November 2016 Moms

2 Under 2 in November

Just found out I'm pregnant and I currently have a 9.5 month old son, and I'm breastfeeding. Therefore I am hungry ALL THE TIME right now. Plus, my milk supply has tanked a bit, I'm nervous about the prospect of having 2 under 2 years old come November, and I work full time and don't know how to break the 'I'm pregnant...again!' news to my boss. Yikes. All that said, I am super excited now after letting this set in a couple of days.  Anyone else in this or a similar boat?

Re: 2 Under 2 in November

  • Congrats! I have an almost 7 month old son. I haven't told my boss either, not sure how he will take it. I'm a teacher and soooo not happy about doing 2 months of sub plans again. Otherwise, pretty dang excited :)

  • I'll be joining the two under two with you as long as everything goes smooth (been having bleeding).
  • I'll be doing 2 under 2 just barely. My daughter is 14 months old so she'll turn two only about 6 weeks after this LO is due.

@ewiltz1921 I hope everything's ok! Sticky vibes headed your way!

  • I'm going to join in, if it's okay with everyone else. I've got a 1.5 year old now (who was a premie, so basically 1.3). He still gets rocked to sleep a lot of nights and just started sleeping through the night, most nights. I'm just worried that the baby is going to be waking him up and I'll have two crying little ones who can't sleep. And the diapers, so so many diapers. LO is no where near potty training so my hopes of it happening before November are pretty slim.

I can't believe teachers in other places have to leave sub plans, that's insanity to me. I just left my keys and passwords. They're paying someone else to do my job when I'm gone, not me! (even the part when I used sick days I didn't have to leave plans)

  • @SamanthaSue222 are you M15 by any chance???
  • I'm joining the 2 under 2 club in November! My son is 13 months. I was a little nervous (and probably still am) to think of two under two but I'm also pretty excited that they will be best of friends! Glad you started this thread so we can discuss our fears and excitements together!

I'm nervous about having 2 under 2 also but excited at the same time. My daughter is 9 months old. I'm glad that they'll be close together but 2 in diapers is going to be a challenge!

  • I also will be having 2 under 2
  • My little boy will be 17mo in Nov. I'm excited that they'll be fairly close in age. It'll probably be chaos, but also lots of fun!
I work full time, but I'll be moving and staying a new job in July. Not sure how I'm going to tell them - but that's something to figure out later. :-)

My girl will be 2 in December. not potty trained and cant put herself to sleep yet.

    long nights, here we come.

  • I have a 7 month old and I am due November 14!  Broke the news to my boss already because I didn't want to throw her any curve balls and wanted to give her time to plan.  She was amazing about it.  I hope it goes well for you too!  I'm sure our patience will be tested and there will be lots of tears (both kids and moms) but it will be worth it!  We got this!
  • I was may 2015! I didn't post a whole lot as we were in the middle of a move and other things! Are you a May 2015?
  • DD will be 2 in November. My 3 year old is barely potty trained now, so I won't even attempt potty training with my 2nd til long after baby comes. I hear she would regress anyways. Don't worry, ladies! I haven't slept well for the past 3 years it seems, but I somehow survive. It'll all work out! I think a 2 year gap is great! My girls adore a
    eachother.

  • I will almost have 2 under 2. My son will be two in October. I'm scared yo. I just don't really understand how it works. How do you get two around the city? Double strollers are too wide for city doors and the double options for a regular width are kinda crappy. How do you grocery shop? Where does the food go if the cart is holding children? Then how do you bring it in the building? How do I go to the playground? My son will be running around like a maniac with me following to make sure he doesn't kill himself and the other will be....sitting by the bench in the stroller alone? Even if I have one in the carrier and one in the stroller you have to bend and move gently with a baby on you and my son is just so active that seems impossible!
  • Yep! Assuming that means May 2015?
  • I'm so happy to see that there are so many of us here together. I second the questions about taking 2 under 2 out in public. Seems like it would be a nightmare! Lets keep up the posts here if anyone has questions or more concerns or anything regarding being pregnant with an infant around! Anyone else still breastfeeding? That has already proven interesting with my 9 month old.
  • DS will be 23 months in November so I'll be 2u2 for a month lol. I'm so scared and a bit excited at the same time.

  • Glad there is a thread for this.  I am a May 2015 mom also and just found out we are preggo again as long as it sticks.  Scarred to death to have 2 under 2 .
  • Are any of you part of the Facebook group for May 2015?
  • So glad I found this thread! DS will be almost 17 months when this one is born. SO and I are terrified. How are we going to pay up? Sleep? Schedule? Work? Gah, I don't know!
  • I'll be in the club for a month til DS1 turns 2 in Dec. I'm mostly worried about sleeping arrangements. We bed share and think DS will need to be in his own room by then. I don't want a 2 year old a new born both up if I can avoid it. I told DH that he better be ready for single dad mode when DS2 comes because I will need his help with a lot!

I plan to still send DS1 to daycare while on maternity leave to keep my sanity and nap during the day with baby.

    DS1: 12/17/2014
DS2: born sleeping at 26 weeks on 8/8/2016 due to chromosomal deletion

  • My son will turn 2 in Nov and my due date is Nov 9th with twins....I keep telling myself the craziness will be fun...I am not going back to work this time.
  • I have a daughter who is 8 months and I'm due November 17th!! Exactly 14 months from the day my daughter was born! It's going to be a wile ride but I can't wait!

