Friday + Weekend Ticker Change! (3/18 - 3/20)

Re: Friday + Weekend Ticker Change! (3/18 - 3/20)

  • Week/Size: 35/ENORMOUS

Symptoms: Lots of rib pain (still), swelling, back pain, stiff joints, and sleeplessness. Occasional heartburn. Oh, and the carpal tunnel has hit like a freight train.  Extremely painful in the mornings, but luckily by the afternoon it's calmed down to just numbness in all of my fingers.

The rave: I've finally managed to get one room of the house back under control! There's a slim chance that it may actually be clean(ish) someday. And we just found out that the dresser for the nursery is in; it'll be delivered next Saturday, so I can finally finish up the room.

The rant: I haven't slept this little probably ever, despite having a sleep disorder. I didn't know it was possible to be more tired than I usually am, but apparently it is!

    Questions: None.

GTKY: No, but I'm kind of sad about it. Husband and I are both religion-free nonbelievers, but we were both raised in the church (him Catholic, me Protestant). One of the things I still love about organized religion is the way that every life stage, from birth to death, is ceremonially marked by the community (baptism, first communion, marriage, last rites, and so forth); it's still weird to me that my daughter won't necessarily have that. But even if we were to agree to participate in something for our families' sake, I'm not sure which tradition we'd go for, since infant baptism was part of his religious upbringing, but is staunchly opposed within mine (we had baby dedications instead).

  • Week/Size: Saturday was 36 weeks/Honeydew!

Symptoms: So so tired, my boobs leaked once last week, and my body pretty much always hurts.

Rants/Raves: Well Saturday was an interesting day... woke up around midnight puking - which continued about every hour throughout the rest of the night. It was violent and painful and no fun... couldn't even keep water down! I called L&D triage around 8am when things still hadn't gotten better and they told me to come in. Long story short, my contractions were strong and about 2 min apart, got hooked up with a couple of IVs and nausea meds, and finally was able to get the contractions to slow down, and go home 5.5 hours later. Was quite a day.

    Questions: Nope

GTKY: Will your LO be participating in a religious/cultural birth ceremony shortly after he/she arrives? I would love for her to be dedicated, but we haven't found a church yet, so probably not.

I feel the same way although I'm not quite sure why I'm sad about it. SO and I were raised Catholic but now we're lapsed. We would consider baptizing if our families were insistent but nobody seems to care.
