@runningisrad I love you how choose your team of choice! I'm a big Packer fan - grew up in Packer country, my entire family are raving fanatics, the whole bit. My husband's family has never been huge into sports so he's always been pretty 'meh' about it all. Even though he doesn't have "a team" of his own, he has a hard time rooting for the Packers because their colors are so hideous. He always asks why I couldn't have been a Seahawks or Raiders fan or something like that. LOL!
You should tell your DH to root for the Vikes then. They have very pretty colors. If nothing else, it'd make the Border Battles that much more interesting for you guys!
My UO - I HATE the new Oreos. They changed the recipe last Fall to take out all the unsaturated fat. Apparently it only tastes different to a small percentage of people. I apparently am the small percentage as I noticed it immediately. Now I can't have them because to me they leave a funny -taste in my mouth. Great for my waistline, horrible for everything else. :-(
I don't understand the appeal or "benefits" of a med free birth. Give me the epidural ASAP every time.
Less side affects, I've heard so many women say that their epi didn't work or wore off, quicker recovery, you can move around freely during labor. There are arguably a ton of benefits.

I don't have anything to compare my med-free birth to, having only given birth once, but I would do it again a million times. (Too bad I only plan to have one more L&D.) I felt so powerful and in control. It was such an amazing experience to see and feel what my body can do.
No judgment of anyone who gets an epidural or takes other medications throughout pregnancy but I've always found it interesting how many women shun all medications during pregnancy but are OK getting a needle stuck in their spine during labor.
Oreos on the other hand, you can't buy regular or double stuffed...Mega Stuffed is where it's at. I used to hate Oreos until I married my husband. He got me hooked.
Med Free birth...I've done it both ways. Drug Free was actually better. It was faster and I was able to listen to my body and knew when to push.

I love jelly beans AND Peeps. I like my Peeps slightly stale. Mmmmm.
The only sport I like is ice hockey. I played in high school (only girl on the team, which I'm kind of proud of) and still enjoy watching professional games, but I don't go out of my way to.
I'm just not a sports fan otherwise. I particularly hate the football obsession that surrounds me and trying to get anywhere "downtown" when there's a game.
No one close to me is a big sports fan, but we live outside a major city with two baseball teams, a football team, basketball team, soccer team and two hockey teams (one NHL and the other not, but still very popular with the locals), almost all of which are well-known and have big fan bases, so there's a lot of sports hype around here.
@camichael84 I delivered my son at Riverview health and will be delivering there this time as well. I met my dr when a friend was delivering her son and instantly new I wanted her to deliver my babies. She is the nicest person and so down to earth!
Regarding med free birth, I totally get the argument for going med free and give mad props to women that give birth med free, but at the same time, my epi was an amazing experience. Granted, I've just had the one birth, so I have no comparison. But for me, as soon as it was placed I couldn't feel a single contraction, yet I could move my legs freely. I couldn't get out of the bed, but I'd had little desire to do so before the epi. I labored without the epidural for 4.5 hours and only progressed 1.5 cm in that time. Went from a 3.5 to 10 in less than 3 hours after it was placed, and I could feel everything during the birth, so I know when to push and did so productively. I didn't really want an epi going into it, but had zero regrets after.
@camichael84- I will be going to IU North. It is the only place my OB/GYN delivers at. It is the same place I had DS and is a really nice hospital. It's also easy to get to from my house (even with all the construction!)
@reesaXden My brother was born at Riverview. I delivered DD at IU North. My OB also delivers at St. Vincent's in Carmel, but I think we're going with IU again because we had a really good experience there with DD.
I'm not saying I don't miss going out and having some drinks, but I def don't miss crowded bars on St. Pattys Day where I have to wait hours for a drink and I'm surrounded by underage, underdressed whores (I live near a college). Even though I used to be one of those stupid freshmen girls...
@marajay6 That's where I had my daughter. My OB is based out of St. Vincent's so I can deliver there as well, but we loved IU. I'm hoping this time I'll be able to utilize the labor tub. It's a pretty easy drive for us, too. They started the 116th/Meridian construction when I was pregnant with DD. It didn't end up effecting us when I went into labor, but I had worries that it would.
Mine is that I love the bare belly shots. I know so many people who think it's tacky or gross. Bring on those bare, beautiful, sometimes shiny from the cocoa butter bellies!

I'm not understanding your comparison between medications during pregnancy and safe anesthesia during labor. Certain medications can pose a much higher risk to baby depending on the trimester. I was in painful labor for 12 hours with very slow progression before I agreed to get the epi. I wasn't just "OK with it" like it was some casual decision. I wanted to go med free so badly because my mom had done it 5 times.
@mhilpisch10 & @PoodleDoodleOoo - You're making me sad over here! I'm wishing I could be deliver @ North Memorial again with the same OB that delivered DS & DD.

You used to be in MN and now are in TX right? MN does have some perks. Winter sucks but I've got a lot of pride for my state!

Nobody gets any special props from me for going med free. I mean, you do you. I don't personally understand choosing more pain over less pain, but whatever.
Pick a toddler and tell me accurately whether his mother had an epidural. Hell, do the same with a newborn. In the end I'm quite certain it makes no difference for the child.

I had almost the same exact experience. My contractions were the worst pain I had ever felt, even worse than the appendicitis attack that caused me to vomit and ultimately have an emergency appendectomy. For me, contractions were like the worst Charlie horse/ leg cramp you've even felt, but in your uterus. With my epi, I could feel contractions without the blinding pain. Instead of fearing each coming contraction, I could rest and be ready and focused for push time.
What do you think about starting a popular pet peeves thread too? I really just want to complain about stuff we all hate. Currently how fb is full of politics and most the posts are inaccurate but no one seems to notice or care they still hit share! Also a grrrrrr to bicycles on roads that do not obey traffic laws. This morning I had a green light and was almost a car length into the intersection when this bike blows his red light, I slam on the breaks (was only going like 10), and the bike looks over and doesn't even slow down.
I hate how bicyclists switch between being a pedestrian and being a vehicle. I watched one bike approach a stop light, he was in the road, clearly identifying himself as a vehicle. Instead of stopping at the red light, he just swerved over so he was on the crosswalk, like a pedestrian. It's so dangerous when you have no idea what they are going to do.
@mhilpisch10I'll be at Mercy in Coon Rapids (which, fun fact, is also where I was born!)
I'm also delivering at the hospital where I was born. When I told my mom about the retired nurse who did our birth class, she said that the same nurse had been her nurse for a few of her deliveries.
I'm stupidly irritated at my MIL. She can't but mention that this baby is their 14th grandchild when we announced to family. It wouldn't be as bothersome if she hadn't already done it multiple times this pregnancy. And everyone's previous pregnancy was assigned numbers. I know it's her way of bragging to everyone that she has so many grandkids. I remember her mentioning that a neighbor had 40+ grandkids and I could sense the jealously. I'm sorry I'm not a baby making machine MIL for your Utah bragging rights.
^ I'm jealous of all you team greeners this time around. I would love to be right there with you, but I have to keep my promise to DH. He was very patient the first time around and I promised him we'd find out with this one... He remembered that promise
Also I know it's an option for me not to know, but that would drive me crazy that he knew something I didn't lol.
@PSUBecky23 I'm with you!! Huge sports fan over here.. basketball and baseball especially. March Madness is one of my favorite times of year! It doesn't hurt that I'm a Boston girl and sports around here are basically a religion