@Thewizardofrhythm, one of my NYC friends was a woven wrap master, one swore by a ring sling, and the other a mei tai carrier. They mostly all used single strollers so they could still bring home groceries/shopping bags (or used delivery).

After DS, I had to give DD more playground freedom. I would stand by the high up openings but let her try more things herself. Though I tended to stick to smaller and less busy playgrounds when possible.
  • I won't be part of the club but I was with my first two and it really wasn't that bad. They are 17 months apart and my oldest showed little interest for the first couple weeks. We worked on getting him to go to sleep on his own and sleep through the night while I was pregnant. I breastfeed and that seemed to be the hardest part. I tried to get my oldest into reading books or bringing toys over while I fed but he soon learned that he could be mischievous while I fed since getting up and down was slower work with a baby attached to you.

Unsolicited advice, try and get your toddler on a good sleep schedule, it'll help if one child is STTN. Try new things with your oldest while baby is sleeping. We introduced play doh and coloring in the first few months after baby. I think it helped him cope since he was still getting one on one time and special treats. I also tried to spend one on one play time with him when my husband got home. It was uninterrupted and he was always excited.

Overall, it was a good transition with some rocky parts. They are now 3 and 1.5 and are great friends. They play constantly and my oldest is always calling for his brother to join him. Good luck ladies!

  • I'm about to have 2u2 for the second time. My first two are just a week shy of 2 yes apart so I barely did last time but I'll tell yay that a newly and mostly non-verbal 2 y/o and a newborn was no joke. Luckily, he loved his sissy so much from the get go that we turned out ok. It was challenging at times but I wouldn't have done it any other way. They are so close and such good playmates now at 3 and 16 months that it made the hard days worth it. The biggest negative was that we had to delay potty training since he regressed when she was born. These next two will be about 21 mo apart and I'm hoping it goes as smoothly. My son nursed the whole time I was pregnant with my daughter and I ended up tandem feeding them for aboit 6 months. My daughter weaned herself right when I got pregnant... She knew before I did... So it will be a bit of a different transition for us this time. I love having my littles so close in age!

  • My first 2 are just under 15 months apart. It was surprisingly a smooth transition. I spent the summer before the baby came getting my 1 year old on a solid nap and night time schedule which I think helped tremendously, so we really only had to focus on taking care of the baby during the night. The most important thing was making sure my 15 month old still got one on one time and attention whenever possible. It did take him a while to warm up and show affection towards the baby, I think because for a while she was too little to interact with him so
he didn't really have an interest in her. Now they make each other laugh and sit together and play (sometimes) which is so sweet. Our 3rd baby is also going to be 15 months apart from our 2nd, so I'm not too nervous about the age difference this time. What I am nervous about is having 3 kids under 2.5...that scares me!
  • Mine will be 20 months apart. Since I work full time and am already overwhelmed I'm freaking out. So nervous about childcAre expenses and telling work. Anyone else nervous about the judgments when telling people this time around about being pregnant again. People are like, didn't you just have a baby?

Yes! I'm actually telling my school that I won't be returning because the cost of 3 kids in daycare would be more than what I would make. I'm not looking forward to telling them that I got pregnant while on maternity leave..
I also haven't told family yet because I'm nervous about judgements because this is our 3rd baby in a little over 2 years. I shouldn't care what people think but I know there will be some eye rolls
  • @erniebernie1 yes, on nervous about telling people! My babies will be 14 months apart! When I first found out I was Prego again I was so excited I was telling everyone and got some off the wall comments...I've stopped announcing our exciting news, I'm waiting until I'm a little further along
  • leighryleighry member
I feel you guys on the kids being close. Everyone was pretty excited about our first two even though they were 20 months apart. We told people just after our first kid turned 1. With our third though, we announced when our 2nd was almost 1 (they're 18 months apart). A lot of people were just like "you know how to prevent this, right?" And "... so soon? Aren't you busy enough?" So I feel like people can have the same reaction as kids that are close together as well as how many you have. I haven't told many people because this is #4 and I don't feel like hearing all the "was this on purpose?" Kind of comments.
  • I feel so much better after seeing these responses! DS is on a schedule and sleeping through the night so I feel like I'm already ahead of the game! He will also be attending daycare while I'm on maternity leave since I'm going to try really hard to breast feed for as long as possible this time around. This being my second I actually feel so much more prepared.
  • Not me, but DD's 3rd birthday is the day before my due date... Giving me a little anxiety.

  • thanks @shevaCC! Carry and stroller is what I see most people doing. I'm just a big outdoor winter person and the carrier can get cold for the baby when they are on the outside of the jacket. I think I'll get one of these carrier covers to go on top and that should help.
  • shevaCCshevaCC member
@Thewizardofrhythm, I live in Seattle so it's not super cold here, but I have a ski parka that's slightly too big for me that I used with me plus DS in the carrier when he was small. I could zip it up around both of us until he got too big. I never ended up liking any of the carrier covers enough to spend the money.
  • @Thewizardofrhythm I bought a jacket one size too big and it zipped up over baby when wore him. Sharing body heat helped both of us.

I'll have 3 under 4! My middle child will be 20 months when this one comes. Im kinda sorta really terribly terrified of the first few months adjusting!
