May 2016 Moms

Might be about that time!

I was lurking on other BMB and saw that they posted/pinned the Birth Announcement thread for all to share their arrivals earlier than the actual expected birth month for those born a little early. (Not that I want any of these LO's to come too early but some of us are well into the 3rd trimester) so I thought maybe it would be a good idea for ours to be posted and pinned by admin just in case! They seem to have all copy and pasted a set of rules to attach with the thread like only posting your birth announcement and "loving" others just to refrain from all the "Congrats!" comments that would clog up the thread. I know we also talked about doing our own announcement threads when our time comes that welcomes any and all comments. So just a thought if any of you ladies agree and want to volunteer to post this exciting thread!

Re: Might be about that time!

  • I think this sounds like a great idea to have a May baby announcements thread. I don't know if we can refrain from sending congrats! The April board also has a labor watch thread which I think would be helpful to have one place for all the early labor questions & happenings.

Good idea. And the only reason the other boards made the rule no commenting on the Birth Announcement board is so there's not like 80 "congrats" comments in between each announcement. If that makes sense. Earlier we had a thread and seemed like most agreed to wanting one large announcement thread for everyone and then each of us doing our own individual post when we have our LO that anyone is welcome to comment on. But I get its public and people do what they want, especially when it comes to excitement about babies! But just an idea and wanted to get others thoughts before anyone posts the thread. @lusitano8

  • I think @yogahh just recently made a thread about this asking if people preferred a chatter free thread like the other boards or individual birth announcements. It seems like the consensus (by way of the poll anyway) was to have it chatter free which I totally agree with. Like you said, @kp90 having a ton of congrats after each post would just be too much. The actual announcements would get lost.
  • Yup I did. The poll leaned chatter free, but the comments were that most people wanted both...

  • That's how it was for the December 2014 board. Brief intro to your baby weight, height, name etc and "love it" only, no comments. I think we should do that. I really enjoyed seeing all the birth announcements, especially since I was due the end of the month so I had to wait longer than most in our group. This time around I'm due May 2nd, only 7 weeks to go!!!
  • I think with my last board we did the birth announcement thread and people would post basics like name, weight... And then link their birth story in case people wanted to read them (raises hand) and comment on that thread. And instead of posting a ton of congrats on the birth announcement thread you would just "love it".
I think this is the best bet

So who's going to do it?

Since @seasalt123 is the second May momma to have her baby, I went ahead and made the post and asked @BumpAdmin to pin it.
  • @sarawifenowThe poll didn't have a "Both" option, which most of the commenters seemed to want.

Maybe, though, instead of a "Both," we could have a separate, no-chatter Birth Announcement Board and another, chatter-appropriate "Birth Stories" Board?

Sorry if anyone's suggested that already!

    And thanks, @mslan!

@msian who else had their baby?! I saw @seasalt123 thread this morning but who else did I miss?

@kp90 I was trolling the March board and earlier this month someone from May had their baby. Not sure her username though. I remember people on here kinda discussing it.
