My doctor told me "be careful of lunch meat and cheeses like feta" and I was like "uh huh okay yeah." Totally not going to stop eating subway and firehouse subs- I'm not afraid of your sandwich meat, and every cheese in the US is freakin' pasteurized. Listeria shows up in everything, so while I'll be happy to use it as an excuse to avoid chicken salad (an abomination upon this and any other earth) if I want an Italian sub, I'm getting one. (Toasted or steamed, admittedly)
This one is unpopular with my friends who are already parents: I think that stepparents should have more rights when it comes to their step kids. I think it's ridiculous that I can't take my stepson to the doctor when he's sick, but I'm legally required to cover him under my insurance. I don't mind doing the latter, but hubby or his ex have to take days off work to take him to the doctor when I'm almost always available to do it.
@celette482 I am WITH you! Jimmy Johns and Panera sandwiches all the way!
I think this counts as an unpopular opinion. A lot of times I feel like I'm accidentally taking being pregnant for granted and I don't want to! When I was TTGP, I remember thinking "I will be in a good mood every day if I get pregnant because nothing could get me down". I need to remember that and stop being so moody. And enjoy this time.
@OrangeEv I am right there with you. While I love this baby and being pregnant it doesn't mean that I am happy 100% of the time...it is really tough being pregnant and working and being a mom and a grad student (this of course is my circumstances) but life is just hard and now our bodies are plotting against us so it if fair to say that we can't be 100% all the time everyday!
I hate bacon. And everybody was all like "oooo you're going to love bacon when you're pregnant" and I'm all "nope...the word bacon makes me want to puke" yet EVERYBODY feels the need to talk to me about bacon..
I immensely dislike cutesy nicknames coming from adults. Hubby, prego, preggers, tummy, kiddos... No idea why, my brain just immediately goes to "ewww" whenever I hear/read them.

My step-mom used to take me to the doctor all the time. I wonder if laws have changed or something? That is ridiculous.

I'm on the lunchmeat bandwagon. I've had Jimmy Johns almost every day this week. I do take the meat off and heat it up in the microwave and then put the sandwich back together but still, I'm eating my damn sandwich.

@MRSCORKER The new doctor finally allowed me to, but my husband had to call and OK it ahead of time. It might not be something that is strictly against the rules. That's why I'd like for us to have more clearly defined rules supporting our rights as parents. I would never try to replace my stepson's mom, but I'm still his parent and I take that very seriously, as does his stepfather. So it just sucks sometimes when people try to put us in our place...

I may not agree with you on the bacon part, but people talk to me the same way about pickles. EWWW. No, I will not like them. I refuse to like them and just talking or thinking about them makes me icky. Sorry people keep talking about the 'b' word so much around you. They just need to get over the fact that you're not going to like it.
On the subject of sandwiches: I've eaten Jimmy Johns four times this past week WITH SPROUTS. And I don't heat the meat because, gross. #livingontheedge

I don't heat it up either. But I skip the sprouts. God, I love Jimmy Johns. I think I know what I'm having for lunch!

I had a "let's get real" chat with my mother, who is a pathologist. And she said "yes, it's bad if you get listeria, and avoid anything that is outbreaking in the news....but it's everywhere. You can't possibly guarantee that you avoid exposure. Also, you drive to work. Even minor car accidents can cause MC and yet no one is saying all pregnant women stay homebound."
im not eating food that's clearly growing mold or anything, but seriously, I want a sandwich.

I had no idea the town we lived in had a Jimmy Johns. Like, I found out last week and then I ordered and then again, and again and again. I'm pretty sure the delivery dude and me are going to be BFFs by the time this kid comes because it's been the same guy every time! lol

I have never had Jimmy Johns and now I feel like a valuable part of my sandwich life is going unfulfilled!
I have had a ham and cheese sandwich everyday this week. Sometimes I heat the ham and sometimes I don't. Rebel.

Right! DH cooked bacon in the house and it's the first and only time I've actually been sick during pregnancy. I used to love bacon but I cannot take the smell right now!!
My UO is... I think it's okay to have a glass of wine here or there throughout pregnancy. I'm not saying everyone should go on a bender, but a glass of wine isn't going to cause FAS. I haven't had any wine yet but only bc I know myself and I'm going to want more than just one glass.
@bnsmith85 you know, I was with you, but right before I got my BFP was Valentine's Day and I had a glass of prosecco (not realizing I was KU) and it made me so sick! I usually love it and it hit me really hard. So I think I'll be laying off even later on because apparently pregnant me does not like any of that no sir.
I think it's crazy when parents get professional photos done for every. single. holiday. I can see birthdays and Christmas (for cards), but do you really need expensive photos of your child in their Halloween costume? Or Valentine's Day attire? or with freakin' baby chicks and bunnies for Easter?

I didn't even know this was a thing. Professional Halloween pictures? Really? I mean, use your phone and add a filter.

My UO is that while I love you ladies being all wild and crazy for eating sandwiches (I partake in them from time to time, too), I will not go back to a Jimmy Johns again because it supports the CEO's hobby. The CEO is an avid trophy hunter. He kills elephants, rhinos, zebras, leopards, etc. and poses next to them... I just can't support that.
My UO today is that I plan to have a diet coke during this pregnancy when I want one. I was trying to keep it to once a week but it's TOO HARD. I asked my OB at my appt the other day and she said she has no problem with one diet soda a day. I'm gonna try not to have one every day but damn it, I'm gonna have one when I want one!

I've seen these a ton! Professional family photos for Halloween where everyone is dressed up as a theme. For Halloween they also send out cards like we would do for Christmas with the family picture on it. I wouldn't for Halloween or any other holiday besides Christmas and a birthday.

I assume it's the caffeine you're worried about, correct? If so, have you considered caffeine free? I'm a Diet Coke addict (lol) but decided I wanted to kick caffeine years ago so that's what I drink...

It's more the artificial sweeteners/chemicals. I'm not getting any caffeine from anywhere else so I'm not worried about the 45ish mg in a DC.

Ha. I 4th this. I don't get it. I see so many photographers offering "mini-sessions" for every occasion. Actually, my UO is photography related: I'm not sure I want maternity photos done. When I see the standard maternity pose with the dad hugging the mom from behind as they both have their hands on her belly.... I find it kinda cheesy. I just can't imagine doing that and not cracking myself up. I'd probably annoy the sh*t out of the photographer. On the other hand, I'm all for newborn photoshoots. ALL about it.
@MRSCORKER I used to love Diet Coke but the "fake" taste hasn't been working with my nausea. However, I have been drinking regular Coke (and Dr. Pepper) which I NEVER used to do. I prob have a couple a week... lately it's been one a day because I've been so tired. Ugh, I hate that I'm drinking empty calories, but I figure it's better than all the chemicals.

OMG I wish I was still in ignorance on this one. I really like JJ's salad wrapped option and freaking A. Why?! Oh well. Just don't tell me anything compromising about Schlotzky's . I freaking love their original and if I had to boycott cinnabon I might cry forever.
Re: UO 3/24/16
I wish I didn't because I could definitely use some right now. If only it tasted as awesome as it smells...
