I'm 4 days overdue. Just called my doctors to see if it was safe to try castor oil. They gave me the go ahead but warned me of severe diarrhea. Which if I went into labor could get messy. Any advice with this??? Did it work for anyone, make you sick, and how much do you take?
my advice is that you DO NOT drink castor oil, & start seeing a more competent doctor who would not give you the "go ahead" to do something so dangerous to your child & stupid to try.. jesus christ.
And for the love of all that's holy, please think of the poor nurses who'd have to clean up that mess if you did happen to go into labor after drinking it.

Mmmm I'm sorry but I'm not buying that your doctor "gave you the go ahead" to try castor oil. It's extremely dangerous... if your doctor was truly concerned that you are overdue then he would be discussing induction with you, not "giving the go ahead" to experiment with a dangerous home remedy. However, if you are in fact telling the truth then you should immediately get a new doctor.
Why would I make up that my doctor gave me the go ahead? I obviously have no reason to lie on an online blog. Thanks for all the judgement i was simply asking for advice and opinions.
Hells bells, search castor (or castrol) and see what comes up. There are so many nopes. Dangerous for baby, and im sure i can speak for all the ladies here when i say that labour is enough drama already without dealing with explosive diarrhea as well. We are judging your doc. One of my friends recently did the castor oil, her baby aspirated the meconium that she pooped due to the stress and nearly died of the resulting infection.
Please don't ! I was overdue and had two tablespoons with my first to try and avoid induction. It was worst experience of my life could have harmed the baby and I had to be induced two days later anyways. It will just make you sick if your body isn't ready to go on its own. I'm 39 weeks as of tomorrow and starting to feel the anxiousness thinking I'll go over due again, but know I wouldn't put that on any list even if I do go over again. Truly it was aweful save yourself the energy for when your body goes into labour.
