We are all having our little ones right in the middle of summer. I was wondering if anyone plans on taking them to the beach or pool. I have a 2 year old and I plan on taking him until birth. If i stop taking him after the baby is here I'm scared he'll blame it on the baby and be upset, but then I'm worried about baby going.
Re: Summer Babies
Eta* If you're going to go shade and keeping your nb cool is a big thing, also something about not being able to put sunscreen on a baby before their 6m(but that's dr.Google so who knows how much that holds up), if you have really any concerns I would talk to your dr. they would give you better information on this topic then us.

And not to mention the sun and heat. Not even worth it.
I'm curious how long we have to wait after birth to be able to get into a pool/lake/ocean? Between the postpartum bleeding and chance of infection, I imagine there has to be a wait period right? I live in Ohio, so by Sept 1, summer is done for us for the most part.

Here is the shade shack that I have and that I love! https://www.amazon.com/Shade-Shack-Instant-Family-Shelter/dp/B002KRZQMS
ETA: I know nothing about taking babies to pools (and don't really plan on it since I have the ocean/sound), but I think if you use common sense and follow your pediatrician's recommendations for regulating your baby's sun exposure and temperature, you'll be fine.
I've traveled in central America in the middle of summer where most home don't have windows or AC and babies do go to the beach, spend the day on the back of their mom strapped and survive just fine.
We are also going to go to the beach on a family trip in August. Again, we'll use an umbrella, shade and caution. It's a resort type of place where we stay, so there's a clubhouse we can duck into from the beach/pool area, and it's a short walk back to the air conditioned condo.
Again, it's just about common sense. No, you can't be out there all day long in the sun, but you can do it for short periods of time.
I had a winter baby last time, it was freezing out and going outside was not something we could do a lot, so ain't nobody gonna tell me to be a hermit this time around.
I am hoping I am able to make the most of my maternity leave and not sit at home the entire time!
We always had boats growing up and I remember my youngest brother (born in early August) on the boat under the center bench in his car seat. He's a redhead with fair skin and he was perfectly fine in the Florida late summer heat. Frankly my biggest concern is how I'm going to feel PP, but I won't need to wear a bikini and lay in the sand all day. I can wear lightweight running shorts and a tank top and sit in the shade with my baby. And enjoy that fresh ocean air.
Also, this is the outfit I got the baby.

I can't handle the cuteness of all the baby pool/beach gear. Aahhh
Also, though I've never actually seen it IRL, I still don't think I'll ever be fully convinced that the water-color-changing-if-you-pee-in-the-pool chemical doesn't exist...
