so far all I know is I want a jogger. I don't need the 'best' and I don't think I will be actually jogging a lot but I do enjoy walking and really want something I can use a lot outdoors.
Don't get a graco fast action jogger. Mine sucks and I hate it.

Get one with tires that don't need air!
Thanks! It was in my list but I have heard bad things. I am thinking about the city mini about the same price as the graco on amazon but its supposed to be much much better. I guess the big difference is the graco comes with a lot of things that the city mini does not like a car seat adapter, a child tray and a parent tray.
I love my regular City Mini, but it's not a great outdoorsy stroller. You'd probably be able to make due with the GT as long as you're not actually planning on jogging. I'd say that one would do OK walking in mowed grass, on gravel, etc.

  • I want one that has the sit and stand option. I'm trying to talk my husband into actually.
  • @LeahKnits - I looked at that stroller you linked and that looks like it would be great for us.  I sent the link on to my husband for his opinion.  He probably won't be too thrilled at the idea of buying another stroller, but he will also understand the convenience of having a stroller that will fit both kids. DS will be 22 months when this LO is born.

  • Does anyone have any experience with the Britax B Agile travel system? I'm debating between that at the City Mini GT with Graco Snugride infant seat....
  • @mom2adoodle - We have the Britax B Agile Travel system. The stroller handles well and folds up easily. The basket underneath is too small - my diaper bag (the Fisher Price backpack style) does not fit in it.  I also don't really care for the way that you move the seat from recline to upright.  And like many travel system strollers, it is rather bulky.

If I were to do it again, I would skip the travel system. I find that most strollers that a car seat snaps into are very bulky.  I would buy one of those stroller frames for the car seat and then a separate stroller for when the child is ready.

  • @SLou24 this all the way. Getting dressed for work each day is enough of an adventure right now (as I sit here at my desk with my pants unbuttoned...), definitely not ready for stroller or carseat for that matter.
  • Lucie's List is amazing!!! PSUBecky23 thank you for the recommendation - so much information to take in.
  • This is my recommendation which may not agree with what others are saying. With my first we got a travel system (the Britax stroller and infant seat) and a BOB jogger. Over the past 15 months of use I have probably used my jogger 98% of the time. I really only ever used the travel system out of guilt that we bought it, not that I preferred to use it. The car seat snaps into the BOB no problem when she was little and I just felt the ride was SO MUCH SMOOTHER. Even if I wasn't running with it, it's lighter and easier to push and steer when walking... Ever have to get up on a curb or sidewalk with the stroller or go down a step or two? Ever wanna walk through grass or gravel? Good luck with those little plastic wheels on regular strollers. It's so much easier to do everything with the jogger and the tire tube tires. It is a little bigger, but I can steer it much easier than the other so I feel less awkward. It is also probably 5 pounds heavier and bigger in the trunk... But if you have the space it is so worth it to me!! With number 2 im getting and double jogger and calling it a day!
  • I love all the stroller enthusiasm!  I LOVE stroller talk...and you girls are def giving some great advice!

  • I always thought that I wanted a Vista, but when I pushed it in buy buy baby, it was so difficult to get through aisles without hitting things.  We ended up getting the Baby Jogger City Versa, which is discontinued.  It was on Amazon for $200, but I'm not sure if it's sold out now.  Since it was a great price, I was able to get the GT wheels for it through Baby Jogger's website.  We are also going to register for the Uppa Baby G Luxe.

  • @Prncesta for newborns, I recommend a stretchy wrap (like a k'tan) or a ring sling. The structured carriers are great but tend to be too big for little babies. I only have experience with the toddler Tula and wasn't that impressed. I much preferred my Ergo (which we started using around 5-6 months), even with a bigger toddler. But many people rave about Tulas. It's all personal preference. Highly recommend trying them out before buying. Babywearing International has many chapters and they have a lending library so you can take one home and try it out for a month.

  • @SarahMConnors I had to google a hiking stroller. I didn't realize that was a thing. We got a hiking backpack for DS. You can't use it until baby has good head control, but it worked very well for our vacation last summer that had a lot of day hiking.

  • Here's a question for moms.  The Chicco adapter for our city versa is expensive.  It's $50, which is crazy.  Do we get the Chicco caddy which is a whole other stroller or is it overkill to have the Chicco Caddy, the City Versa, and an UppaBaby G Luxe?

  • Anyone else pretty tall? I'm 5'9" and DH is 6'3". What stroller worked for you?
  • @chickendancefever I don't think it's overkill to have those strollers.  The caddy is $100, right?  If you're already paying $50 why not pay a little more and have the convenience of the extra-lightweight stroller?  Plus the G Luxe looks like you can't use it until baby is a little older (weighs more).  They're all very different types and would be good for different situations.  Options are good :)

I'm 5'11" and don't notice a problem pushing either of the strollers we have (Britax b-ready or BOB revolution) however I have friends where both parents are over 6' and they got a BOB flex which has an adjustable handle they are very happy with.
  • Where and when can you find the best sales? I've been stalking sites anytime I go online and followed every brand on FB, but maybe there's a more efficient way? (We're aiming to get an Uppababy Cruz).

I'm going to chime in on this too!  We had a k'tan when my son was tiny and it worked well.  It's easier to use than a wrap but works well for newborns.  I think I'm going to be tandem wearing our twins in ring slings this time.  For when babe is older, I initially had an ergo and wasn't really a fan.  I have a short torso and large chest and it just didn't fit well.  Then I bought a Tula, and then another Tula.  I LOVE THEM! We are both still super comfy and my back doesn't hurt the way it did with the ergo.

