I thought you were talking about the Burger King burger at first. Haha. But no, the candy! I love candy Whoppers! I'm not a fan of Milk Duds, though. I don't know why I associate them with each other, but I do.

For the longest time I used to confuse those two candies! I don't know why, though. Clearly milk duds > whoppers

On the subject of sweets we dislike, I hate ice cream.

I also hate bannanas and all deserts with nuts in them, with the exception of baklava, which I love.

On the topic of religion, It's so interesting to hear others opinions and experiences with it. My parents were not Christian but all of the sudden when I was around 5 became interested in Christianity and brought me to church. The church was held in a college auditorium and was geared towards young peoople...very laid back with rock music and guitars and stuff like that. I grew up in that kind of church, and was very very involved. That really translated into my adult life and I would say my faith is central to who I am. I wouldn't call myself "religious" but I read the Bible as often I can (I try to every day but I would be lying if I said I did) and DH and I both center our life decisions around our faith. We go to a Pentecostal church (now hold on...it's not all fire and brimstone)..it's very varied. Some people wear more semi-formal clothes and others wear jeans...we have people of every ethnicity and background, we have little old church ladies and young families, we have drug addicts and people with no wehre else to go. It's a very "come as you are" attitude....but I really feel at home there. I guess what I'm saying is...it's very important in my life. But obviously that isn't everyone's choice.

Oh yeah...this is a UO post. Hmm...I HATE ham. And mushrooms. I also hate cadbury creme eggs...they're disgusting! What else...I got married at 20 years old and I have no regrets. Trust me, at the time...it was a very unpopular opinion!!!

People get weirdly offended when you get the sex of their baby wrong and I just don't get it.

I am that person. I get weirdly offended. But I realize this is the bsc in me and I keep it to myself and respond with an appropriate meaningless small talk, lol.

@furbabymom2007 That's super weird to me - I was raised Methodist and we were essentially Catho-lite. Very formal, observed Lent and the works. Biggest difference was open communion, no kneeling, and little to no Latin. Even visiting other Methodist churches when I was young was a similar atmosphere, and I loathed going to other Protestant denominations due to the "contemporary" vibe that you describe (I'm far more comfortable in mass).

I'm no longer practicing, so I can't speak to the current state of the church, but maybe it's just that particular service?

Catholic and Methodist are pretty different in terms of doctrines; well, I guess Catholic and all Protestant churches are pretty different. Big this like sainthood and merit from the saints and the existence of purgatory are not taught in protestant churches. In terms of service style our service at my Methodist church is, if not exactly formal, very formulaic with hymns and a kind of liturgical calendar. @gonetothesea & @RatsPJOh man, I could really go for a BK whopper now! Haven't had one since I was a kid! And milk duds are yummy! I remember milk duds and whoppers being next to each other in the candy box at the movie theaters growing up.

@vintageandrea90 I got married at 19, it also was quite an unpopular opinion, less so that I was marrying DS's father but still didn't stop my extended family bitching (2yrs later they're still carrying on about it)

my UO is that I actually don't have an UO today...

@Winnie81 I worked at BK as a second job while I was in college. Never again will I eat BK food.

@nwegman7878 oh I can imagine! I stopped eating fast food years ago because something in the food almost always makes me have to rush home to the bathroom. Still thought they were tasty, but not worth it. My husband worked at Wendy's in high school and he said never again.

On the flip side... I worked at a Mcallisters deli in college and still love it . They finally got one near where I live now and I am dying to go.

I only like chocolate when I am drinking red wine. I don't crave it, and I get annoyed when my husband buys me chocolate and thinks that is a gift in any way, shape or form. He ends up eating it anyway. Flowers, jewelry or electronic gadgets only, bub.

Damn I missed this yesterday. I am going to throw mine out there anyway. I think that people should have to pass some sort of basic civics test to be able to vote. I think too many people without a clue vote for whatever with zero understanding of how their decision will ultimately affect the nation. Maybe local governments offer a free class for people to attend when they register to vote? Obviously that would never happen because you can't deprive anyone of their right to vote regardless of how clueless they are, but I think our society would be in a better place if people made an effort to understand politics/foreign policy/taxes/etc.

@HurricaneAmelia - I agree with you about the civics test. I just wanted to throw it out there that most states require seniors in high school to take an American Government class, so they technically ARE required to take a basic class on the American Government.

I hate and all banana types things. I can only eat about half of one before I want to puke. My puppy is on board with me and hates them too. I made him treats and he just licked the peanut butter but refused to eat the part with the banana.

That is so crazy to me because my puppy loves bananas! Every time we move the blender she comes running because she knows a bananas about to be opened for a smoothie. Too funny that our dogs are just like us!

I think this is the most offended I've ever been by an UO! Bananas are literally a staple of my diet! Though I can get on board with hating banana flavored things. Artificial Banana flavoring is disgusting. Though I think this hatred can mostly be blamed on a bad experience in high school with a bottle of 99 bananas.

I'm aware of the differences in doctrine - I was speaking in regards to the atmosphere of the services, since furbabymom2007 said she went to a really informal Methodist church which surprised me. On the contemporary scale, Methodist services tend to be, as you said, very formulaic and closer to a Catholic mass than most other Protestant denominations.

I am fairly certain is was the informal service from that church. My mom always (jokingly of course) refers to methodists as "lazy catholics". So it sounds like it might be something that DH and I could compromise on. i did a little reading on it a little while back and for the most part it wouldn't be a huge shift for me at all. DH, being russian orthodox, might have a little bit more of a learning curve. But as far as I understand, the foundation is the same.

i am really not particular about which denomination we choose.. I really just want to find one that is a good fit for us.

The trouble is, everyone does take a basic civics class, usually two: in middle school and high school. And yet.........

I was raised evangelical Christian and grew up to be an atheist who hates bananas, Cadbury eggs, peeps, coconut..... Would rather eat nuts over any candy or dessert... And who sends her daughter to a Baptist preschool. Oh, and I've never seen Friends.
