Infertility

Hi, I'm Erica

Hey ladies. New girl here. I think I posted a few times before a few years back, but DH and I took about a year and a half off from actively TTC. But now I'm back. No one in my circle can really identify with what I'm going through, so I'm looking for a place to hang and chat with other women/couples TTC. I've been lurking and this looks like an awesome group. Can't wait to get to know you all better. My siggy says a lot, but to add on, I live in Atlanta and work full time at a law firm. My husband Scott and I have two dogs, Simba and Nala. I suppose you can guess my favorite Disney movie. :)

  • Hi @em01092, welcome and good luck to you!

    Quick question, so your doctor thought 18mm was too small to trigger? My nurse was upset when I had an 18mm follicle at a CD11 u/s and was going to get the trigger shot in the mail the next day. In turn that made ME upset b/c I thought I'd be fine with that schedule. It's interesting/comforting to hear different opinions.

    Me: 33, PCOS with anovulation
    DH: 36, No known issues
    TTC since 11/2014
    1000mg Metformin daily

    Oct-Dec 2015: Letrozole 5mg, Ovidrel, TI = BFN x 2
    Feb-May 2016: Letrozole 5mg, Ovidrel, TI, Prometrium = BFN x 3
    August 2016: Clomid 100mg no response, Letrozole 5mg, Ovidrel, TI, Prometrium = BFN

  • Welcome @em01092 ! I'm relatively new as well. I think you'll find this to be a great community.
  • @LizzieJ13 yes, my doc said she wanted the follicle at least 20mm before triggering. I go back tomorrow so I'll be sure to report back on what happens! If they say I am good to go, I can go downstairs to the pharmacy in the same building and do the shot right away.

    @omarismyhomeboy

     thank you! Good news: dominant follicle was 21 mm today! Got the trigger shot, so lots of TI here we come! ;) I don't know if it was nerves or what but I was really nauseous all day today. And the insertion/maneuvering of the u/s wand definitely felt more uncomfortable this time than on Monday. Weird. It was a different tech so maybe this one wasn't as gentle? idk.

    On a less ideal note, I did get my PCOS diagnosis confirmed due to these two ultrasounds this week. Tech saw lots of smaller follicles in right ovary both times. Also My right ovary was 10cm and left was 17cm today! Apparently those are pretty enlarged? I haven't done a lot of research on that yet, any ideas?

    Another good thing was all my CD3 labs came back great. But I also forgot to ask about the thickness of my lining. When I went on Monday they said it wasn't quite where they wanted it and today it completely slipped my mind. I need to start making a list and taking it with me.

  • @em01092 - I'm glad you responded well! I'm guessing they would have mentioned your lining being a problem today, if it were in fact too thin. I'm not sure what normal ovary size is. The only comment I've gotten on that was from the u/s tech who, at my first u/s, said that my ovaries looked "not too big" for having PCOS -- no idea what that meant!

    One tip for you, based on my experience: On my third cycle, the nurse told me that there is evidence that Prometrium is helpful to women with PCOS who are taking Letrozole, so I supplemented with that during my last TWW. I don't want to add to any confusion, but maybe it is worth putting that on your list of questions? I feel like if something fairly simple can be done that might help, why not? (Which is why I was a little annoyed that it didn't come up till cycle #3. Not that I am a fan of the suppositories!)
