Since It's 10 minutes to Wednesday, I'll start. WTF to me. Tonight I went home & my dogs had gotten sick all over their crate. So I pick up their blankets, CAREFULLY start down the basement stairs while walking slowly & holding the railing...and fall anyway. Now I'm in the hospital hooked up to monitoring & having contractions. Thankfully baby looks amazing, his heart is strong, & all the blood work looks good. I have 2 more hours until I can get off the monitor. This was not how I saw my night going.

And now for my super whiney rant of a WTF Wednesday. Tough morning with the toddler meant I didn't get him to school until 7:45am and I didn't roll into work until 8:05am. I slipped in to the Kindergarten Center office since the secretary there is super nice and never rats me out when I am late. I settled in to get some paperwork done when I got an email that a 2nd grader forgot his morning meds so I needed to run up the hill and get him all set. A little more huffing and puffing, but whatever. I got him taken care of and then got a call that a kindergarten student was having ear pain and had a note from mom to check her ears this morning. So I ran back down the hill, getting stopped because a 1st grade student told her teacher that she "took mommy's medicine" this morning and the teacher was freaking out. I made a mental note to call home (it was her mom's gummy vitamins) when I got back up to my 1-3 office. I got to the kindergarten office and checked out the little girl with ear pain and all looked fine. Temp was perfect and no swelling/redness in ear or signs of fluid. I called mom and left a message that she looked great and it could just be allergies or nasal congestion causing that pain or pressure. Ran back up to the 1-3 office because two kids needed inhalers before gym class. Then, one of my "specials" came in because he reported to his teacher that his mom hit him this morning and I needed to do a full head-to-toe. Everyone wanted to file a 51A right away, but I found no physical injury and no report of abuse was given to me directly by the student. I communicated my findings and then got a call back from the parent of the little girl with the ear ache. She reported that she had just picked up her daughter because the teacher called and said she was going to throw up. Mom was confused (as was I!) since I had just assessed the student less than an hour earlier. Mom reported that the student was feeling fine and asking to go back to school. I had three kids in my 1-3 office so I couldn't just run back down the hill, so I called the kindergarten secretary and asked what was going on. She said that there were two kids holding buckets, but no one had thrown up and the girls were giggling with each other. Mind you, my nurse leader shares my kindergarten office so she was there the whole time. Whatever. Anyways, I said to send them back to class if they are not showing signs of distress. I asked why the other girl was dismissed and the secretary said the teacher was on the phone with mom right then. Another parent came into my office about her 3rd grade boy status post-concussion and she was pissed that his teacher apparently wasn't following protocol. I calmed her down and reassured her that I will follow up with the teacher. Then I got the call back from the kindergarten teacher saying it was her bad and she was going to have the mom bring the girl back to school since she didn't need to be dismissed. I did my snack check in with one of my diabetic students and saw a few post-gym injuries. The psychologist reported that a 2nd grade boy was smelly and could I just chat with him about hygiene? Thanks! Then I got an emergency call on the walkie to go down to kindergarten playground. I grabbed my go-bag and ran, nearly smashing into the fire marshall who was there for an inspection, which I totally forgot about and I was supposed to be showing the AEDs and acting as hostess, because that is my job (not!). I quickly explained I was running to a situation and would be back. I got to the K playground and the student was sitting there, perfectly fine. I brought him into my office and asked what happened and he said he fell off the swing trying to get off but nothing hurt. A quick once over and there was not a scratch on him. I booked it out of there in time to see the fire marshall checking the AED which I forgot to re-alarm when I was inspecting the pads last week. Of course he was concerned that I hadn't reactivated the alarm and so I just had to swallow it and admit that yes, I forgot to reset the alarm. At the same time, the janitor was asking me if there is really head lice in room whatever and if he needs to go vacuum the rugs. What?! No one said anything about lice to me all morning! I finished up with the fire inspection and then checked with the teacher of the suspected lice infested classroom who said "Oh, yeah, I got an email from a parent about lice or something. I can forward it to you if you want." Yes please, I want! And my supplies order still hasn't come in so I have had to McGuyver some pretty janky looking ice packs (basically wet paper towels in plastic baggies in the freezer). Is it time to go home yet? WAH! End of pathetic bratty rant.
Now I will have 0 time off accrued for the rest of the year and no FMLA. Besides the obvious, what if something happens in the fall and I'm completely out of all available tome off, I needed my last 2 weeks of vacation time to cover the lapse in daycare between when our start date is and when my husband's school year starts up again.
Anyone else having these same problems?
It sucks bc if anything happens when I get back then I'll have to take unpaid days, flex my time, or DH will have to take time off. Not to mention it will take me a good year and a half to get my vacation bank back to where it is now...

Anyone else getting them? I thought it was lack of potassium so I started eating more bananas, but here we are again..
I really feel like the potassium doesn't help. I eat a banana a day, sometimes two just because I like bananas and I still get Charlie horses and cramps. I am also really well hydrated, I usually drink over 8 cups of water a day, so it's not from that either!
