November 2016 Moms

Well, it was fun while it lasted...

I went to my first appointment today and they performed a transvaginal ultrasound. As soon as the tech got it up on the screen, I could see the gestational sac. Unfortunately, it was empty. My heart immediately sank. She didn't have to tell me because I knew what that meant. My poor husband didn't know until the tech starting asking more questions and he gauged my response to what I was seeing. I did ask her to check for ectopic. She found no signs of that, at least. My OBGYN was not in the office today (she was on call at the hospital) so I had to talk to another OBGYN on staff. He tried to talk me into doing a D&C today (which I didn't necessarily appreciate), but I told him I plan to use this weekend to process this and to think over all my options. Anyways, you ladies have been absolutely lovely. I enjoyed my time here while it lasted, and I wish you all the best.

  • So sorry for your loss.  I'm glad you stood up for yourself regarding the D&C, no one should be pressured into something like that.  Take care of yourself.

  • I'm so sorry for your loss @BelcherEars, take care of yourself.
  • I am so very sorry for your loss. Id definitely give it time to resolve itself naturally. If nothing happens in a couple weeks you can always go back for a pill or D&C later. No reason to do it so soon though. I have had 2 MC's and the first resolved itself on its own and was much easier. The second required a D&C but given the choice Id always wait to see what your body will do first.
    Big Hugs!
  • My heart sank when I saw this. I'm so sorry love. That OB is a prick. Sending love your way, you're a rockin' chick. Will be thinking of you.

  • I am so sorry for your loss. I know exactly what your feeling. That is what I went through last time. Had an ultrasound at 10 weeks because of spotting and all I saw was an empty sac. I knew, DH didn't. I naturally mc at 11 weeks. The sac measured 6. If you have any questions feel free to pm me.

  • Could you be early? Last week I had just a sac and this week they saw a baby.  Sometimes a few days can make a big difference.

Unfortunately not. Given LMP, O, and date of first positive hpt, there should be a small embryo showing. I appreciate the positivity but the reality is nothing actually developed in the sac.
