I had my take home outfit all planned out, then changed it to something else. At my shower this weekend my grandma gave me an outfit that her mom (my great grandma) had made 47 yrs ago. She made it for my grandma who had given birth to a still born so she never had the chance to use it. My grandma had given it to her sister in law who was expecting and the outfit has only been worn once. When my grandma and great aunt gave me the outfit with a card saying " A Gift From Heaven" I started balling my eyes out.
The outfit is crocheted and is old wool so is a bit stiff and itchy but when my grandma and aunt asked if this was the outfit DD would come home in, I couldn't say no. So depending on the weather, as long as it's not too warm I'll most likely be dressing the baby in the outfit that my great grandma made. My mom is telling me that as long as my grandma isn't at the hospital when I leave I can dress the baby in the original outfit I'd planned and when we get home put the outfit on the baby and send her a photo.
