So my day ended up being super busy! Thank you to everyone for all the kind words and the creepy internet hugs. They really helped! At least it knocked my BSC down a peg. I hate early testing, and even though I was disappointed by the results, at least I got to enjoy happy hour! I wanted to be able to comment and reply to you all but I'm still not home and mobile replying to so many of you would be a nightmare. So I'm just going to send you all creepy Internet hugs for any BFNs or just general bad days, and start fresh tomorrow!
GTKY: What was your favorite subject in school? Did it end up becoming part of your career? Anything you wish you focused on more or were better at? Math and Science which neither of them have anything to do with my career. I wished I had focused on my grades better in high school and on my SATs/ACTs more but I did well in college regardless.

@Sugargirl1019 OK, so I totally want to slap the people that said that to you. Anyone who has looked into the Big D should know that for someone with Type 1, that is an outstanding number. So many Type 2s are happy to get under a 7 even when medicated. Geez. Creepy internet hugs to you from someone with Type 2 who is in awe of how hard it must be to deal with a pancreas that doesn't work.

I've had a crazy day, but thank you for all the love you guys! @wineo929 I would totally take you up on couch and wine and pizza anytime, that sounds amazing. Like right now.
I know now I say this at least once a week, but I am really so thankful for you guys! I just got home from Maundy Thursday services and feel a bit more centered now. Anyway, you all are the absolute best.
ETA: So sorry for CD1s @Sparty18 and @wineo929 !! Hope you both got the chance to treat yourselves today.
@wineo929, sorry about CD1. @Sugargirl1019, sorry the group you shared with IRL were less than supportive. Uncool. Aso, I love Outlander, both the books and tv show. @becauselove, I prefer to relax and play with my phone, but today's stylist was a chatty Cathy, so I had to try to keep up. On another note, being with family is what's most important. I hope you and your family have a great Easter.
Sorry for posting and ghosting on Thursday. We found out last minute that I had to be a witness in court for DH and in the long run we ended up getting his son for the weekend for the first time since the December 13th.
@mrsdee15 it is awesome and I miss it greatly! Granted, I
only worked in rehab with animals that could never be released but it was so
amazing
@H4apartyof5 Birds are so much smarter than people give them
credit for. And birds of prey, in particular, are very loyal (especially if you’re
the one feeding them lol) of course they’re still wild animals so some have
their moments where they try to remind you of just that but overall they are
majestic and pretty well behaved once they’re “broken” I hate that term btw,
but it’s the adjustment and bonding period. We NEVER “broke” as in showing we
were alpha and they would potentially be hurt for not listening. We always
bonded and developed as much trust as their history would allow.
@khbear I actually started as a volunteer at my state park
which has the birds of prey that can’t be released because of injuries or being
imprinted on people. They are ALWAYS looking for free labor at those types of
places lol. Now birds of prey are protected under federal law but some states
have varied regulations about volunteers’ access so for me it was a one day
training to be able to handle supervised and then they decided when we could go
solo depending on your skill level and comfort. Personally, I had also worked
as a zoo keeper for years with exotic birds- parrots, macaws, cockatoos, emus,
etc- so my comfort was already there since birds of prey are far less likely to
bite lol so I was able to go solo within a couple weeks. But talk to the people
there, I bet you would be surprised how happy they would be to have you
@leksil I had actually planned on getting my degree in
wildlife biology with a minor in ornithology but life changed my course and I
ended up with a business degree and culinary training lol but that is awesome
and I have soooo much respect for your cousin. I’m still researching the laws
here in Maryland specifically because I am especially interested in owls and no
one can seem to answer me about whether we are allowed to house them… but
I plan to end up doing rehab and education with them. The problem with hunting
is that most native birds of prey can only be kept for a short amount of time
before they have to be released, and to successfully hunt you have to have a
long developed bond. Some exotic species can be purchased and kept since they
of course can’t be released here. Rehab birds are kept far more frequently, but
then it comes down to why they’re being rehabbed. Some are due to injury which
prevents them from being able to hunt. Others are due to imprinting which,
depending on the age it occurred, can mean they don’t know how to hunt. But it’s
definitely something that I would love to try.
PLEASE! ignore how terrible I look in these pics lol I had just come off a 16 hour summer shift so I was literally a hot mess lol
