle if the baby is a Jr. On another note though, working at a bank has given me SO many reasons NOT to have a Jr. Bills, finances, credit issues, etc...get really mixed up with Sr/Jr combos. It can lead to issues down the road that no one is ever prepared to deal with. Maybe you could us dh's first name and give him a different middle name?
  • @jamiesc58 I've brought that very point up to DH when discussing names. If he doesn't have a junior he wants to use his grandpas name which doesn't flow well with DHs first name. We were settled on names until we found out it's a boy, now we are back to discussing! Ugh.
  • I made DH an Easter Basket just so I could eat the candy
  • I can't stand to see someone on Facebook begging for things for their baby that's about to be born. I understand if the baby was premature and they weren't prepared, but if a woman goes full term and gets to a week before her due date and then says they have nothing for the baby and need anything they can get. You have basically 10 months to prepare yourself for the birth of your baby. I know that many things can happen, job changes ect but nothing for their baby?
This bugs me too.  Like how do you go 38+ weeks and not realize you're going to need a car seat and a place for the baby to sleep.

Oh no  Yea its been gone for a while but I did hear that they published the recipe for all the coleslaw fans.

I would just pick one thing to focus on at a time.  And know that there isn't any perfect item and you wont fully know what YOU need until the baby is here.

  • @acciobaby123 Wait?! People DONT pee in the shower?
This!!! I don't see why not? It seems like the perfect place to me.