I do second the recommendation to link up with a baby wearing group in your area to try some stuff out and see them in person before you buy.

  • Amazon is having a sale on Baby Jogger products. Do you ladies think $280 for the city mini gt is a good deal?? Retails $350, debating if I should just buy it now if I plan to get it. We testing a bunch out today and this is by far our favorite

  • @kosmo86 I recently got a city mini GT at target for $119...it was an amazing find...I do think if you can wait, you may find a better price.  Especially if you're willing to buy second hand in pristine condition.

  • @mom2adoodle we are also giants lol. I am almost 6' and DH is a bit taller than me. We have really enjoyed the Graco click connect jogger. It is so much more rugged than the BabyTrend models. Seriously, go to a BRU and test-drive some :)
  • @SaraJuul did you ever come across the double stroller "grow with me" from Graco? We are looking into that one right now since we have the click connect system already.
  • Sorry to bring this thread back from the dead....

Wondering if anyone has any scoop on the Joovy VARYLIGHT stroller. I was pretty set on the Ultralight Graphite model, which was just updated. But when I looked at the Varylight I actually liked a lot of the specs better (except the weight.) When I poke around it looks discontinued. I couldn't dig anything up about it. Wonder if anyone knew anything (or maybe has better google skills than I?)

  • Has anyone had experience using a sit and stand stroller? I've been looking at the Baby Trend Sit and Stand double. It can be converted from a tandem to a sit and stand and it is cheaper than the Joovy sit and stand.  DD1 will be 3 when  DD2 is born, but she still asks to be carried sometimes and likes to ride along. I feel like a sit and stand would be perfect for us.

  • @thetamedshrew I think we're just going to get a glider board for our current stroller (City Mini). My daughter will be 3.5 when this baby is born and rarely goes in the stroller anymore (because she'd rather RUN EVERYWHERE). So in the off chance that we're out and she gets tired of walking, hoping that will be enough.

  • In my experience, a Car Seat / Snap-n-Go combo is all you really need in the beginning. With the exception of people who regularly exercise/run in which case a jogging stroller would be better.

After baby is out of a car seat, we transitioned to an umbrella stroller (Jeep or Chicco have good affordable ones, you can even buy used ones safely at consignment stores).

I spent a good bit of money on an expensive travel system the first time around and I always kind of regretted it. It was just overkill for us.

  • Love our Graco click connect jogger system. If they made a double jogger I'd be in heaven. Picked up the sit to stand double in preparation for this LO and I hate how it maneuvers. I picked up a used bob double jogger that's awesome. We'll use the sit to stand until this LO is able to sit up because the bob we got isn't compatible with the infant seat we have.

  • Hey Ladies...i'm looking into double strollers...tandem or side by side?  These are the 3 i'm looking into at the moment, but open to suggestions.  My LO will be about 20 months when this baby is born.  I'm not looking for a stroller that will work as a travel system, but something with a decent recline so the new LO can use it sooner than later...but i'm not opposed to wearing baby #2 while baby #1 uses a single stroller...Currently we only really use the stroller when we go to Disneyland and I need something small enough to fold up into the trunk of our Elantra or fit in the back of our Jeep patriot

ZOE XL2 BEST Xtra Lightweight Double Stroller
I heard that this side by side is very light weight, and narrow so it's great for getting around.

    Contours Options Elite Tandem Stroller
I check out strollers when at disney, and this seems to be a pretty popular one.  It has great storage and looks like it has options for changing the seats around.  Also, it appears that it can fold up with both seats still attached??

Baby Trend Sit N' Stand Snap Fit Double Stroller

I like this one because it seems to be very similar to the Contours, except it also gives me the Sit N'Stand option for my older son, so i'm thinking this may work out better in the long run.  However, it seems that it may not be able to fold up with ANY seats attached (which would be a huge pain...again we use it at disney and would require to be folded on the tram/bus from the parking lot to the gate...so having 2 kids, 2 seats, and a stroller base, plus any bags sounds very unmanageable, even for a short period of time)

Does any one have any feedback on these strollers? Or suggestions of better ones?  I'm trying to find something for $300 or less...i'd be willing to go a little up on price if it was absolutely perfect (i.e. sit n stand option, or something similar, easy to maneuver around, easy to fold up [seats stay attached], and good storage)

We have a patriot and my husband complains about fitting our single jogger, good luck on fitting a double well.

I suggest you test drive these strollers. My friend with twins insists on side by side. I have no personal experience except for the ones I have. See my post above.

  • Great advice ladies!! Has anyone had any experience with the Recaro car seats / strollers? Apparently Recaro makes the seats in every NASCAR car, and my husband saw a flyer for it and was like, "we HAVE to get this, if it's safe enough for Ernhart its safe enough for baby".....Reviews say infant seats are heavy but safe. Not so good reviews for the stroller which you have to use with the infant seat.
    https://www.amazon.com/RECARO-Performance-Coupe-Infant-Scarlet/dp/B00V7DMFNE/ref=pd_bxgy_75_img_2?ie=UTF8&refRID=0H6DMPMJB4EH150EA95X

P.s. correct me if I'm wrong and Ernhart isn't actually a driver any more?? NO IDEA!!!

  • @jbscmama - Dale Earnhardt actually died in a NASCAR accident.

  • @marajay6  Oh jeez....that's awful! Ughhhh and ironic in the context I mentioned it....think I'll go with the Chicco Keyfit.
  • @jbscmama and @marajay6 Dale Earnhart, Jr is still racing though - maybe they meant him ;)
