What will you both be called?

So any other time I wouldn't create a discussion for this question, but I've been searching all day through the forums. It came up today while at lunch with my mom and partner.

How will you both separate being called "mom", "mommy" without confusing yourselves... or whatever your preference may be?

Neither of us wish to go by our first names and nicknames are hard to just come up with. Its our first IUI and fx it sticks.. yes we may have plenty of time but I'm still stuck on this and couldn't get anywhere when thinking about it.. Any Suggestions??

Re: What will you both be called?

  • We're going to be mama and mom. My sense is that kids will adapt to anything :) Good luck with the IUI!
  • We just had this conversation yesterday and we're both at a loss here.  Eventually we just decided to let it evolve into whatever it was going to be!  Good luck with your first IUI
  • Loading the player...
  • My wife and I already refer to each other as "Mom/Mum," "Mommy/Mummy" and "Mama" interchangeably for our dog, so I imagine we will do the same once we have a baby.  I think kids also make up their own versions of names, too - especially in the case of grandparents.  V and I will probably let our kids come up with whatever diminutive of "Mother" that feels best for them.
  • Thanks @retropetro and @vl2016 although this is still topic of discussion for us we somewhat have fell into the let it evolve stage. IUI was yesterday so fx for that...the tww anxiety hasn't yet kicked in and hoping it doesn't until I'm a few days away from beta testing.
